I never said Dallas. Thanks for playing, though!

There is no best BBQ in WNY. Those aren't south enough. The only good BBQ in the country is south of Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Levi played fine under the circumstances last night. I recognize he made some gaffs but that's because he shouldn't have played 4/4 games; he needed to have at least one of those off. Other than the gaffs he looks like he can keep us in games which is more than can be said about the other two. -

In all seriousness, I thought for a long while there the Sabres rose to the occasion. It seems to me they didn't know how to corral themselves and play with discipline. Johnson's comments are in that vein. -

Meatballs is on the clock. This is on him and his unwillingness to address defense. -

Johnson's post-game with Hamsammich was very telling, I think. It's like he really wanted to say they don't know how to play team defense at all. I think it's somewhat condemning of Meatballs. -

Seemed like both teams were pooped out at the end of that period. I bet the second looks different. -

So thrilled to see the boys do the opposite of sitting back and taking their beating. -

Sitting here glued to the TV. I wanted to type in that I was liking what I was seeing from the Sabres. They're starting to match Calgary's energy. -

Calgary came to play. -
It would get ugly. Yankees are incapable of good BBQ. That's a fact after decades of testing.

This is the way. I submit that one additional standard would be their tortillas: the difference between a place that knows what it is doing versus the opposite is how the handle both flour and corn tortillas.

@Pimlach and @Taro T you're both obviously correct. I have no quarrel with any of your points. I have no doubt, too, that a mentorship under Laviolette is probably exactly what Peca needs to develop into a head coach. And while Peca's personal story of being repeatedly drawn into the orbit of an organization only to exit that orbit on multiple occasions, developing his skills and self along the way, only to return once again as a learned and battle-hardened warrior leader will/would be cool, and in this world more realistic, I'd like to see a tale of loyalty and success - some narrative that would negate the entire Lindy affair. Would have been a great opportunity for that while taking a chance on a new voice addressing our clear deficiencies behind the bench. -
You're all about people having their opinion, but seem to be policing the opinions of others in this thread. Why can't you just let someone say they think the food sucks and scroll past it? That's their opinion.

We tried El Palenque when they first opened up and were not impressed. They've been there a while, now, so they must be doing something right. We'll have to try them again.

He was traded away by the Sabres as a player. They wouldn't promote him after his success with the Buffalo Junior Sabres. He went out and proved he could work at the pro level and subsequently took another gig "nearby" with the Amerks clearly trying to advance his coaching career. The Sabres wouldn't promote him again so he walked. Why would he choose to work for the Sabres after giving them so many chances? Did we not all wish the Sabres would have upgraded their assistant coaches and add someone who could help with the PP and overall defensive play? This is the same team that is starting a young, unproven goalie with unproven goalies as backups, not to mention a roster full of unproven players - so the excuse that Peca needs to prove himself first is a bit hypocritical. -

I agree with every word in this post. I think the idea that Peca would come back to coach the Sabres after 'leaving home to walk in the darkness elsewhere" is peak reverie. -
And probably better teeth.

El Cubilete out by the Niagara Falls airport reminds me of every good Mexican place I've been to in Austin, Tx. Will second La Divina. Haven't been there in a bit but I remember when we first discovered them they gave me hope in this area's Mexican cuisine. Still haven't found a comparable BBQ joint.

If it's a delayed penalty did the goal stand?

I think all of the little kids and teens coming up through the ranks whose dream is to one day hear their name called by an NHL club's GM then walk up on stage and don a sweater that already has their name on it afterward thanking their mom and dad and all of the coaches they had who helped to get him that far will care. They may care a lot. From then on we have nothing but apathetic players who are really only there because of the money and that they don't want to become a banker, video game programmer, barista or an electrician. This same generation will fully expect one day while they're in the league the owners will next vote to forgo the traditional post-Stanley Cup winning circle around the ice in favor of having a virtual one presented to them by an AI Bettman on the video board who'll then go on for ten minutes thanking all of the sponsors of the season that just ended. They'll become unmotivated chain smokers of black market tobacco with no interest in signing pictures and sweaters for the kids who look up to them. Indeed, they'll hold their little fans in contempt, muttering to them to "get bent" or "you're better off searching for God, kid, this life will chew you up" or "nothing is real, kid, nothing matters..." Ray Bradbury approves of decentralizing the draft.
