  1. Never give in! It is certainly not mandated that the players go on a vacation. Time off, sure.
  2. Spoiler alert: KA has no intention of doing this. Latest existential question: why do we do this to ourselves?
  3. You telling me SS is full of numbnuts?
  4. He has nine goals in his past 42 games. Is his presence or absence really going to be a determining factor either way? Why do we do this to our kids?
  5. Sabre's should hire that man.
  6. ska... Not quite sure how to read your Doom and Gloom dig. But wouldn't missing the playoffs again, even narrowly, be reason for continued doom and renewed gloom for next year? Man, I am really not up for another heroic run that fools people. But I guess it's what they do. Start your term paper late, make it passable with an hour to spare and celebrate the C- with a beer. If I wanted to be really cynical I'd say it's all by design. Do as little as possible to ensure the team is not a legit playoff team, then do as much as possible when it's too late to convince the customers you were legit if not for 1. 2. 3. and will be legit in the fall. See also score two late goals to get back in it/lightly graze the goalie's helmet to start a mini melee. We are suckers.
  7. This is what you try and tell people who say wait until Christmas or the All Star break to make judgments on the playoffs. You can't fall behind in the race and hope for a hot streak later on. The Sabres have won 7 of 11 and fallen two points deeper in the hole. On Jan. 1 they were 7 points back with five teams to jump over. They still have five teams to overcome but are now 9 points out of a playoff spot. If they play out the final 33 games at the same pace as the first 11 games of 2024, they will finish with 90 points. Not enough. 7-4 is hardly setting the world on fire. It's a 104 point season. So there's room for growth.
  8. No offense Lou. It's a valid topic. But...
  9. Less... Dahlin. In the context of a woebegone franchise, nothing about him gets me excited. Less... Levi. Sorry, just poking at the mindhive that was SS in the spring. More... VO. I love my Fargo memes. More... Max. He's fun.
  10. And as for suffering, Darcy might have been on board with a rebuild, but he said the owner would determine the extent of it. I am very skeptical that Darcy actually got fired. I don't think his idea of suffering lined up at all with what Terry and Pitt Crew had in mind.
  11. To your question, bringing him in. I weasily used the word "move" bc I couldn't remember if he came via trade or signing. If only a technology existed that would allow us to research such things. Spoiler alert: it was a trade and sign. No wonder my addled brain was confused.
  12. Not to go all Thorny here, but what's the statue of limitations on that? The Sabres were 90ish point teams that missed the playoffs the two seasons after the loss of the co captains. Then they were returned to the playoffs two years in a row, winning the division one of those years. Everyone knows what the fateful day was. Does anyone think Darcy was the driving force behind the Ehrhoff move?
  13. I like that first star choice. Anyone can look at the scoresheet and select the player with the most points. Tage was fierce.
  14. Would drivers please pretty please stop giving up the right of way and waving me to proceed? I don't get it. I hate to stare them down and most of the time tick them off, but I will not allow anothet driver to drive my car for me.
  15. I think it was the shift the top line and top pairing D had pretty early on.
  16. Milt told Rob about the layers. Now do we have to drop layers into our posts for 2.5 days before forgetting about them. Humans are indeed the most hackable species. Layers? That coaching staff must really know what it's doing.
  17. Rich Kellman sighting. Use to be Buffalo guy now on KABC.
  18. The ever responsive Don Granato. The experience will serve Levi well in 27-28.
  19. You don't think Kevyn knows why he has the job? He's not going to cost Terry one plugged nickel by firing people who are under contract. That decision will come from Terry. All bets are off there. Track record would suggest changes, but the Decade of the Yacht is looming, too.
  20. Not only was it reasonable, but a rookie goalie was going to lead them there on the way to a Calder Trophy if not the Vezina. I have the receipts. All 103 of them.
  21. Oh hell yea! And tonight I can watch virtually all of it. Sabres hockey is gettin' good. Last night was fascinating. Among all the blunders came the money shot of the season... Jeff tried to break his stick over his legs in frustration and couldn't do it. Casey chuckled inside.
  22. That isn't my issue. He's a buffoon. Not just the style but the substance. He called the game for Anaheim when they went back up by 2. Unprofessional. Of course DG threw in the towel, so maybe not. The woman was also terrible. You're a hockey mom. Great. Nice stereotype. And she said pulling the goalie with five minutes left wasn't about trying to tie the game, it was about building something for the Kings game.
