I base my estimates on the Ticketmaster seating charts. How many blue dots (unsold seats) are there? For the Lightning game, more than half the upper deck was unsold. One huge change you see now, are very few pink dots (resale tickets.) When there were more season ticket holders, they were dumping tickets for $6. People got used to paying those prices. Now you're paying box office prices. Sticker shock.

I thought they had energy early and while they didn't have many chances, they also limited the Rangers chances. But NY pounced on the Sabres errors. Then later in the game when the Sabres tried to press, the Rangers blocked shot after shot. Shesterkin was solid but that's easier to do when your guys don't let shots through.

Oh, to have heard RJ calling that hit.

Just an FYI: The Sabres under Granato are 11-5 in October games. They won both season openers.

I rarely eat at games. And if I did I'd get a chicken and rice bowl from the Rachel's stand. (I hear the Rachel's stand is gone since they are no longer sponsors.) I'd rather have a Beef on Weck and bowl of mushroom soup with a glass of the house-made Heff at Gene McCarthy's on Hamburg St.

I'm just curious. It's not like they couldn't sell more tickets before last night. Did they exceed capacity or did they make more room somehow? Or are they also counting fans outside?
