Holy Mackerel! Sabres Win Dahlin Lottery!

BURNINATING THE COUNTRYSIDE BURNINATING THE PEASANTS -
No one covets Robin Lehner and no one is taking Robin Lehner in a trade because no one will qualify him at over $4mil/yr. He's going to free agency where he will be had for a cheaper price.

Holy Mackerel! Sabres Win Dahlin Lottery!

I think he's just one of those people who has no knowledge of history. He's never watched a lick of history channel, or been to a museum, or considered anything remotely related to a social issue of any sort. He's only ever done business things. So because he's a rich white dude who probably hangs out with conservative business types a lot, the NRA has probably been discussed in his circles as a branding success. The context of the NRA, gun violence, black communities, Kaep, etc, is completely lost on him. He's probably never heard the phrase "the final solution" used in the context of the holocaust. He probably just has no idea. It's gotta be weird to be his kids... -

Right. Although his comments the other day about the NFL needing to be more like the NRA were a little more suspect. -

Right, it's not really bad. But it's just another one of those phrases that I would never use in any capacity in the business world. You'd think, being in that world, he'd have that one completely scrubbed from his head. I just thought it was funny given his propensity for saying weird stuff. -

He uttered the phrase "the final solution" earlier in his call about the Bills and it was yet again not the best choice of words... -
I thought it was a Panny of Rasmi

You gotta let that stuff go man. Scouting is so much better now. Picking a clunker at #1 is basically impossible.

It moved.

I don't know if we can afford that. If anything we're a team that needs to find a way to shed some bad contracts.
-
Hellebyuck almost saved that goal. What a game.
-
That's why I picked it.
-
Yup. I love how Winnipeg plays. Every player on that team has bought in to playing the game fast and fearless. Individual effort is expected.

Probably picks and prospects. The Caps don't really need much as far as roster players go. They have plenty of cap space to lock down their D free agents which is their only area of need. I could even see them qualifying Grubauer and then trading him during the season if they end up having a need somewhere. But I don't think they have to trade either of their goalies, which makes them a tough trade partner.

When I took the course years ago the experienced guys in my class also had the hardest time, so you're not alone. Us noobs mostly did better on the exams, especially the slow speed stuff. The instructor's explanation was that old habits are hard to unlearn. Glad you passed.

I don't like trading for goalies. I think you always end up overpaying. Maybe if you can get a deal on a guy that a team has soured on for no good reason? Or a veteran guy on a team that is going to tank? There aren't many goalies out there that I covet. I know some people think Washington is the obvious place to pick someone up from because of Grubauer and Holtby. I would take either guy. I might look to Vegas who seems to have a good goalie prospect pool. Do they move on from Fleury and would you want him? My personal choice is Miller because he'll be cheap and can platoon with Ullmark. But I don't think he fits your "playoff goalie" request. Would you take Lundqvist from NY if they retained salary or took a bad contract off our hands? I might. Saros from Nashville could be a target. Not much else out there that I'm interested in.
-
Sure. But it won't be him. Because he didn't want to be here and he's a problem off the ice for this squad.

What we need is a pest. This team distinctly lacks one of those guys who is just a huge pain in the ass. Aggressive on the forecheck, can score, maybe a little dirty.

Housley Should Have Until End of December
darksabre replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
I might have. But the question becomes what do you really want to know, and what are you going to do with it? I think GM's know that their players are probably up to shenanigans and mostly let it go. Kane trying to sneak the underage guys into Coles, showing up to practice hungover, stuff like that. But at some point that stuff is problematic. A good team can probably let it go. A team like the Sabres can't afford it. -
Penguins about to get jobbed on an obviously good goal

I think we'll see what happens and have to try to draw some conclusions from that. Is Risto a party animal who doesn't like being coached? Was Kane a bad influence? Was Lehner a downer? O'Reilly? Are there toxic cliques? Some things have been suggested by local media. What Botterill does may offer some confirmation.
