Sidewalks are not curbside in the city any more than they are in the suburbs, unless you're talking about Main Street downtown, which isn't the issue (and the sidewalks there are wide enough to accommodate snow removal). I've had three homes here in 20 years, all three on major streets; all of them have had a grass strip between the street and the sidewalk just like Amherst. Even Elmwood and Delaware have space between the sidewalk and the street. Population density is an issue. But cars parked on the side do not impede plowing--trust me, I had to dig my car out of plowed snow when I lived on Richmond many, many times. They just plow the snow into the car and it's the car owner's responsibility to dig out, as it should be. Pulling together involves staying off of the roads, yes, but it also involves a collective discussion about how and why we are in the state we are in.

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Eleven replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Hi everyone. The presidency in question ended almost two years ago. Would you prefer to keep this thread going or to start a new thread discussing his laughable attempt to be elected again in 2024? -
For years, I loved Brown because he stayed OUT OF THE WAY. Buffalo's business development needed that and our resurrection benefitted from it. But "out of the way" isn't what we need anymore. I'm not a Poloncarz fan (mostly because of his lack of commitment to homeless causes), but I'll say this: when we have a crisis, the guy knows what he's doing. Hochul has annoyed me since her days as county clerk, when there was a backup of THIRTEEN MONTHS to record a mortgage. She's nothing but a crony who benefitted from a gubernatorial crisis and a lot of bad makeup. Still, she cares about WNY more than any governor we've ever had. We need to get rid of Brown. India Walton was obviously not the answer, for a number of reasons, but either the Democrat leaders need to tell Brown that enough is enough, or the Republicans need to propose a candidate who isn't a Trumpeter.

Also I'm starting a thread in the politics club for the people who want a deeper political discussion of what's going on. I don't think criticizing officials in this thread crosses the line and I would ask that mods not move such posts--but we can have a more robust discussion about the city-county-state relationship, and whether certain "leaders" are obsolete/ineffective, in the thread I'm going to start.

Oh WOW where can I watch this?
-
I'll repeat: I fail to see how the state or county could have done anything more than enact and enforce the driving ban a little earlier. I see no failure on their parts. The city is the only place where we can't drive, still, for a reason. And this isn't political--those three are aligned. This is just institutionalized incompetence in Buffalo.

It's not finger pointing. I wasn't kidding; the city has done a terrible job.

Well 3 assists per game is pretty good for a goalie so let's go get him.

Why does Suchanek's Elite Prospects page show him in a Sabres uniform? https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/522442/tomas-suchanek

Today (Dec. 28), all times Eastern: USA v. Slovakia, 4pm Canada v. Germany, 6:30 pm.

Possibly the wrong thread, but definitely the right idea.

Swamp, I like you, and I know you, and I want to keep you as a friend, but maybe don't come into this thread. 82-year-old mom or not (I've got some ottos myself). You're not getting it, and you're being a jerk.

No good German gives his kid a Russian first name. And what kind of last name is "Quapp"?

Yeah, three twitter posts.

May Lysell take penalty shots the same way during his entire Boston career.

1. Who is "we"? You don't live here! And the City has plenty of sno-cats, just not the giant ones that someone *other than me* suggested. And the point isn't to save people who flout the law; it's to make it possible to have shorter driving bans. 2. Yes it is. It already has become more frequent. Just wait for the floods at the end of this week...oh boy...

Unless every essential worker lives just north of me, I can assure you all that very few people are obeying this driving van. It went from about four cars per minute on Sunday, to eight yesterday, to just regular traffic today. And I'm not sure how many essential workers drive tricked-out Mercedes SUVs, but I've seen two of those in the last hour.

Good for you. Maybe take a step away from this thread and get off of everyone else's backs. You've spent more time complaining about us in here than we have spent complaining about the situation, now.
-
Because it SUX. It doesn't have to be innocents in the Ukraine being shelled or loved ones dying of cancer for people to want to kvetch about what's bugging them. We have a whole thread for BS complaints, you know? Do I wander in there and announce that others' complaints are petty? I realize this doesn't affect you in New Jersey because not even bad weather wants to visit New Jersey, but for those of us who have been locked in for 96 hours now, it's a good place to lay off steam. There are hundreds of other threads available...

I think we're all entitled to vent a little on this one.

Canada can't pass tonight. Not that it matters; it's just their first step in the normal plan of blowing the first game and then winning every other game for the remainder of the freaking tournament.
-
You're not wrong here. Starting the driving ban at midnight Friday (and announcing it Thursday noon) would have been the move.
-
Well, tell or don't, but the rest of the county is opening up by 7pm today. Buffalo isn't.

Finally some breathing room.
