  1. I think it's the flexibility. You aren't beholden to a schedule or some company to get your hours. Your can do as much or as little as you want.
  2. Yeahhhhh I know you :p
  3. Who's doing it? I know Chz is. I think ink mentioned it? I'm starting to come around on the idea. I have a car that is perfect for it and I like the idea of being able to just fire the app up when I'm bored and take a couple fares. Has it been worthwhile or a waste of time?
  4. Nothing like playing the Sabres to bust a slump.
  5. I'm gonna have some grilled cheese for lunch today I think. I also love smoked gouda and bologna. Life is too short to be a snob about all things that are good. American cheese is good.
  6. I just have no interest in the transaction. I can think of an endless list of things I would prefer to spend my money on and strippers are nowhere to be found. I DD'd a bachelor party to a strip club a few years ago. I had a beer and was impressed by the athleticism of a plus sized woman who was dancing, but other than that it was a completely pointless experience.
  7. That is good news for us. We aren't going to be free agent dabbling anyway.
  8. You said we should watch Goon once it snows, and today is our first real snow. So let's watch Goon instead.
  9. I've made this similar point a few times here. What you think about it depends on your school of thought as far as what the role of a coach is. For Bylsma I think he felt his job was to cover up all the defects and hope for the best. Try not to lose. Housley and Botterill seem more interested in evaluating, and so the facade gets torn down exposing the rotten truth. Should Bylsma have done the same? I don't know if we could reasonably have expected him to. I think he and Murray were trying to cover up Murray's mistakes. But Bylsma wasn't a miracle worker. All the kings horses couldn't have kept this team's dirty secret under wraps for long. I don't like Bylsma and I'm glad he's gone, but I suppose credit is due for him trying to keep his boss in a job... It would seem to me that Murray was The Concept of ZFG, whereas Botterill and Housley appear to actually embody it.
  10. We have truly hit rock bottom
  11. Because there's only so much you can do if the locale doesn't want to support the team. If the Islanders have nowhere to play, welp, then they have to move.
  12. Weird comments from Bob there. Not sure why Florida would need a goalie. They already have Reimer who is 29 and is signed for a few years. Unless they want someone younger than Reimer? I don't know if I'd want Reimer at 3.4mil for 3 more seasons after this one. He's not been great. The Panthers have the cap space to extend Lehner but they'll have a ton of money tied up in goalies, which doesn't seem smart. I can't see Florida being a landing spot for Lehner. And I can't see us wanting Reimer.
  13. I don't understand the American cheese hate. It's got its place.
  14. I've never understood the aversion people have to tattoos. I blame my childhood bus driver for blasting that one apart for me I guess. Mr. Bill was the coolest and he had a in grim reaper on his forearm.
  15. I dunno. I can't imagine being emotionally invested in something and also having extremely basic knowledge/opinions on that thing.
  16. I have a completely separate complaint from the current discussion and it's that I wish volunteer work was tax deductible. I could really use some extra income right now, but I don't have any desire to pick up some crap job. I would rather learn a new skill or do something a little more valuable if I'm going to give up some of my leisure time, but volunteering without pay at the moment would be a misuse of my time.
  17. I figure it evens out. I get the buzz cut, she gets the nice hair. But I drink like 3 x as much beer as she does, so...
  18. I'll be in a lot better shape once the credit cards are paid off. It was worth taking the debt on when I went back to school a few years ago because it landed me in the good job I have now, but it's taking a long time to recover from. Half of my salary right now is going right back out to pay on debts.
  19. Which would have been fine. I'd have liked to have kept Briere though.
  20. Yeah, I like keeping finances separate. Especially since Josie owns her own business. She's a saver, so I don't need to check on her, ya know? She's the one with money in the bank, no debt. And most of her diet is pretzels and diet ginger ale. She buys stuff from Lush sometimes. That's about as extravagant as things get. And I would never want to burden her with having to look at my finances, at least not at the moment. She'd have an aneurysm. Three credit cards with 0% interest balance transfers on them, nothing in my savings account, $14k on an auto loan, $64k in student loans... We'll keep things separate I think.
  21. I think you're right. I think children has probably played a role in at least two of the five friend divorces. I think that's just something you have to come around to. Some people probably never do.
  22. I don't think being married should change things too dramatically. But who knows. People are complicated and the slightest things can screw up their heads. Imagine someone suddenly becoming a control freak like a switch flipped? I bet it happens. But who the hell can predict it?
  23. I think it's mostly a crap shoot based on what things in life you value, shared priorities, etc. Something like taking a new job or discovering your spouse is terrible with money once you combine accounts. Who knows. I'm not worried either way I guess.
  24. I'm looking forward to our eventual wedding. It'll be fun. I'm not looking forward to more friend weddings. Might be time to start buying the bride and groom separate gifts...
  25. I just picture someone like Goose reading Briere's comments now and suddenly remembering how pissed he was that summer. I betcha he was mad that we ended up with Vanek instead of D and B. I bet a lot of guys on that team were mad.
