  1. You realize that 11 different franchises have won the Workd a Series over the last 16 years? It is the one sport without a cap and it has the most different champions over that time.
  2. Which is why he spent the second part of last year learning left wing. If he can't play, he goes to LTIR and the contract is not a problem. If he plays the contract is good value.
  3. Not sure anyone else has posted this but rookie tourney in Buffalo this September likely to include Bruins, Devils and possibly Penguins.
  4. They are, that's his point, $10 million American is about $14.5 Canadian
  5. And from the glass half full department, he scored at least 30 points in 5 of his last 7 seasons. This is a great signing with virtually no risk.
  6. They spent the year getting him nor comfortable on the left side and whenever injuries or call ups didn't interfere he played LW.
  7. Bailey has been playing LW since about half way through last year.
  8. Austin, Kea and Dupuy not qualified
  9. FWIW, I am a big fan of Foligno and believes he was un-appreciated but I love the trade.
  10. Kris Baker just tweeted this yesterday, said it was just his opinion and nothing he heard. He seemed higher on him then previous posts.
  11. Thanks, but its not that big of deal. I can deal with it.
  12. I would like everyone that is interested in getting tickets through me to pm me so that I can put a list together. I plan on corresponding via pm's. As someone said earlier, we will give priority to those who went last time but we may need to set a deadline for responses so that I know before August if all tickets are needed.
  13. It should be interesting this year. I'm hearing a lot of people are dropping tickets this year which could greatly impact secondary market. Might not be as many people in stands but value of tickets could go up if only choice is box office or someone paying season ticket prices.
  14. I should be able to get all 16 tickets for this game if you guys are interested. Is there a way to do a group personal message so I can communicate with those interested without posting on here?
  15. Sorry about that, seemed appropriate in this case.
  16. First, I want to say how much I appreciate the passion and knowledge of most of the posters on this site. Second, as a numbers guy myself I appreciate the effort put in to the research and dedication that goes into your work. However, most general managers don't do their teams drafting, and almost none of them do any of the drafting after round 1. They might be the ultimate decision maker but it's based almost entirely on reports they receive from their staffs. It is one of the things that GMTM hated and a big reason he took a more active role in last years drafts. As for the graphs and numbers, they are nice when assessing value over a period of time but these picks aren't made in a vacuum. Take for instance, the first round picks that someone posted that the Sabres made from 1999 through 2004. The first four players were washouts and would seem to indicate a huge failure on the Sabres part, until you look at those draft years and see that they had little to none better alternatives. The fifth pick, Keith Ballard was actually a very good pick who later was a big part of the Chris Drury trade.
  17. Punch did a great job building a team from nothing to competing for a Cup within four years. Losing Dudley, never truly addressing the goaltending and the McNabb and Jacques Richard deals set them back.
  18. Smith is definitely on my radar.
  19. Yep, sitting pool side and not looking to put too much work into it either.
  20. I'm not sure Patrick Kane is in the top 10 but he is definitely not #3. But I'd make the trade that apparently isn't happening st this time.
  21. Technically, started taking cash from Rigases which the Rigases "graciously" converted to ownership shares before eventually taking control of the team.
  22. The Knoxes spent with the big boys for a large portion of their ownership. It wasn't till teams went from family ownership to corporate that they pulled back.
  23. Ballard was actually a great pick who ended up resulting in Drury. The rest of them, look st those draft classes and find players picked after them in the first round that would have made a difference. Those were bad years to be drafting in the 20's.
  24. The college free agent thing is so over-rated. No top end prospect is going to stay in school and forego $900K for 2 or 3 years just to become a free agent in 4 years.
