Great interview with Donovan on Sabres Hockey Hotline today - if they post in on GR you should listen. He actually was up with the Islanders for the entire season last year but was scratched 70 times. Let's not forget that the Isle added Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy which pushed down everyone else in the rankings. Sounds like he has his head on right and will be given a fair opportunity to make the team.

I think the Sabres had 4 3rd round picks; not 2nd rounders. Down to 3 now with the Bylsma hire. So they have their 1st, no 2nds and 3 3rds? Is that right?

If they can skate and have the height; a good strength and conditioning program will get them the muscle. That's why the Sabres hired Adam Mair and Krys Barch as player development coaches.

I think everyone else is still on a Eichel / ROR high. The 21 was ridiculous, especially when they were forced to also take Legwand. If the Sens were forced to throw in say a '16 2nd round pick then maybe it would be ok.

By time all the big new contracts are due the salary cap will probably be 90 million and all my worries will probably be mute :)

Unless? Have you not noticed how GMTM loves to move his picks and future players. In 2 or 3 years when the Sabres win the Cup I'll probably die from happiness. But if I don't; I'll want them to be ready and able to win another in another 2 years.

No I think they knew they could sign them because they made sure they had the 'support staff' behind them to continue to compete at the highest level.
