Listening to the color commentator (who is about as bad as I've heard) fellate Gregg Williams, notoriously all time bad guy, awful to deal with, despicable human and being; has been nothing short of nauseating. To top it off, to have to listen to him and Steratore defend their opinions on the forward pass fumble nonsense was the most self gratifying I've ever heard on the air. Get a grip.

I'm still struggling to understand why he was rated so highly. He looked like a 2nd round pick or later to me.

His shot, lack of top end speed and decision making give me a significant amount of trepidation anointing him anything other than "Former 1st overall pick". I recognize how good he is and how he tilts the ice but not being decisively better at something than everyone else on the ice with him is troublesome.

Yet the Sabres are still awful. This is why hockey is tough to be a fan of. The Sabres have two top 10 players at their positions on the team and they aren't good. Yet teams like the Islanders barely have anyone of note and are one of the leagues best teams.

Chicago is going to have to rebuild at some point soon. Not sure the Sabres have what it takes to get it done but I'd love to see them take a stab at it.

Yep. I think these are correct. GP G A PTS 24 13 17 30 51 21 28 49 Casey had a little better scoring rate but comparable to Zemgus. It still tells us that Mitts might never be more than 3rd, 4th line player.

Casey was in the USHL. Not sure if that qualifies as juniors. I'll put his stat line up against another current Sabres player at the same age: GP G A PTS 51 21 28 49 34 11 19 30 Pretty similar scoring rates. Anyone guess who's stats I listed first? Maybe we need to recalibrate our expectations. He was only taken 6 picks before our former all-star.
