  1. I guess we know one team where the players have embraced the tank.
  2. FYI - the leagues are already set to auto-renew next season but I don't have any desire to do them. So if anyone wants to take them over feel free to send me a message with your email and I'll transfer them over to you. Good luck for the final weekend in the finals. In SabreSpaceBlue we have Derrico with a blowout currently over DeLuca but the margins on many categories are razor thin and could turn quickly. In SabreSpaceGold we have a nail-biter! dudacek and DeLuca all tied up with possibly the winning category being if anyone scores a short handed point.
  3. That's all fine and well - but as I said, wouldn't it be nicer to have that "even better elite prospect"? The Sabres have a very nice amount of potential talent on the way in the next few years. Stome or Marner or whatever other player will be a very fine addition to that prospect list. But at this stage of the game, shouldn't everybody be happier if they are able to guarantee to get a piece of that "awesomeness" ?
  4. That is correct. Having that elite prospect as your #2 center because you have an even better elite prospect as your # 1 center is better than having that elite prospect as your #1 center and having a very good talent as your #2 center.
  5. That is true. He wasn't Jonathan Toews until Chicago drafted Patrick Kane with the #1 pick the following season.
  6. I'm glad you're prepared. I've had my fill of valiant efforts to fight for 9th place.
  7. Reinhart will be fine. Reinhart would be even finer if he were to be the #2 center with McDavid or Eichel as the #1 center. Having an 'elite' prospect allows you to slot your players into positions where they are superior to the opposing teams lines. I don't understand why this simple idea doesn't appeal to everyone now when the team only has 5 games to go to accomplish that task.
  8. I found it enlightening. It says that dark really doesn't care what the team does ("It's just entertainment.") Win, lose as long as it's a good value for the show. He's not in it for the passion of the crest.
  9. I can really see a GM on another team looking at a Sabre player and saying: well, that player really sucked all season but they sure did put in a good last 6 games of the season. I'm going to sign them up.
  10. They are playing for the name on the back of the sweater; not for the crest on the front.
  11. I can see the newly motivated Sabres going 3-2-1 or 4-2 (real record; not CHL) in the remaining games to pick up at least 7 points putting them at 57 or 58 for the season. The Pens will be resting everyone they can that last game so the Sabres either win or at least pick up the OT point. I can see the Coyotes losing out but maybe picking up a max of 2 points. That would put them at 56 points for the season.
  12. That's what I'd guess also. Haven't seen any reports yet for the reason. Team skate not until 2:30 ET.
  13. Andrey Makarov recalled by Sabres http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=760587
  14. Just make sure not to step on the silver circle bricks - they'll whisk you away into sweat swamp.
  15. I understand - the Sabres need to suffer for another 3 years before they should be rewarded.
  16. With a little help, by losing out, from the teams above them; the Sabres can finish 26th if they win out! Here we go Sabres, here we go! (That makes me a fan again, right?)
  17. The 'Dead Wings' were a laughing stock for most of the decade prior to that draft. I think they had as many fans as Arizona does.
  18. Really? I didn't realize. Oh, wait - the tv feed uses those same words you heard on the radio feed. As the saying goes - a picture is worth a thousand words. In my opinion I saw a situation that looked worse than the words I heard.
  19. Since you didn't see the situation - you didn't see Hackett first just lying there motionless for some time and then writhing in pain where it looked like they would need to bring out a stretcher.
  20. I still hold a grudge against people that were happy the Sabres traded Tom Barrasso.
  21. It's a minimum 80% chance of losing the lottery. Losing the lottery is a given.
  22. I root for the crest on the front of the sweater; not for the name on the back of it. As a fan I want the team to win championships. If that means they need to have a bad season to have a much better chance to attain the goal in the end; so be it. The only thing I care about the name on the back is that that name is the best name to help the team win championships.
  23. Just another vet playing out the string; waiting for season to be over. :)
  24. I'm expecting Grigorenko to score hat tricks in both games against Arizona.
