  1. The sad part is, the Bills have pretty much always been the Bills EXCEPT for when Polian was in charge. You can find significant portions of the 60s, 70s and 80s where your description fit the team like a glove. Only in the 90s was there not a stretch of ugliness, and they have made up for it since. And yet I will watch every play ...
  2. He does have another year if he wants it but he'd be a moron to risk injury again ... If he really doesn't want to play for a team (which i do not believe he has gone on the record with, for any team), he can always force a trade like Eli or Elway ...
  3. No matter the year-to-year profit, the team is worth $800 million (in BUFFALO ... if auctioned to the highest bidder who might be able to move it, it could fetch a billion easy). It was purchased for $25,000 in 1960 and has no stadium debt. No matter how much is taken in taxes upon sale, the Wilson estate is making hundreds of millions in pure profit. So not matter how you slice it, saving a few million here and there the way they do business just to make a profit is more offensive to me than the way Golisano ran the Sabres. I am not usually one to tell people how to spend their money, and I am not saying he needs to be Pegula, but make an effort.
  4. if it's not giving you trouble, don't take on a new car payment until you absolutely have to. I am driving a 2001 Olds Alero with 118K miles on it and want to just drive it into the ground ... but the second kid coming in December may force my hand. (We also have a Chevy Equinox) ... obviously, I did not inherit the "car guy" gene from my dad ... but at least I learned to take care of them so they last ...
  5. I think it either keeps its title (if you lose your left hand, your right hand is still your right hand) or it's just NUT ... I mean, you don't have your center nose between your left and right eyes ...
  6. Not at all, actually ... but in those days my (former) step-dad always had Bud in the fridge at home ...
  7. Ha, well I can vouch that I never did get a hangover Straub's, but then the only beer that ever seems to hang me over is Budweiser ... or at least that was the case in college, been a looooong time since I had a Bud.
  8. I went to high school about a half hour from there and the locals will also swear by the fact that it's impossible to get a hangover from drinking Straub's (I guess because of the sugar factor mentioned above, but there's an equal chance this is an urban legend. Or, rural legend, to be more accurate for that neck of the woods ...)
  9. We used to freak this chick out because our giant printer/copier/fax machine was in its own little room with the automatic light ... and if you printed something, the paper coming out would trigger it. Took her weeks to figure out what the hell was going on.
  10. Well the problem is not that I am traveling but that I live out of town ... if the game never makes it to my TV, a slingbox isn't going to help no matter where I am. Checked that, it's not there either. We'll see what happens I guess, hopefully since I have the sports package and Center ice it will show up on either MSG or CSN ...
  11. Are any other out-of-town DirecTV folks NOT seeing the game listed on Center Ice? Usually by now they have any kinks worked out ... it's listed on 638 and 643 but those are supposed blacked out when you are out of market ... although there have been times I have seen games on them ...
  12. Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
  13. Yeah I'd like to hear the details on this one.
  14. While I am very grateful to still have a job, I will voice a complaint here that layoffs have left us with half the people to do the same amount of work ... and in some cases they laid off the wrong damn people. Also, no offense SwampD, but while I am complaining, Super Bowl is two words ....
  15. I fear no truer words were ever spoken ... or typed ...
  16. So, like, do you keep a cinderblock and chain in your truck ... just in case? I mean, I am assuming you don't make a special trip to The Home Depot every time ...
  17. I have noticed this also ... in my experience, it seems MANY more of their workers are of a different demographic than your average fast-food worker. At least around here, it seems like a lot of them are middle-aged women who are working part time because they want to get some extra cash, not because they are trying to make ends meet ... thanks for noticing that other post too, i thought it was just a bad line for a minute there.
  18. Since we are complaining, I hate when I talk to a friend from Buffalo (or see it on a message board like this) and someone "food drops" ... like, "Gotta go, we're going to Ted's!" or "Just got back from Duff's!" or any mention of Might Taco, Anderson's, Bocce's, Bob and John's .... the list goes on .... it makes me hungry and jealous that I am so far away. .
  19. Dude, why are you stalking the friendly fat girl from Subway to Dunkin Donuts? ;)
  20. Yeah but once you hit 16, Kevin Lowe can offer you a ridiculous offer sheet and your McDonald's will have to match and pay you like the 23-year old Fry Guy.
  21. OK here is the deal ... I have a BLACK, XL, autographed Rhett Warrener jersey that I am looking to get rid of ... not that I don't like the guy but I like to wear my jerseys, and this one is not only too small but like I said is signed, so I would probably not wear it anyway. It is in perfect condition, a friend of mine who used to work for Adelphia won it in some office raffle back in the day. I have no idea what I can get for it and like I said I'm not trying to get rich. I'd even probably trade it for a black XXL jersey if anyone has one that is basically new also ... blank would be fine, if it is a player it would depend on the guy. PM me for pics if you are interested ....
  22. I think they have figured out not to deke Miller ...
  23. Yeah except they make such a big deal of "showcasing the game for new fans" and then crap like this happens ... if it was just for diehards like us I would agree, but they continually ignore what their current fans want in favor of these mysterious new fans, and this what they see ...
  24. And now they missed the first shot in the hardest shot event so they could show us guys getting out of the Dodge Nitro, the official transportation for the worst-run All-Star Game in professional sports history! I'll be happy if they remember they pucks for tomorrow's game . ..
  25. for replays the railcam is fine, but it is not fast enough to follow live action and when they switch away from it you have no idea what is going on for a second ... it's just too close to the action to see the whole game. what a joke ... the automatic timer thing for fastest skater is broken, they are using a stopwatch... this league just can't get out of its own way.
