  1. Typo alert.

I just saw GoDD, not God.

    Hi Ghost,

    How's it haggin'?

    Hey

I'm peachy as always. I must admit I did read through 60 pages of rumors, speculation, accusations, and lewd comments about an NHL figure who was never brought up on charges but was investigated.

I'm wondering how anyone here is still allowed to post.

  2. I got an early start this year on looking at the combine film for the draft. I approach the draft the exact same way I do with a horse sale. I don't care how a guy played in college, where he is projected, his numbers on their own, or intangibles....UNTIL...I go through their drills and find guys based on build/conformation, fluidity/rigidity, efficiency of motion in all directions, physical technique, efficiency of strength, and confidence and alertness. My goal is to find the most balanced individuals, regardless of pure talent. Those are the guys that will have the best chance of making a roster or an impact in my opinion. If there is no film on a guy, I did not search anything down, so there could be viable options in guys who didn't participate.

There are some guys that are ok that I won't profile, and a lot that are ranked in the top few rounds that I don't care for and will not include. You can assume if it is someone ranked in the 1st - 3rd round and I don't have them here, they would be off my draft board. I will give *** rankings to guys I would love to target and who I feel are great value at where they are being projected, and + to guys who you might look at a little before average projections.

It's not a foolproof method, but it works very well for me and I feel given my eye, is probably 85% of what goes into finding an athlete. I don't have medical reports, police reports, and haven't traveled the country watching them or talking to acquaintances. I would also rather whiff by not taking a guy I don't believe in...like I did with Luke Kuechly.

OK...... first position....Offensive Line. My round projection is based on a standard to the position, not necessarily this specific draft. Last year was so weak in general for the entire draft, guys I was projecting 3rd and 4th round were going late 1st and 2nd. I think this draft is much deeper at quality for the OL.

Greg Robinson - T - Auburn - This guy is built perfectly for a mauling tackle. He is simply overpowering and has technique to go with that power. He covers ground smoothly on the move. While not perfectly fluid, for his size he is a mover. At worst you have a Pro Bowl right tackle who can blow guys away in the run game. I'd assume he is a top 5 guy.

** Taylor Lewan - T - Michigan - I was blown away by his balance and fluidity. He has a very athletic build and carries himself like a skill player. He can change direction on a dime. While not overpowering, he is so balanced and well built that to me, he is the best all-around tackle. While Robinson may be elite if he can get his hands on guys, Lewan should be able to keep up with any rusher at LT. He is an obvious target at #9 if there.

X - I wouldn't think about taking Jake Matthews in the top 10. He is rigid, not as balanced as either of the other 2, and lacks fluidity.

Cameron Fleming - T/G - Stanford - He is tall and played tackle, but is built like a guard with beef and stockiness. There looks to be untapped power because of his wide footing in his drive. He is very fluid at the hip though and one of the best lateral movers. Smart kid. Don't love him, but would be an ok depth guy who could swing. 3rd or 4th round.

Gabe Jackson - G - Miss St. - He is a bowling ball type of guard. He has good lateral movement and stays square to his man. Very confident and aware. While he looks more powerful, his technique probably saps some power potential as he gets off his heels. Would be ok in the 3rd, but no value and not enough upside.

*** Ryan Groy - G - Wisconsin - I just love this guy, especially compared to where he is being projected by most. He is an oak tree, big and wide, and is very nimble for his build. He is solid laterally, and fluid on the move. He projects confidence. The only downside I see is wide legs in his drive. While he is projected later in the draft, I would scoop him up all day in the 4th and even think about the 3rd. I get the feeling he is a bigger, more athletic Jerry Ostroski. Could probably start.

    * Weston Richburg - C - Col St. - Stalky, but conformed well. Fluid in open space and good lateral. Doesn't seem overpowering but aware and focused. Probably not a target for the Bills given Wood, but quality. 3rd

** John Urschel - G - Penn St. - Love the way this guy is built for scrappy guard. Great balance in his push and ok lateral. Smarts off the charts and sportsmanship. Another who is projected low, but I would have no problem in the 4th round and even a reach. Just seems to be lock for a roster spot at least.

