Ordinarily I would agree with you, but Botteril has been such a disaster with his personnel moves that the team has regressed from a talent perspective.

I think the only way Botteril survives this season is if in fact he didn’t hire Housley. If Pegula insisted on Housley than Botteril is safe. Otherwise he should be gone with Housley. No quality experienced coach will want to come to this quagmire.

This is embarrassing to get blown out by Ottawa.

I think they might bring in an experienced GM and make him a hockey Czar and essentially make Botteril the Overdorf (cap and contracts) guy for the team. Then have the Czar hire a new coach.

There is no chance Housley is back next year. I think there is actually a chance Botteril is gone too.

We gave up 7 goals. One bad penalty by a fourth liner is not the reason this team blows. Girgensons is not the problem.

There is a huge learning curve for defensemen. Bobby Orr had a better supporting cast. Dahlin will be great, it’s just going to take time.

Those are the types of mistakes that Dahlin won’t be making in 2 years when he is a Norris contender.

Not hard enough. You forgot to mention the incompetence of not resigning Kane and now having the wimpiest team around.

I’m still not convinced on metrics. If Ristos metric is lousy with buffalo and is traded to Tampa and the metric remains the same than I’ll be convinced.

What does this show for us unenlightened in the metrics?

I don't claim to understand advanced stats, but I don't think they are the end all be all. Are advanced stats reliable? Do they show that Karlson was a great defensemen on a terrible Senators team? Are there Norris nominees with terrible advanced stats? Will Risto's advanced stats suddenly improve if traded to Tampa if he is paired with a solid second pair defensemen and he plays 17 minutes a game?
