I'm not concerned about them I would be more concerned about Weber and Risto. As most know I'm not really a fan of Weber. Seems like he always on for more goals against than anyone else on the team. I absolutely love the Sabres and it's hard and I mean hard to go through this rebuild. Like others said the rebuild should have taken place the year McKinnon came out. Last year was a weak draft class and even though I wanted Reinhart I still believe he isn't ready. I think the additions of Gorges, Gionta and getting Moulson back, plus Stewart and Stafford in contract years puts us out of the top 2 picks which would really suck. Islanders I believe will be a playoff team or damn close to it. I still think Buffalo, Carolina, Florida, Arizona, Calgary, and Winnipeg if they move Kane or Buff will all have lottery balls. My favorites are Arizona and Carolina right now.

I can endure 1 final year of the tank but I don't think we end up with either two of the big prizes in the 2015 draft. I think they are gonna be better than people think. I'm looking forward to watching this team and what Murray has planned.

I will throw Arizona in the mix as well I don't know where they are gonna get goal scoring from. I have to give the Edge in coaching to Arizona but better goal scorers to Carolina even though they have 2 solid players out for alittle while. I would hate to see McDavid in either one of those uniforms. I don't mind Arizona but not with Darcy there. I just think their is no way we finish last unless we start Nieuvirth every game.

To me it's not about Samson's effort or dedication but all about not standing out to earn an extended stay. I like the kid and he was the player I wanted in the 2014 draft but I thought Grigs played pretty well in the preseason and stood out more than Sam did. If you want to reward hard work than I think Grigs deserved it. I like what Grigs has done and have no problem him getting sent down. Play a ton and put him in a lot of situations. I get what Nolan and the Sabres are doing with Reinhart but I could see how a player could be upset not making the team when I thought he had played himself into a spot. Problem with Grigs thinking is that he feels he can make this squad but I'm sure their thinking is yeah you can make it but we want u as a 1-2 center not a 3-4 one. That's just my guess.

The interesting this is Grigs is a RFA at the end of the season. I feel bad for the guy but it's best for the organization long term and good for him if he continues to put in the work and doesn't dwell on it. The contract between the CHL and the NHL sucks because Reinhart to me doesn't deserve to get 9 games when I thought Grigs was better than him in the games I watched. I know the reason why but if your preaching earn your spot and work hard then he shouldn't get games but I get it. Both should be in the AHL playing against better competition and developing.

That's true but I doubt it. Has anyone heard if any of the 2014 picks are going to make an nhl roster full time this season? I know Bennett sounds like he might get a few games but haven't heard much from any other picks. I know Philly just signed their 1st rounder.

Halak is inconsistent but I think they will have better than average goaltending this year. Boychuck is solid in his own end and Leddy I believe is coming into his own now. As much as I want the Islanders to fail both of these moves help their defense.

I agree from what I seen and heard from the coaching staff is that Grigs really has earned a spot. As much as I like Reinhart he didn't do anything to earn a spot and needs more time. I like where Grigs is heading I just wish he could have 1 full year in Rochester before earning a spot. I wonder with some teams with cap trouble if Murray makes a trade for another young player who already has some minor and nhl experience but just not good enough to grab a top 6 spot on another team.

We know Garth messed up last year giving us both his 1st and 2nd rounder. This is him saving his job because they were suspect on defense before both of these moves. I don't think they were as bad as they finish last year but the Tavares injury and add in $hitty goaltending and you end up at the bottom. I knew Snow was going to do whatever it takes so that Buffalo doesn't end up with a lottery ball for McDavid.

Well the Islanders I believe are a playoff team for sure now. I have to agree with Tankalicious the tank is on us now. I'm guessing we will have 1 pick from 3-10, 1 pick 15-20, and 1 pick 21-30. Islanders defense just got a whole lot better.

