  1. Pissin' in the wind Bettin' on our losin' friends Makin' the same mistakes we swear we'll never make again Pissin' in the wind
  2. In the 1/4 second I had to realize who had the puck I knew the move that TNT was to put on Swayman. It's easy to say that the GT should expect that move but there really is no defense for that with TNT's reach.
  3. I was referring to someone of McCabe's skillset and grit.
  4. Okposo hasn't been standing out this year. Maybe this game will get him going. ,
  5. Granato taking development seriously. Torts would have sent Krebs down or given him 3 minutes a game.
  6. I don't think we can expect TNT to keep up his scoring pace throughout the year but he doesn't need to in order to be worth way more than his contract. Most people probably thought that contract was a gamble when it was announced. It's the kind of move a great GM makes based on real belief in a player and confidence with his standing with the organization. Great contract with Samuelson of course but that deal was less of a gamble.
  7. Easy, he recovered. It's not like he let that happen in the Blue Oyster Bar.
  8. Granato had this club ready to play after a long layoff. Maybe he's more than just a development coach, eh?
  9. Missed the first half of that period but expected to see the Wings with the first period advantage considering the long layoff. Sabres looked good with UPL continuing sharp play and Clague looking like he might stick.
  10. So, the team that prior to Christmas was the highest scoring team in the NHL was mostly getting backup goalies? That's a head scratching approach that one would think was being done either out of ignorance or they were simply throwing in the towel knowing that they were going to lose. BN article had Tuch at 73 points over his first 82 games with the Sabres. Sneaky production, eh?
  11. Not to beat a dead horse but the Sabres don't need anything more on defense than a couple of veteran stay at home guys that won't break the bank but not those that will come in for the minimum. If Jake McCabe can still play at the level he was playing when he left then he's the kind of guy I'm talking about. I don't recall any major animosity when he left that would preclude his return.
  12. It seems to me that the Sabres are in a really good position as far as it goes to fill out and upgrade their defensive corps and can do it without spending an inordinate amount of money. D-men with great offensive skills and the ability to run the power play are the costliest and most difficult to obtain. We have two of them that are homegrown with the potential to be Norris candidates. Dahlin is due for a big contract soon while Power is pretty much cost controlled for several years unless the team and he chooses to sign early to a moderately priced contract. Joki has the potential to be a solid top 4 while Samuelson is signed long term and is an ideal partner for Dahlin and/or Power. Boosh is thought to be the type of defenseman that we need but hasn't been on the ice enough to prove that. Anyway, what the Sabres need to round out their defense are not bigtime offensive playmakers but solid, experienced defensemen who are best in their own end. These are the kind of players that mostly come available in free agency or sometimes at the trade deadline and don't cost a fortune. The Sabres do not need to pick up high priced D-men that cost a lot in trade capital to build themselves a top notch back end. They can build that kind of a defense by being smart with their money and leaving a healthy amount available to pay their promising group of forwards and additions to the goaltending.
  13. This 8 day break will reenergize the kid line.
  14. As a general observation that many here might say "Duh" about, it seems to me that when I notice great passing or poor passing by the Sabres early in the game it sorta indicates what the outcome is likely going to be. Lately their passes have been quick and accurate.
  15. Sorry for your loss. If I've learned anything from the loss of a loved one is it doesn't get better like some people think. It gets easier.
