Stafford played last year??
Just enough not to gain a top 3 pick...
-
Yeah, because the coaching staff is reading this thread. :)
No, but the press is and they will pick up on it and keep driving TPegs staff and Darcy nuts.... Get 'er done.
I'm going to hop on the pro-stafford bandwagon two-seater. There is still room for a few more???
A few more, try an empty bus... :bag:
-
Only took one preseason game toget this one back up, eh?
This drum beat should continue everyday until he is gone... Just got a little tired of posting during off season. We should rotate every day one of posting that line.... How pathetic and he seems to have promoted Grigo's attitude too... Nuts.

Just an update on the 2014 class TSN.ca posted this yesterday: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=431088
The actual list; http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=49649

Anyway, I posted that IMO, he would not void his current contract, because he may not get another one. That's very different then saying he wouldn't get one.
What are you a lawyer or a beaurocrat trying to give your self some wiggle room... may not is a phrase that we used to use to sound like we were doing something legislatively, knowing full well any good lawyer could drive a truck through it in court. Really, so you obfuscated, while still sounding like you were making a point. So what do you really think, without modifiers or qualifiers. :P

The kid is 18.
He will be a very good NHL player in 5 to 7 years.
By that time the Sabres will either be ready for the next rebuild, or still working on finishing this one.
Oof and traded him for more draft picks or let him go free agent and sign for another team without any return... wash... rinse and repeat... oof.
-
To pile on... I think Rolston will do a much better job of showing Grigorenko what his role is and how to execute it better.
God I hope so. I did see moments of brilliance with his passing, but only few, he looked lost and appeared to lack aggressiveness. I will give him the benefit of the doubt for a short time and hope he doesn't turn into another Luke Adam. The Sabres need a number 1 center.
-
Geez the Defensive line (2nd stringers) look slow. What happened to all the new speed and playing for a position. Lack of effort is a signal. Cut...cut... cut.
-
Kolb leaves the game with concussion-like symptoms. Tim Connolly, everyone.
The new Tin Man... go to twobillsdrive.com for full game discussions.

Threads close?
Maybe this one could be combined with the Darcy Sucks thread... http://forums.sabres...ayer-screw-ups/

Stafford needs to go. For all the glimpses of talent he has shown and moments when he can be physical, his work effort sucks and his moodiness/ manic depressive attitude makes him a shadow of the effort Dupuis gives the Burgh. Please don't compare the two. Talent wise, maybe comparable, effort wise not even close.
This pansy needs to go elsewhere. I would trade Stafford for Dupuis straight up any day. I would consider it a steal.
P.S. My two favorite whipping boys if you haven't figured out are Stafford hopefully not to be replaced by Grigerenko and Darcy because he hasn't found a number 1 center in 5+ years or been very good at evaluating offensive players.
I give him an A- for Defensive players and goaltenders but Offense he gets a solid D. Not an F only because he seems to do be doing really well recently with 2nd to 3rd line players... and there is some potential in the pipeline. But like I said that gets him a D, just not an F.

this is a pattern thats about 31 posts long.
Mod, cleanup on aisle 7.
You wish, agreed it is a mess, but until Stafford is gone there is no sense in cleaning it up. Because every time you do Stafford comes along and dumps more crap on the floor that we all can wallow in and create another 24 pages of posts worth. Too much fun. My only question is, who will be the next whipping boy? Grigs?

And Here is the NHL futures list reported on the USHL website:

So, we've already written off the 2013-2014 season and have gone straight to next years draft. Sounds about right. (Less suffering that way...)
I have, didn't you read above and below my Avatar... :P

Trying to stay positive. P.S. Sneaky Pete's son Dominic is eligible and so is Daniel Audette, Donald Audette's son.
-
I thought after reading this article about Sam Reinhart and links to lists of other prospects it is not to early to start speculating.
Given the likely condition of the Buffalo Sabres next year to start following these guys and getting a sense of what might fit next year's draft.
Lets hope the Sabres qualify for a high draft pick or picks depending on Miller and Vanek's situations.

True in many respect, but those two could score, play together or on separate lines and they had magic at end of the game with it on the line. A young Roy was the third center and they had guys like Sanderson and Plante who could flat out fly and score. Toughness was an issue but hustle wasn't. The Sabres now have some toughness especially on D... much improved. But potentially losing Vanek and a dirth of scoring... Stafford is still here, why that head case is still around, just can't figure. The near future is going to be tough to digest. My only really hope is that again they finish dead last and get the number 1 pick, though I doubt it.I don't think Drury was ever a #1 center, and Briere while he was a favorite of mine was a tweener #1/2. If the Sabres can find two guys who would be classified as #2 centers between Hodgson, Grigs, Girgensons, and Larsson, I'll be happy.
Gonna be a long season.

This has happened before. There's a difference between stating your opinion and beating horse skeletons into dust.
I am one of those horse skeleton beaters, mostly because Darcy drafts well for everything but a center. Just can't figure it out and it drives me nuts. He barely can get good one's in free agency and non since Drury and Briere... consider horse skeleton beaten again.
But until I see a number 1 center, I have to consider Darcy's efforts a failure, not so much for this year but for the numbers of years the issue has not been addressed properly. Oooh Oooh, in my best horshak voice: Skeleton beating again...

We need one franchise guy to be the one we build everything around.
It could be Grigorenko, it might even be Girgensons (based on how strong he came on last year), or it might be someone we still have to draft if we really tank this coming year.
Problem is Sabres are hanging their hats on lets call it a "Wish Sandwich" "There could be some meat coming, but I only see two pieces of bread right now...."
-
Unless I'm mistaken, Spezza didn't play in the NHL as an 18 year, let alone an 18 year old without a training camp or preseason.
Valid points, he played OHL for 4 years, then part of a season in AHL before being called up.
Still concerned about Grigs because he basically is the only close to top flight guy in the center position the Sabres have and he appears to have issues. Would feel a lot better if the Sabres had additional options. Problem is they don't and Darcy hasn't gone to get one via trade or draft for quite a while now.
-
Hockeysfuture had the Sabres with the #8 prospect pool in the league before this draft. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us move into the top 5 when they update it. I'll also be curious to see Hockey Prospectus' organizational rankings, which should be out this week.
With 1 glaring hole a top flight center...
Been saying it now since Briere and Drury left.
Worst team in Franchise History

I might give the above some creedance, but this case your statement is a non-sequitor, given the fact there is so much to carp about on this team. Lets start with Darcy, go to Stafford, then Myers and consider Hodgson and Rolston... Miller ironically has been playing much better and while some of the young-un needs some work, I wouldn't cry about them.
The reason so much of us are loudly whining is because of effort of the above mentioned people... maybe not Rolston.
I actually like him. But you keep saying this non-sensical irrelevant statement if it makes you feel better. Me, I am going to wait til I see Stafford traded and the Sabres actually find a number 1 center.