Jonotthan Harrison - C - Florida - A little undersized, but very athletic build. The thing that stands out is his forward push and great technique in driving. He is average otherwise. His build gives him a shot to put on a few pounds of fat with no problem and could be a good project for C/G. 5th or 6th round.

Justin Britt - T - Missouri - Tall but a little rigid up top. He has good fluid movement however. Doesn't power through but has natural strength. Would be a good project that could move up with coaching. 5th or 6th round.

Overall: While there are about 8-10 guys in the first 3 rounds I didn't see value in, this is a deep position. Lewan is a target at #9 to me and would allow Glenn to go to RT. I think you can draft your starting guard in the 3rd or 4th round, and would bet dollars to donuts Groy could be the perfect fit.

Edit: I like Zack Martin - T - Notre Dame....a poor man's Lewan. Wouldn't take him in the top half of the 1st, but 20-30 is fine.

Sorry, can't put this in the Bills thread on phone.

Bills signed my boy Groy finally. He started a few games for the bears. I'm probably the only person in the city excited.

Looking back, every single OL I liked is a starter or was last year. Sadly the only whiff was Robinson.

Notice the lack of Kuwanjo and Richardson...oh Whaley.

  3. I dropped by because Freeman sent me a message about a podting issue in the system.

    And there you have it.

    I say I love Eichel

I say the immature things I notice he should grow out of.

I just urinated on a statue of of the Virgin Mary at the podium of a Knights of Columbus meeting.

    Enjoy guys. Be well.

  4. He could've at least had the courtesy to admit how great Eichel is while he was here.

This is the mindset that has prevented me from posting. Reading the board has been like watching the girl scouts smuggling the latest issue of Teen Magazine with Menudo on the cover into their tent.

Freeman contacted me to apologize for me not being able to post but it wasn't his fault. The system makes you accept fine print when you are banned. I hadn't done it yet this go around. I really don't have anything to say.

I believe i was called a troll for coming to the conclusion Murray was shopping the pick. Months later when media reports say the pick was out there, oh well.

I believe i was called a troll for stating i would trade the pick and Ristolainen to Arizona for #3, Domi, and Hanzal.

Since everyone is busy getting icky with their new periodical, i will forgive them for not following the Coyotes since they are of no use to the true fans this year in Buffalo who were rooting for them last year to beat their own team.

Eichel is fun to watch for the most part. However nobody points out the 70 foot tape to tape pass Weber gave him to score a goal as they crucify the only guy who gave a sh!t on this team the past 7 years.

Nobody points out that like a hotshot, he takes his shootout attempt on the backhand the entire way, ensuring the goalie has him locked down.

Nobody points out the times he is late on transition because he is in the middle of a combination of a WTF Wave, a Vanek Face, and a Hodgson backcheck after he misses a shot.

And nobody points out he goes into the corners for a scrum like a broad goes into the corner of the bathroom to kill a spider. If his stick was a Kleenex, i could just hear the, "Eww...eww...eww..." as he blindly jabs at the puck from a distance.

I love Eichel for the talent he brings to the city and he should eventually outgrow his faults. That doesn't stop me from wondering how adult men can drop to their knees in "worship", however.

I've got my coach, GM, and a lot of players. I'm just sitting back and letting it come to me.

In the meantime, y'all be good.

  5. He should yodel the next one. Yiiii iiiii ii iiI IIIIIII chelllll eeee llll eeeee llllll!!!!!

If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickeled peppers, how many Yiechels could the Yokels hear Rick yodel?

This is only a courtesy post. It seems i have been banned so many times that I broke the system.

I will link a gofundme page and am hereby charging 25 cents a post.

  6. In addition to what Qwk said, what good is being a sports fan if you can't bring yourself to talk ###### about your favorite team's hated rival?

