  1. I likey this start. Sabres moving their feet and beating the Caps to the puck.
  2. The Sabres are not a 1 line team. We haven't been behind that much in the last 10 games or so. No need to push the offense and sacrifice the defense.
  3. Puck luck or hot Ottawa GT was the difference. Dahlin is used to playing in the high 20's. #1 line played less than 20 minutes. Our GT gave up 2 goals.
  4. Not exactly the best place to get it up. Not exactly a lot of puck luck tonight.
  5. Dahlin did remind me a little of #11 when he drew that penalty.
  6. TNT seems to be trying too much on his own lately. It's as if he thinks that he can consistently stick handle the puck through 3 guys.
  7. That's why I said I thought that initially too but they showed no replays to confirm.
  8. Every time we play Ottawa I get fond memories of a clinching playoff game in overtime when Alfredsson was stuck playing defense against Pominville.
  9. The Sabres are blessed with two D-men like Dahlin and Power. Most teams don't have even one of their caliber.
  10. Check out Peterka's 4 minute double minor for high sticking. The Bruin tripped him causing his stick to raise up.
  11. Supporting teammates is part of being a true teammate. People playing sports most likely will go further with a confrontation on the ballfield/rink than they would in a public place like a tavern. After giving up playing baseball I played for decades on a few different softball teams in modified or fast pitch leagues. My pride kept me from joining any over 40 or senior leagues and I pitched against a lot of guys that were just off college baseball teams. In the playoffs one year I noticed that our first baseman who was about 45-50 years old kept receiving throws from the very inside of the bag, not leaving him much room to adjust for any throws that might be slightly off. I didn't concern myself with it as he was a really good player and it wasn't my place to ask him anything about it. After awhile I heard a commotion after he got an out on a ball to the infield. The first baseman was chasing this college kid down the right field line and yelling that he was going to beat the ***** out him. Both teams joined the "fun" and a lot of pushing and shoving only turned into a few bruises. After things settled down we discovered that the the whole thing started because many of the guys on this young team were giving our first baseman an elbow as they ran by. Anyway, the game was called but there wasn't a player that didn't join in and support his teammates.
  12. The makings of a good team includes winning in spite of bad calls against them.
  13. Watched the last half of the 3rd period over again on MSG replay. I specifically wanted to see the penalty kills after the Bruins took the lead. They skipped over that and went to the Cozens tying goal and then played the OT. Hell, two happy endings within a couple of hours for me is more than I expected on New Years Eve.
  14. I know that the losing culture was getting to ROR but I don't think Buffalo itself was the problem. In other words, it was the team not the City. Everything else you said I agree with. I also am of the opinion that ROR wasn't too pleased with Eichel being the Captain over him and possibly that he didn't think Eichel was true Captain material. The Bills dumped players that they didn't think either fit the team or weren't totally committed to their schemes and program before they made their turnaround. They had to dump some very expensive and high draft picks in Sammy Watson, Marcel Dareus and Ronald Darby.
  15. The trade stuff came about because of the TNT's line great start to the season and inspired play and maybe a little from Kreb's improvement since Granato moved him to play with the big boys. If you insist though, enough time has passed that we could switch over to the Eichel trade. 😁
  16. Yes and no. While nothing is guaranteed with TNT, he's locked up for an additional 7 years at what looks like a very team friendly contract. Krebs seems to be finding his game too. O'Reilly is a great player and left a big hole when he went to St. Louis. As much as anything I miss his face off abilities. He was one of those vital pieces that got the Blues to make a run from nowhere to get into the playoffs and win the Cup. A wonderful trade for them but the Sabres weren't going anywhere even with O'Reilly on board. As it turned out it looks like it could be a great trade for the Sabres too and a win all around.
  17. As of the other day Tuch had played 82 games for the Sabres since gaining his health. He had 73 points in that time. His 4 points today sorta gets him a little closer to a point a game guy. The trade with Vegas is looking better and better with Tuch's skills and with Krebs looking better and better. Kudos to Granato for recognizing what his players need to progress and develop. I wouldn't be in a hurry to give up on anyone on this team.
  18. BREAKING NEWS: Bill Belichick was seen at the last several Bruin's practices demonstrating the subtleties of the pick play used as a staple in the Cheatriots* offense. His session yesterday was the last one for the next 10 days. As he explained to the players, at that time it looks as if he will have plenty of free time to get into the nuances that fool the on ice officials. Bill, who was in the stands today had several happy outcries during the 2nd & 3rd periods and explained to the younger guy next to him who was sporting an old fashioned mullet that these hockey boys really take to his coaching.
