As I said in another thread, the minimum return for JJ must be a top 2nd pair RH D who can move up to first pair in a pinch when needed. The Rangers can’t satisfy that requirement. But KA will certainly settle for less. I don’t give a crap if JJ wants out or not, he’s a valuable asset that we control for the next several years. He can continue to play well for us as he auditions for impresses potential trade partners in the future.

The gross number is misleading as Canada has a very healthy GDP per capita given its relatively low population ( I think they just recently surpassed California for the first time). They are also a major supplier of minerals, oil, and other resources to countries all over the world, including the US. While the US GDP dwarfs that of Canada, as it does every other country, we really aren’t in a position to crash their economy as there are so many other geopolitical factors at play at any given time.

You will never see right wing media mention any of these statistics. EVERY economist who researched the impacts of Trump’s economic agenda leading up to the election predicted a disaster. When even the likes of Goldman Sachs predicts your plans will be harmful to the economy, perhaps you should take note.