What is good.....is being able to respect, support, truly believe in, and discuss honestly said object.

If your 11 year old daughter is in a softball league and she has improved over the past year......and her team is coming off a 4-22 season, yet the champions of the league from a few years ago fell from 22-4 to 17-9......you don't fire Russian semi-automatics into the air in celebration.....you focus on what you need to do and encourage her that the other team can be beat, but everyone needs to work 100% all of the time.

Odds are your daughter's team will be 10-16 and the rival will be 18-8 this year.

  7. Can you guys go post in the nonsense thread instead of the cornel thread, cool  :P

I know....it's like when terrorists can openly plot an attack from around the world by meeting up on some podunk foodie website and chatter in a thread about rhubarb pie.

"Aw...sir.....we figured if there was a threat, it would be coming out of the Eichel thread"....................

  8. Boys:  $1000 is awfully rich for this kind of thing.  Let's take it down a notch.

That's why I want to do a "humiliation" bet.

It's tough with Webster.....I could think of some fair trades with a few different posters, but this is tough.

I'm thinking like.....i win, i get to take over Ted Black's Twitter for an hour......i lose, I have to wash all the Battista family cars, floors, and pets......

  9. I will take the bet but double it up by adding that Buffalo will finish closer to the playoffs then a top five draft pick as you stated previously.

As for Boston itself, they made a horrible trade with Hamilton but have subsequently redeemed themselves with some other moves. However, there "D" will be a major problem long term.

I stated, "Odds are", which means better than 50/50.

I am stating Boston will finish higher in the standings next year than Buffalo and am willing to make a CRAZY wager. I can't stand the gloating about a team that has a Cup and another trip there in the same timespan the Sabres won a total of 5 playoff games and have come off 2 of the worst seasons in NHL history.

I'd meet you half way on a separate wager with the Sabres. I say they are closer to last place than making the playoffs, so if they draft 8 or a lower pick. I'd do that for $100......I'd do Boston for $1000 of value in some meaningful creative wager.......

  10. I like the analogy but the original post said he would play a major role in a Cup run and unless you think a 3rd or 4th defenseman can play a major role, it doesn't hold up. Like you said, he might be worth more then some of the Sabres "D" but he's a depreciating asset and worse, a liability if forced to play too pair minutes

I'm talking Boston on a whole.....

    Chara/Krug/Seidenberg/McQuaid

    Bogosian/Ristolainen/Oduya/Gorges

I'm being a nice guy and throwing Oduya in there......and I'd still take each of Boston's 4 over the others for next year.

    Bergeron/Krejci/Kelly/Talbot

    ORiley/Eichel/Girgensons/Larsson

Next year.....Boston all the way....5 years from now?

    Rask

    Lehrner

    Ummm....yeah.........

And Boston picked up 3 1st round picks in the process......

I'm willing to make a MAJOR bet Boston finishes ahead of the Sabres in the standings this year. Beyond money........a true humiliation or something of the sort.

  11. Wouldn't put money down they'll be better than the B's, but do expect it. (Thus the reason for saying they "are likely better than Boston" rather than they ARE better than Boston. ;)) Don't see Chara bouncing back.

Where's the fun in not making projections in the off season?

It was pretty funny watching people make fun of Boston here. They have the Sabres crushed in net, a decent edge on D, edge at center, and their wings are about equal.

It's fine to get excited about your team, but i've noticed as the years go on, this town knows less and less about what happens outside of the Buffalo Bubble. I'm sure not being relevant has a lot to do with it so people don't pay as much attention, but it's one thing to dream about what "could be" someday, and another to be honest about what probably "is", today. I think the fanbase is feeling good because the brainfreeze of eating Sabres Swirl Sundae has subsided. People are confusing the removal of pain with the feeling of actual pleasure. On a relative basis things are much better. That wasn't chocolate in there by the way.........

