  1. Me, too. I hope the spending is in line with the revenue collection. The GOP lip service. President Neo: Spending's frozen until the deficit goes away. Figure it out, departments. I did, my family did, my company did. And, you might want to think of another word for "entitlement". We're entititled to nothing if we have to steal from our kids to have it. Our kids will pay, thirty years from now, for entitled payments made today.
  2. You said it out loud!
  3. How many Angels can dance thought of the day ... Do we have the same criticism for innovators and technological entrepreneurs as we do for outsourcers and corporations moving overseas? Both result in fewer US workers, lower US wages and less government tax revenue. Both result in less expensive goods and services at any quality constant .... Asked at the philosophical level... there may be several this and that example that don't lead to that and this, of course.
  4. You may want to add Clinton's Glass-Steagall and Carter's Depository Institution Deregulation and Monetary Control Act while you're naming names for consideration. Heavens, Bob, your history book's been selectively redacted!
  5. There will be similar activity in the RNC, although Trump's win will define the changes. A loss to Clinton would've brought the same chaos in the RNC. Frankly, the chaos in each party could help us all.
  6. I won't accuse or label those protesting Trump as "ageists" with a bigoted approach to the elderly even though Trump is the oldest President Elect in history. I won't hatefully label those with different views. I won't ascribe bigotry to their individual characters. I won't because that would be, well, mean and wrong. Identity politics .... a curse. A plague when it becomes strategy, tactic, and policy.
  7. All eyes on the DNC. The election loss, particularly with its elements of surprise and outrage, has already lead to some finger pointing, sniping, and even shouting. I get it. There are losses, and then there are losses. The DNC's Goliath just lost to the RNC's David. I suspect the Philistines did some soul searching so many years ago. I've always liked Donna Brazile. She's as inside as they come, though, and the DNC inside smells of Clinton. That dog likely won't hunt in the near and intermediate term. She blew it with regard to debate questions, emails and candor. Some poor staffer, Zach, screamed his own actuarial calculations and life expectancy conclusions at a post mortem. She personifies the DNC as Clinton campaign HQ. The Bernie and Warren factions won't be fooled again. Brazile's toast. I hope she can work in broadcasting. Howard Dean announced he's available. I'm amazed when Dean's not available. "No", although I don't get a DNC vote. In the words of the philosopher Christine McVie, "yesterday's gone." He was an early adopter of ground game, technology and social media. That has merit. I don't believe, though, that being a tech early adopter is an advantage anymore. Everyone gets it. Thanks, Howard, for pointing it out years ago. You were correct. Now, get out of here. O'Malley's in, too. I know very little except that he's not Bernie or Hillary. Hey, I may have a favorite!
  8. Bobis, I have some sincere questions if you'd like to stick around. Some of DT's plans that made him attractive to his constituency will be hard to implement. Should he compromise on, say, the wall or a dismantling of the affordable care act, will your support remain?
  9. Bobis sighting!

  11. The problem with crow is that it keeps well. We enjoy someone else's struggle to choke it down today. Tonight it's in the refrigerator. Tomorrow, it's on our plate as a warmed up leftover. Not that I'm without my transgressions!
  12. Well, not at all directed at you, but I've heard a lot of the "he could've left it in the bank" commenteray and I think it's small ball. One, I'm not sure the math works. Two, thank heavens human beings don't leave it in the bank. The Wright Brothers could've bought CDs instead of wood, cloth and engines. I have a general admiration for those who choose the arena. They employ me. But, that doesn't answer your question, I know. His skill set is real estate and self promotion. We'll see how it translates. It's not obvious to me, either. He ran against HRC. I ask similar questions about her, resume aside, when I look for accomplishments. I'll not re-litigate that, but I understand that's not satisfying you. If I supported her, it wouldn't be satisfying to me. I understand why you ask. His advantage? He's not her, he's not Washington, and he made some big promises. For enough people, living in the right areas, that was enough. He won, she lost. There is no joy in Mudville.
  13. I think Haidt would say the same thing you and I say! "Command of the facts and consistency aren't the Donald's strong suit!"
  14. Birther was/is race. No arguement. Interesting find, today. Obama's 2011 White House Correspondence Dinner skewering Trump as Trump seethes. Morning Joe referenced it and called it Shakespearean. Our President can be a funny speaker!
  15. Oh, yeah man ... pretty damned good.
  16. Kane seems unconcerned with his ribs.
  17. I'm laughing (good laugh) as pastajoe works through his Kübler-Ross stages of grief!
  18. How about if I combine Moore's #2 and #3 and say "angry white men won't vote for a lousy candidate"? Then, I can take all the misogyny out of it. It won't make Michael happy, because he likes nothing more than a target for his venom, but he said it himself. "Because they're misogynists, they won't vote for this ...um ... lousy candidate. OK, maybe there are reasons other than misogyny." I think #3 gives legitimate cover to accusations of #2. That's my tiny critique. I'll give him 4 out of 5.

  20. Good to see you, too!
  21. "... and ISIS is going to pay for them, let me tell you ..."
  22. Cool Things We MAY See -- On his second day in office, President Trump could address the press as follows: "In the course of legitimate inquiry designed to understand a tragedy at one of our embassies, Congressional oversight committees asked questions that lead our adversarial political parties down paths of more and more investigation. Our FBI has concluded its investigation and found there's nothing worthy of prosecution. Our DOJ rests. While political acrimony left players and supporters on both sides less than totally satisfied, the complexity of the situation is such that total satisfaction may never be achieved. Seeking retribution at the expense of an individual will bring no profit to the country. Regarding the nation's security, we are satisfied that wrong doing has been brought to light and we are confident the same mistakes won't be made again. In the spirit of healing wounds, I'll ask Congress to address the security flaws going forward and recognize the acknowledgment of error as the participants' sole and only debt." President Elect Trump doesn't return my phone calls.
  23. . Never so elequently or succinctly as Shaw, but I've asked this of Haidt, as well. And, because life is beautiful, art gave me this peek at the righteous mind, AND Shaw's question, years ago. And PS ... this is a musical everyone should see. Humanity, and touchpoints, scene after scene.
  24. Cool Things We'll Never See - President Trump re-submits Merrick Garland's name on his first day in office, saying "The acrimonious relationships between different branches of government denied the American people a vote on the nominee of their legitimate President in 2016. I encourage an end to acrimony and offer to heal its last wound." Donald Trump doesn't return my phone calls. Post Scriptum ... not all obstruction is acrimony.
  25. I'm laughing a good laugh. You are a man of considerable fortitude. I'm glad you're here. I learn and you crack me up. Impressions of People I've Never Met: Zen-Like confidence, unperturbed, and comfortable. Carry on!
