  1. I think it's a bit of "the best defense is a good offense." Because the Sabres are more of a threat offensively now teams might not be selling out in the Sabres zone as much. Under Kreuger I don't think opponents worried one bit about the Sabres in transition. But I also think the Sabres are more confident in their own end. We don't seem to get caught in that spiral death trap as much. We are able to break up plays and carry out of the zone. I don't expect Eichel to be back this year. I think he's fully shut down. It would be foolish to bring him back now. There's only a month left to the season.
  2. How did they look against the Rangers, a team fighting for a playoff berth? We'll also get to see how they play vs the Pens, Caps, Isles and 6 against the Bruins. Let's assess again then.
  3. They are 5 points out of the basement with a game in hand on Anaheim. After the Ducks they can climb a spot in the standings with every point or two.
  4. As long as it's a name coach.
  5. You're right that NJ was better overall tonight.
  6. True, but we are scoring now.
  7. Here's the ladder to climb:
  8. Would getting in front of the Devils be like making the playoffs for Granato? 8 points back after that win.
  9. They aren't in the building, you know. Calling it off a TV in Buffalo.
  10. Hole in one with the 7 iron.
  11. They may be the question to ask at the end of the season? Who got better? How many got better?
  12. Wow, snatched from the jaws of disaster.
  13. That was Eichel-esque.
  14. Brilliant save, brilliant rebound
  15. Well in spurts. I thought the Devils had the advantage in play.
  16. I knew someone would say they. He's been solid today. Just that rebound, bad.
  17. That's on Ullmark. Woof.
  18. With only 300 fans, a Sabres game sounds like the safest place from Covid in Erie County.
  19. Well let's see who's available. One thing about the "Holy Trinity" (Boudreau, Julien and Gallant) is they get you to the playoffs but never win it all and get fired eventually. Most of us would probably take that deal right now. Julien at least won one cup with the Bruins. Then there's the college route. I'll keep an open mind with Granato. If he can cobble some wins even after the trade deadline playing backups, he's earned consideration. Most of our remaining games are against teams in the playoff hunt and supposedly ours is such a tough division. Being over .500 playing scrubs is an accomplishment.
  20. Riv on the Instigators: "Sit him. Zero reason for him to play."
  21. No such luck. He Staal gets the OT winner. The Oil blow a 2-0 lead.
  22. Anyone watching MTL-EDM? Staal on the power play, turns the puck over to Draisaitl, gets a hooking call, negates the man advantage. Off to a great start.