I also got a kick out of the Legwand trade. People calling it a favor and a salary dump for a guy who is and has been shot. He's 33 and was the #2 overall pick and has 600 points. The irony of in one breath calling him worthless, then in the next praising Eichel for 15 years of superstardom and fitting him for a HOF jacket is hysterical. I guess I just see the little ironies in life.......

I hope the Sabres can contend for a playoff spot. It's realistic to hope they can, but not expected.

  12. I was just commenting on the lack of meaning from the scrimmage itself.....you can't say a guy doesn't have it after 60 minutes, but, I can see where a guy has all the tools to have it, and Cornel was the only one that had me gaga at the potential.

I really think people need to calm down with the projections. I'd put $$ down all day Boston finishes ahead of them. Buffalo is projected to draft #3 right now....

    http://www.oddschecker.com/ice-hockey/nhl/stanley-cup/winner

  13. Didn't see any of the scrimmage. But, what you describe regarding Eichel was similar to his 1st WC game. By the end of the tournament, he was arguably the US' s best player.

Sure, you can't define a career in a 60 minute game of tiddlywinks. I was just saying, if you had me show up out of the blue and say it was a Columbus prospects game and I knew nothing about the players but the numbers on their back and their age, I would leave thinking Cornel had the best skill set to be a true top 6 forward on a real team.

I think Murray needs to address the defense, and fast. They have a load of commodity type big forwards coming. I'm not sure anyone makes it big time, but you should get at least 2 or 3 3rd/4th liners out of it. The defense is in trouble in my opinion. Your top 5 right now are Bogosian, who has an injury history, Ristolainen, who has really only put together a 20 game stretch of quality NHL level hockey and probably would have not dressed on Chicago last year, Gorges who may or may not have started to hit his wall, Pysyk who sat out months with a mystery ailment, and on his best night is Darryl Shannon, and Mike Weber, who is Mike Weber.

Unless Murray goes and gets Franson AND Odujya, he's going to need to make a trade for a top 4 guy who can move the puck. Given the depth at forward, you would have to think Foligno and Larsson are obvious candidates to go. They can be replaced with the pack of young guys in a year, and in all honesty, a line of Legwand, McGinn, and Gionta is probably much better than what those 2 guys can give you. You have Deslauries as a perfect 4th liner with ability. I'd like to see them go get David Moss and Max Lapiere and you have a 4th line that can each chip in 10 goals, be a nightmare to play against, and could eat up PK minutes.

It's a little nerve wracking watching the unbridled optimism from the fanbase. I like the GM, coach, and player pool, but odds are this team is still drafting top 5 next year. You paid $8 million for a #2 center, and if Eichel doesn't fire out of the gate, it's going to get a little dicey.

  14. Liked him tonight too.

What I noticed in his brief stint in Rochester to end the season was an NHL skill set, but he hadn't figured everything out yet on what to do and when.

Murray gambled on skill in the second and third last year. The raw material is there if they can develop him.

    It says he's 6'2" 185lbs.....he looked 6'3" 210-215 out there.

it's only a prospects game, but if I was scouting he would stand out. Bailey was nice too. Looks like Rienhart did well. It was too wide open and no penalties to really concentrate on defense. They were backpeddling most of the time and things were too losey goosey.

Eichel looked like he was trying to keep things too simple and was a bit of a coach's pet. He would hang onto the puck and was deliberate. He also gave up a few 3 on 2 rushes with the forecheck numbers to peel off and be the first off on a line change. I will attribute it to 1 game overthinking, but he didn't seem like a cocky player....that's for sure....closer to timid tonight.

  15. I only watched the first 30 minutes, but if you threw me in blind and said, "You can take one guy here for your team from here on out the next 10 years"......I would take Cornel.

The knocks on this kid were his lack of consistant effort and physical play. The guy looked like a beast of a 2 way player to me tonight. Speed, size, hacking guys, defensemen giving him space, worked magic with Bailey and Dupuy.......he obviously has been working at things.
