In his defense "the 895 merge" is correct i think as he is referring to a specific spot.
"The 5" in southern Cal is considered a specific noun out of disdain and is so referred to with heavy dislike.
Even Route 10 is not referred to the same way our route 78,

Just got back from a vacation in LA and San Diego. Here is my complaint....Driving from LA to San Diego around noon last Saturday, it took 3 hours for a drive that should have been around 90 minutes. For a huge stretch with nothing but the ocean on one side and mountains on the other, traffic would just randomly go from 0-20 with a few seconds of 40mph and then right back down to 0-20. This was an area with no entrance or exit ramps, just traffic slowing down for no good reason that I could see.
Isn't the 5 just wonderful that way.... If there were not so many lights and even then sometimes it is more enjoyable to take route 1 along the Coast from Oceanside South. The 895 merge is always a cluster.

The 490. Thankfully construction is almost done, but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to hate it.
Oh, and the little pickup that was driving eastbound in the westbound lane last night at 4:00am. Sure made for an interesting call to 911.
We had one recently that ended in a few deaths and national news. Hope this turned out better.

My son brought home a summer cold and now has spread it to my wife and I and I just got a report that my youngest son has a rash.... oh fun...
And it is raining for the second day in a row and in the 70s in the middle of August. What is this crap.

This might be a bit too serious for this thread, but I'm still in shock about the woman who went crazy around here last week and acted out her death wish with 5 kids in her van, killing 4 of them, herself and 3 other people. She was literally pounding vodka (the equivalent of 10 shots in 1 hour for a 130-pound woman) AND smoking weed behind the wheel. It sounds like she literally freaked out and decided to kill herself by driving the wrong way on a highway on a Sunday afternoon. Sure enough, a grisly head-on collision occurred within a few minutes. Suicide is bad enough, but how could she just decide it was OK to take a bunch of others with her? She killed her own young daughter and her brother's THREE young daughters, not to mention 3 random people in the other car. As one of the victim's relatives put it: rot in hell.
It is a tough one to swallow... and it happened just around the corner from me on the Taconic and route 35. Plus there have been a lot of bad accidents in the area in the last couple of weeks including a lot of bad drunk driving incidents and now the husband is claiming the wife had an illness and the tox reports are wrong. He is exuming the body.... He has to be totally heart broken if all that was going on and she was mentally ill... ooff. Sad.

Does Sony ever learn their lesson with proprietary products. You would have thought that after they lost the VHS vs. Beta war, that it would have been a lesson never forgotten.
Tonight I was looking for a digital point and shoot camera. I had it in hand and was ready to buy it until the clerk told me that it can only be used with Sony memory cards(Memory Stick Duo/PRO Duo Media) which were twice as expensive as the memory cards(SD/SDHC) for all the other cameras(at least this was the case in Target).
I put the camera back. What a joke.
I could have told you that... My recommendation for a point and shoot is get an Olympus. For point and shoots they are the best for the money, Canon makes some good ones too, but you can often find a pretty good deal on an olympus. Go to C-NET.com and read the reviews.

Yes. I couldn't care less about eavesdropping on the conversations of strangers. I don't care if you are talking on your cell phone, to someone sitting right next to you or to the wall, if you are talking louder than conditions dictate then you will annoy others. For some reason though most people find it necessary to yell into their cell phones.
LOL ...Guilty as charged, bothers my wife all the time, but I had my hearing checked and I am fine, has more to do with fatherhood disease.

If I want to drive the speed limit or slightly above it in the right hand lane and it is a multi lane road/freeway, pass me if you don't like, it instead of tailgating me.

That I don't mind, it is the idiots 5 miles per hour below the speed limit in the left lane or on a single lane road where the speed limit is already only 45 and I have to get to the highway and I find out the reason is that they are talking on their phone.... GRRRR!

my cheap ass french boss who doesn't pay me enough so i can't afford to play hockey anymore. all my gear has been in storage for exactly 1 year now. cheap bastard gives out bonuses like hand jobs at a sorority date party to everyone else in the damn company, but his sales manager? not happening. i only want enough coin to get in the local league, but it isn't happening anytime soon, so i guess i'll just have to sit in my office and imagine umburgering him when he's walking through the hall with his head down sipping his coffee.
Need to find a side job, you can't give up hockey... Where are you located? If near NYC, let me know. I can pay a commission % for photography gigs.

I hate people like the idiot yesterday who pulled out of her parking spot blocking traffic and proceeded to start texting... unbelievable how into their own little bubble some folks are. Actually she blocked two spots, the one she pulled out of and the one she pulled in front of and the worst is I "assumed" she was going to go so I almost hit her.

I am tired of editing photos and yet I still have another wedding to go through prints to order and another book to design due tomorrow. Shiiite.
