We have 3 top 6 forwards (4 if you count Johanssen) You can't win like that in the NHL. We need 2 more top 6 forwards immediately. Bottom 6 players are a dime a dozen. They are readily available. Please don't ever say Mitts is a top 6 anything. At this point its not clear he's an NHL player.

Sam Bennett sucks. He is no better than Vesey.

No evidence he was never coming back other than Botteril didn’t offer him a contract. He is a very good physical player on a playoff team. A top 6 forward which is what we so desperately need.

I think Scandella could return us a 2nd round pick.

The Kane trade was terrible as well.

What is your evidence for saying that Botteril has done a good job drafting? Is it the amazing development of Mitts? The surprising pick of Dahlin?

Botteril has been here nearly 3x as long as Holland with total failure. While Holland has not been in Edmonton very long, he has made an enormous impact. Botteril might have been able to trade Okposo for Neal but he didn't. Botteril could have hired an experienced coach twice but he didn't. Edmonton's roster is certainly flawed but much better than ours.

They are light years ahead of us.

Look what a competent GM has done for Edmonton. They had there own Botteril (Peter Chiarelli) who destroyed the team with terrible trades and drafts, now with Holland they make a great trade to rid themselves of Lucic and acquire James Neal . He hires an experienced good coach and voila they are a contender. They were a shitshow just like us last year.

I think one of Risto, Montour, Miller or Joker gets moved for a quality forward.

None of this is evidence that ROR was a problem. I'm sure he wasn't happy and recognized an incompetent coach and an incompetent GM. He may have even asked for a trade. A good GM would never have traded him, he would have added around him.

You're a Botteril apologist. He has done a terrible job assembling a roster. I'm not worried about next years expansion draft. Botteril has led us to 3 of the worse years in Sabres history and next year is likely to be more of the same. Injuries are part of the game. We didn't lose Sydney Crosby, we lost Marcus Johanssen.

I'm not blaming RK for this quagmire. Blame rests solely on Botteril for assembling this horrific lineup. Toe Blake or Scotty Bowman would not succeed with this lineup

Mitts is mediocre and only Cozens projects as top 6. We have plenty of 4th line players already. If we get rid of Okposo Girgensons, Larson then we’ll have room for more garbage