Very good point. I will say this much it's truly brutal going through this tank but I feel it's necessary. I was born in 73 and have been a diehard fan ever since. I breed blue and gold but I for one am sick of this team being an also ran. I want to see this team being feared by opponents. And what I mean by that is talent spread out all over the roster. I'm hoping for pick 1 or 2 but I'm thinking they might have played themselves out of the top 5 which would be a huge mistake. McDavid and or Eichel would be huge and I mean huge in this rebuild. It's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out and I hope the Islanders just get blasted by the injury bug.

Looks like Max Domi just got sent back to junior. I have no idea where the Coyotes are gonna get their offense from. The Darcy effect as I'm sure he is selling Maloney on McDavid. Just saying

I ready for the season as well I already have my tickets for Anaheim and Los Angeles in a couple of weeks. I think most will agree with you. I won't be happy either unless the Islanders totally suck or are devastated by the injury bug. I think Buffalo might be better than what the analyst's think. Not saying playoff team but somehow finishing without pick 1 or 2.

My big ? is suppose that the top 3rd and 4th pick are defenseman as ranked right now and we land in that 3-4 spot. What to do? Do you choose one of them or do you go for the next best offensive player not named McDavid or Eichel. I for one want one McDavid or Eichel as that would be huge for this rebuild. But just have this feeling we are going to be missing out on both of them. I'm thinking the Sabres might have like you said a great goaltender in Ulmark but I think Lieuwin if he keeps working could be very good as well especially because he's so big.

I will agree with this but I think the defense this season looks very good as long as they can stay healthy. I just think you might get alot of production from players this year because I believe that Nolan gets alot out of them and now with Trots and the other coaches here I think you will have alot of guys with something to prove and be highly motivated. Plus I think Enroth has been waiting for this moment for awhile now. Yeah he might be small but I still think he's a really good goalie. And if you look at the history of the Buffalo Sabres you will find that we have always had solid goaltending unlike the Flyers.

I don't know about this. I don't know how many guys Murray might move to help maximize the draft. 1. I think that Murray might move either Stewart or Stafford before the deadline or at the deadline. 2. Meszaros might just be a rental and then moved. 3. Benoit I think might surprise people but I haven't seen enough just yet. I think the defense is going to be real good moving forward without Weber of course! I don't think you guys have seen Kopitar enough. Living on the west coast and seeing alot of LA Kings games on tv. Kopitar is very underrated because alot of people back east don't see him enough. He does everything and he does it really well. And once Gaborik was paired with him those two have unbelievable chemistry.

I think Buffalo might surprise some teams this year. I think they will put themselves out of the McDavid and Eichel sweepstakes which is a huge mistake. My reason is I think the defense is alot better and I just have this strange feeling that Nolan and the coaching staff is going to play a huge effect in what the players do this year. To me it seems like some players are really motivated for playing for this staff. Which is a good thing. I look at the top 5 picks and once you get past McDavid and Eichel the next 2 highly rated players are defense. We need offense which would make this 2015 draft interesting if the Sabres finish out of the first 2 picks. It's going to be interesting to see how this season plays out. I still see Carolina and Arizona as 2 other front runners in the McDavid Sweepstakes. Carolina because of the Staal injury and Arizona because lack of offense.

I agree with this. I didn't mind Weber for some time but I just think their are better defenseman in the system that can bring a better all around game that Weber has. Sounds good to me if they move Weber just don't think you will get much back in any trade though.

Come on you can't tell me that alot of people saw Buffalo taking EJ over Geno. Not saying Geno is good but I think they reached for EJ. And then you wonder why the Bills have had QB issues for how many years. It wasn't like the guy was this super great player out of college.

That's funny! I'm not a fan of the tank either but think it's necessary to complete it. Oh and you forgot to mention that I felt EJ Manual is a bust and look now he's benched- go figure.

I agree their would be plenty of teams that would want him. I'm just not a fan of his game. If you are going to be a stay at home tough defenseman than don't be -30.
