  1. Future Sabres announcer in that clip. But only if "fine young man."
  2. Good stuff. But I was trying to remember when the Sabres gathered on the ice and buried a coin (I think) in the ice before the season started.
  3. I don't think we're that far apart.
  4. No. It's a bad place to be. I am terrified that wins at this time of year only paradoxically extend our misery.
  5. How bout the old get out of your hockey stance and stare at the rafters for a few seconds after missing a glorious chance as play continues?
  6. Def. Crossroads. If I had to guess 06-07. Anywho I still say Lorenzo has to come back and release a rehabbed bat over at the rink where the Aud stood. The curse began the moment he slayed that rascal.
  7. It would be kind of funny. No way the TP run Sabres do anything that kooky. Paul Wieland would like it tho. Anybody remember when the Sabres put a lucky coin under the ice to start a season? I couldn't get within a 10 year time span of when it happened. Brain shrinkage is real.
  8. It begins... My first move will be to incapacitate nfreeman. I'm the alpha now.
  9. To put some meat on the bone... For the Sabres to finish with 90 points and out of the playoffs but within shouting distance, they have to end the season on a 116 point season pace. Laughable. But what if they did so? Should it mean anything?
  10. My cynical side says any significant offseason change will depend on how the fans are feeling. The customers. Right now if the season ended today (God's ears) DG would be gone. But we know fans are fans and can easily be fooled. A really strong finish that gets the Sabres within shouting distance of the playoffs? I think DG stays. When do the season ticket renewals go out?
  11. My bad for the vague snark. I think your source for the idea that Terry is going to start spending again is Brawndo. No offense to him, but is there anything more solid as a source?
  12. I don't think the rhetoric influenced anything. The pay day did. These guys had been here long enough to know the score. The arena is dead on a good night. Boos are common. It's not new. Who was it who complained, maybe after becoming an ex Sabre, about getting booed ONTO the ice? And there's Eichel's spot on commentary about it taking his return to get fans into a game for once? Mostly I think these guys had to know the situation was only going to get worse if they didn't start winning. So as the old saying goes... Money talks and BS walks. I shake my head at the notion that players are reading this board and becoming discouraged. Do they also read "Sabres Twitter"? To not do so is Professional Athlete 101. But even if they do... It affects their play? Really?
  13. Don't you think last season's finish influenced his offseason?
  14. What repercussions? And what players are you crediting for nobly signing extensions bc they believed the city and fans were wonderful? Power? Is there any scenario where doesn't sign that contract?
  15. I don't even know where to start with that post. Maybe with the idea that fans should ignore context when evaluating each season. An argument could be made that the drought should be put to the side in fairness to the players who aren't responsible for all of it. The fans' displeasure this season has a lot more to do with performance vs. last year IMHO. When the team started .500 over the first 20 games then had a terrible 10 game segment in late November and early December and THEN got routed by the woeful BJs at home, all bets were off with the fans. They chanted for Don's head once. He has gotten off easy. I can't even believe we're having this discussion.
  16. Did he say anything about the players not stick saluting?
  17. And then one day... It's like a miracle... It will disappear.
  18. Credit to @johnwawrow for asking one tough question. Granato said the team wasn't dealing with pressure well. John asked wasn't that what last year was for? To learn that skill? "It's a process!" Don started to get a little snippy. Not used to being questioned. Hoppe had his hard hitter... Comment on how Krebs' line was the best line on the ice in the first. Lyskowski... Is Tage trending up? Mike's been tamed but did come up a direct question about Skinner. John also had the temerity to say it's about wins after Granato claimed the Sabres have made many strides in areas that needed improvement. The coach said, "Obviously" it's about the wins. It's not obvious to a lot of us that winning is what Sabres hockey is about.
  19. Brian cackles and now off on a silly tangent. Tone. Deaf.
  20. Brian is off to a slow start on the postgame. Appropriately somber. Make no mistake the cackles will come.
  21. I didn't hear it. But I have a cheapo TV. Stop. They did not dominate.
  22. Fair or unfair to ask Dahlin to score there?
