The whole team's passing was pretty bad tonight. Too bad given Ullmark played a good game. -

Skinner better stop shooting or Sabrespace is going to get mad. -

It was a trailer park boys reference. -

I think, yet again, people have duped themselves into unrealistic expectations. That's not really my problem except that this place is filled with bad takes and is basically unreadable because of it. I didn't have a problem with what Casey did there. I'd have liked a goal, but it was an opportunity in a game that has lacked them. Maybe the team could work to generate a few more of those so that I don't have to read page after page of garbage posts. -

He was certainly trying to. Apparently that's a problem though. Never miss a shot Casey. In fact, never shoot. This forum demands perfection. -

Or maybe Rask swallows the puck and there is no rebound and everyone is cursing Casey for not trying to score. I expect better from this forum. -

He was trying to score. Maybe putting it onto a leg pad to generate a rebound to the open side is a better move but that's all hindsight since he didn't score from point blank. *shrug* -

Because what you see as open net from the angle we're at Mitts sees as completely obfuscated by the goalie. It went over the net because he was trying to pick a corner. This isn't rocket appliances. -

Ullmark doing his best to make up for our lack of talent, but... -

Positive waves! The Bruins are beatable. I think Ullmark gets this one since he's Mr. Saturday. -
Your thoughts on these proposed amendments...

I don't really see the need to make rules about this stuff. How about we just actually vote for people who best represent us? -
Playing themselves out of a playoff spot.

I think a lot of people don't fully appreciate where this team was at after the mess GMTM made of it. GMTM's "accelerated rebuild" was his undoing. I'm not going to criticize Botterill too quickly for resisting the temptation to make the same mistakes. His plan is likely longer term than the fans would like. Whatever. -

This was bound to happen given the lack of depth in the middle of the roster. It will be interesting to see if anyone is able to rise to meet the opportunity. I think the streak really screwed a lot of people up in the Sabres fan world. -
I don't think Botterill has any plans to try to push this team into the playoffs. I suspect that he laid out goals for this team at the beginning of the season and his plan isn't going to change just because they appeared to be exceeding those goals. He has always stated that trades for rentals aren't in the cards and I would expect that to continue to be the case. If he makes any moves this season it will be for younger players on contracts he can control. Can't be missing the forest for the trees.

Agreed. The Heritage Classic was the originator of the Winter Classic and tbh should probably overshadow it. Watching two Canadian teams duke it out outdoors is always good.
-
Where'd you see that?
-
I like the Winter Classic, it just sucks when you get two not-great teams playing in it. Ours was so good because the Sabres and Pens were two of the league's best teams at the time. It's really hard to top that. I think they need to knock these "stadium series" games off though. They're diluting the spectacle with that. Just stick to one outdoor game every year.

The trophy is a beer

I don't know why but I'm thinking he tweaked his back or something in the previous game. He probably rested and thought he could go but wore out as the game went on, ultimately pulling himself out. Something that the training staff could work on and he could recover enough in a few days to get back in the game, but the only prescription in the meantime is rest.
