9/11 ... To the innocent who died, I'll never forget. To the evil who prevailed, I make the same promise. Evil slaughtered innocents. Those are the first, and last, words I have for any 10,000 word conversation about 9/11.

BINGO! Thank you for that bi-partisan example to make a point!

It's not reassuring when the CIC commits to any military tactic or strategy publicly. The military is a tool toward national interest and policy ends. Those two things evolve daily. I reserve all rights with regard to my tools. I want my CIC to do the same. Reserving all military options can keep the peace. The equivalency lies in the misuse of the asset, not the policy ends. The equivalency lies in campaign promises that show a fundamental lack of understanding of power and/or deterrence. The good news is that I don't believe her, as odd as that sounds. Should she become CIC, I expect her to reserve the right to use boots. She will reserve the right, campaign sloganeering notwithstanding. Trump blowing motor boats to smithereens is as likely, or not, as HRC deploying troops in terms of how I make my voting determination today. Both statements were for domestic consumption today at the expense of awkward military execution tomorrow.

I'm laughing. I view those two facts as the only compelling reason to vote FOR Trump. Truth ...

I watched the replay. There's something to the "this team was built to beat Canada with grit and sandpaper" sense among the media. We'll see ... Awesome Marchand turnover leading to the USA's fourth. Quick was great.

Shows me pandering to a base or a profound lack of understanding of what a military is and to what ends it's deployed. Just like telegraphing that we will never, under any circumstances, use boots on the ground in a strategically critical part of the world where our adversaries, global terrorists, and vulnerable allies all come together. Man, these two ...dumb from opposite ends. Pandering from opposite ends.

Thank you ... and I think you're right. Awesome.

The most devastating 3 minutes of debate I remember in my lifetime. I don't want journalists to help. Interestingly, I'm not sure if Brokaw was helping or simply shaking his head "no" as Quayle talked through dead head time, searching for an answer. I saw "no, no, you're still not getting it". Who knows. Life's funny. I met Brokaw, backstage, at a speaking event in 2013. It was late in his career. His journalistic bona fides long since established, he was unabashedly philosophical regarding government and not shy about his view of journalists and political leanings. I remember him as gracious when discussing journalism and his career and resolute when discussing parties and politicians. Soft spoken, aged, resolute, gigantic.

Our politics head different directions. That said, I, too, winced at the question. I expect Johnson to know what Aleppo means. A good portion of America does. A candidate should. I remember Palin and the Bush Doctrine. I suspect that not 5 in 100 Americans could articulate the Bush Doctrine at the time. Fewer still could, today, without Google. With context, everyone could. I guess it comes down to what we want from journalists. Any high school reporter could craft a question, without context, that references a noun to inspire a "what do you mean" response. Failure to respond at tells us something. Providing context and listening to the answer tells us more. "Secretary Clinton, what's your view on the Battle of the Milvian Bridge and the subsequent influence of Christianity as reflected in today's Middle East?" Admittedly, Aleppo is not that obscure. It wasn't the worst "gotcha" question ever. Non-partisan take on media. I'd love Hoss's view.

I watched the Commander In Chief Forum. Generally, I agree with nobody* (the poster) and PastaJoe. One of my rubs, with many of the co-equal views expressed here by others, can be seen in how PastaJoe describes the first ten minutes. I believe Lauer would say he spent the first ten minutes talking about "judgment". That was his framing. Email was the example. I found HRC to be lawyer-like as she parsed. No criticism; that's her DNA and experience. It's worked for her. My thought going in was that a crowd of military personnel and their families would be a tough one to sell with parsing. I think that's how the exchanges played out. I found Trump to be, well, Trump. My thought going in was that a select crowd such as this could be one where he had an opportunity to shine. Maybe it was. He did not, however, shine. He connects with the angry. Given the opportunity to connect, explain and lead he missed all three pitches and struck out. There is no depth. "Terrible" and " great again" beg the questions "what was terrible" and "what will beg great, again". After months, he cannot respond to those two questions. Eleven posted a magazine piece a week or so ago. Good read. The story was written by an attorney who represented Trump years ago. The author described Trump as someone who's not thoughtful enough to frame issues but self confident enough to form conclusions and issue orders. The author might substitute "arrogant" for "self confident". Trump's DNA and experience is such that he's been successful with this. Thoughtful person whose character impedes judgment: D. Unthoughtful person without depth: F. 300 military people leaving to go home: "Oh, boy ...". *. I agree with nobody (not referring to the poster) quite often! Self-assessment: it's easy to disqualify. I have to "qualify" someone. That's my responsibility. It's the fourth quarter and I'm not there, yet.

I am going to remember this during any fancy stats conversation!

I don't know the Walton family well enough to be able to say "strange bedfellows". I do find this interesting, though. Ideologies are often full circles and not linear continuums. Presented without comment or insight, and with no disparaging glance cast in any direction. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/walmarts-walton-family-backing-clinton/article/2601211

Dearest Laetitia ... The long campaign in your honor has begun. An auspicious first step finds us graded A+, with a 10-4 predicted record, and tied with Mr. Menace for 1st place. In taking that step, we overcame fate and a 12th pick slot. We persevere. Week one, with its CastaNettes vs the CalveNots matchup, looms ...

I am officially calling for a Congressional investigation of SwampD and PastaJoe. Further, I am Tweeting this and including @TheRealSeanHannity. To be thorough, and because it involves two of you, I am emailing excerpts of RICO statutes to James Comey and Loretta Lynch. I want both of you to release your medical records. I suspect that you've coughed throughout your lives, and point to this as one more example of your collective unfitness to serve. I'll check back later .. I have to get some Robitussin.

I can't believe Julio Jones, Cam Newton and Todd Gurley have been suspended for the season!!! Tomorrow's press release will be interesting.

I figure out what "#####" means based on the preceding indefinite article. Bradford is to football as Bogosian is to hockey?

Thoughtful, gracious, important. Enjoy.

Commodore Norrington: One good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness. Jack Sparrow: Though it seems enough to condemn him. Commodore Norrington: Indeed.

Forgot ALL about that!

Happy Labor Day to all ... While many of my pragmatic posts elevate capital and free choice to co-equals of labor in our way of life, I don't lose sight that we're all laborers. No economic or political system means anything unless it advances the interests of human beings. Laborer is our first, necessary and most important role in these systems. Life is hard work and we're all laborers. Thank you all for THIS service. Konstantin Dmitrievich Levin

At the time, a trade of today when it meant nothing for tomorrow when it meant everything. I put that in the same zip code as Datsyuk to Arizona. I like 'em both.

I might have to work late on draft night. I don't want to delay or change anything. Just put me down for: Antonio Brown Julio Jones Cam Newton Todd Gurley David Johnson Rob Gronkowski Denver. You guys can have ANY of the remaining 1,500 players. As many as you want, too.
