  1. Old lady running outside to her mailbox wearing a bathrobe and hair net... at 2PM.
  2. Hell, they may already know he's decided to move on. If that's the case, you don't go out an announce it so that you retain any trade value that might still exist.
  3. Hyundai sonata. Bought it, then the Sabres made the playoffs for the last time.
  4. Since it's not thursday I'll sarcastically use this thread. My car died on me mid-drive earlier today. The tow truck driver and the shop both said that it sounded like an alternator to them. I got the call a couple hours later... engine is shot. Apparently it was mysteriously down two quarts and it gave out. It was a good 2000 miles away from its next routine service and there isn't a drop of oil on my driveway, so I have no idea where that oil relocated to. I also don't know how that would kill the engine so suddenly. But anyway, I have to have it towed to my regular guy next week before I issue the death sentence. She's almost 13 years old, so it was going to be time soon anyway. Still, just like looking for a new job, it's much easier to car shop when you already have a car.
  5. They finally called me yesterday. It turns out that they've had the gate on site for a while now. So my thought about the guy just not caring was probably correct. The other day I was trying to find my invoice and I clicked on one of their online notices. I'm guessing that triggered something on their end and it's the only reason they called.
  6. I'd have to imagine that towards the end they actually lost money opening the doors for a game. That whole thing fell apart so fast, along with the league itself. But they were gone pretty much at the very second Golisano bought the team. Hamister and his embezzler partner lost the bid for the Sabres to Golisano and then he immediately moved the team to Columbus.
  7. I can't imagine the Destroyers leaving had much of an impact on anyone.
  8. I feel like they'd have a hard time consistently coming up with 16 neutral locations each season. I think there would be burnout over time at those locations from the fans as the novelty wears off. Let's face it, they'd be hitting the same cities over and over. They wouldn't be playing games in Des Moines.
  9. And that's definitely not a "wear and tear" injury. It's a fluke that can happen to any QB in the league.
  10. I'm going to wait it out, but I'm willing to bet that the guy who measured it never did a thing after that. It couldn't have been any more obvious how little he cared.
  11. I had a fence put in back in March. It was the typical deal where I paid half up front and they would take the rest upon completion. They initially put in some temporary gates until the proper ones could be delivered. They put the regular ones in maybe 2 weeks later, but it turned out that they weren't the right ones. Their head design guy came out maybe a week later to remeasure and make sure everything was ok. This guy didn't seem to be all that interested in the job, but told me he'd order the stuff and they'd let me know when it is in. The company said I could pay the balance if I wanted to, but were fine if I waited for the gates. So fast-forward 2 months and I haven't heard a single word from them since. I'm convinced that guy didn't actually order anything as it was clear he didn't care one bit. It was not so little things like the company telling me that guy was on the way to my house but then he never showed up until 3 days later. But anyway, I have completely functional gates, it's just a minor cosmetic issue. But meanwhile, no one has ever asked me for that remaining balance. Am I crazy to just sit back and wait until I hear from them? I have all the paperwork and communications from them showing that the job is not yet done.
  12. Seriously, some people should not be allowed to post.
  13. It probably helped that Scott was 8 feet tall.
  14. The scary part was that I had hit 500 that very day. I started doing the math in my head and I thought “awww crap”.
  15. Well it does make a bit more sense than putting the two most elite prospects of the last 40 years in Pittsburgh and Edmonton.
  16. But now I can't watch any more national broadcasts with Keith Jones.😪
  17. I grazed it so quickly, I didn't notice that it was limited to only those who were already dead. The total numbers always felt low to me, and now I know why. All of this just makes me wish even more that they would have skipped out on the whole matching part. They're very limited in any conclusions they can make by limiting to that population. They limit even further thanks to the matching. The whole thing is pilot work hoping to drum up further research, nothing more. It is kind of funny though seeing this rightfully scrutinized. I've seen this exact type of approach applauded in other places simply because it fits the narrative they want to see. I'm not throwing you under that bus (did they mention if any of the players were hit by a bus?), but I'm guessing you know exactly what I'm talking about.
  18. I can point you to several smokers who didn’t develop lung cancer or serious heart issues. I guess that means smoking’s not bad for you. This thing is not saying that the fighter will die at exactly 47.5 years old. Listing off a handful of names that lived well past that point, since that figure is an average, that means we’re going to be able to list a bunch who died well before it. That’s how averages work, there will be plenty above and below that mark. And I questioned the matching earlier, but that’s only an issue for their control, non-fighter group. The players they counted as fighters, every single one of them is included in that 47.5 figure. On its own, that’s a pretty startling number. You may want to question how they settled on that fighter definition (50+ fights) and that’s fair, but there are absolutely zero games being played in calculating that 47.5. It’s basic math at that point. With a little free time and google, you can verify it yourself.
  19. Did you see the words “on average”? Each of these guys should be included based on what I briefly read.
  20. I'm not crazy about their matching process. They reduced 5708 of the so called non-fighters down to the control group of 331. They've thrown away a lot of data that they didn't necessarily have to. Match 2 to 1, 3 to 1, ... Hell, at the very least I'd like to see the characteristics of everyone since they do have them. Can you tell that I'm not a fan of matching?
  21. I mean, the first two rounds were so much fun, why not add more!
  22. Did you hack me or something? MGM Shraderplace is still a work in progress and I wasn't ready to announce it yet.
  23. ... and then they can do it two more times for the next drawings. Ratings gold!
  24. And I'd just like to add to this that a QB brings in money. A WR brings in money. A punter does not bring in money. *I am not implying a single thing about the individuals who currently fill those positions.
  25. Drawing four balls and then going to a chart to see who hold that number combination? Yeah, that will be aired live on tv right after the paint drying championship.
