Parayko is among the leagues worst contracts.  The Blues would give him away.  Someone mentioned trading a 2nd round pick for him.  That might be an overpayment. 🤣

We’re now proposing the opposite of the old Roy for Mallon proposals. My how times have changed.

I'm becoming way too engrossed in this subject and want to know more now.

I dunno.. as I said I grew up using any street hockey stick available and was shooting both left and right handed.. eventually ended up shooting right handed overall. No one taught me anything.. it just felt normal.

But then again, I did play baseball and I hit right handed.. although once again I don't think anyone said I needed to hit that way, just that's what I did. At a young age I had a big plastic bat and I swung it right handed.

And an American kid is pretty likely to be playing baseball before starting hockey… or any other sport for that matter. So then you pick up a hockey stick and just have to move one hand slightly. The Canadian kid is probably starting out with hockey before anything. The Europeans? I really don’t know, but I’m thinking it’s a safe bet that there isn’t much baseball influence there.

Probably true - unless your post goads him into it. Always people who prefer to critique the posters rather than the team that is their true source of frustration. Always easy to give out some version of "you're an idiot" electronically.

The bottom line I'm getting at, if it wasn't obvious, is the team needs change and improvement. I'd be willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen for next year. If it's true that free agents won't come here it's even more urgent to make a trade happen with whatever it takes. Tkachuk's are leaders. Brady is a punk, but he's a talented punk and he'd change the culture with his level of compete.

The team has a lot of needs, but guys with high compete levels are the key above all else. It would be infectious.

Let’s review the source of this disagreement.

-Crusader said he wouldn’t trade Samuelsson, Savoie, and a first for Parayko.
-You say you would trade Samuelsson, Savoie, and a first for Tkachuk.

So maybe, just maybe, we’re arguing over a misread post?

I assure you, the great ones are certainly not a dime a dozen. That said, a great QB can certainly turn average into good and good into really good.

He’s a packers fan, right? They definitely had their run of receivers who were made much better by the QBs.

If I understand RFA compensation correctly, I think the answer to this will be 4.3 million to 4.5 million for 2 to 4 years. By offering 4.3 M any offer sheet over that would have to give us a 1st and a 3rd round pick in the draft. There are only 16 teams that are able to do that, (unless they trade for a pick). Half of those are lottery picks so they won't do it. A few others are set in goal so they don't need him. A few other teams are on the fence of being a lottery pick. There are a couple of teams that could try it. Philly and the Oilers would seem the most logical of the eligible teams but Swayman is also an RFA so if you are going to pull that lever would you not go after him?

Compensation isn’t tied into what Buffalo offers. The only thing required of them is a qualifying offer, which would be a one year deal with a 5% raise over his previous contract. That’s all it takes for him to be restricted. The compensation stuff you’re mentioning he nothing to do with what Buffalo offers.

I play hockey with left shot, but I swing a golf club right, a baseball bat right, and write with a pencil in right hand.

Hand me a broom, I sweep left.   I tried hockey on right but realized I shot better left.

How about a rake? That’s one where I feel like I’m taking a faceoff sometimes and I have to flip the bottom hand over.

Re the clip from Pro Football Talk: I respect Florio for carving out his place in the sports talking ecosystem. But the guy is so often just a troll and/or a tool. His broadcast partner there - Simms, I guess - has it exactly right: Florio's criticizing Allen for not being more assertive with Diggs, for just eating sh1t in his relationship with Diggs, but if Allen had engaged with, pushed back on, and thereby contributed to any Diggs drama, Florio would have been all over him for that as well. Allen handled Diggs about as well as anyone could have hoped for.

It’s kind of like Larry King or Elizabeth Taylor. How many times can they get devotees before you realize they were probably the issue.

I think we mathematically had a pretty good shot

How many of those 19 were in a row, you ask?

All of them. He’s never not been point a game

And still 1300 points behind Gretzky. It just goes to show you how absurd his numbers are.

    Nothing wrong with that.

Trading a guy who in his mid 20's is coming into his own, leading your team in points, that seems to be liked well by management and his teammates.  VS  Trading a 30+ year old WR that didn't much much of a difference at all the last 10 games he played, who appears to be getting to the point in his career his skill is sliding and was/is due big contract dollars the next 3-4 years.

    Now compare the returns. 😁

At the end of the day the loser point is actually for playing a team to a tie in the only format that matters/is actually reflective. The points are well-earned because they are reflective of us being worse in regulation

It really is very simple: keep games out of column two. That will take you somewhere.

Wait is RIT older than the Sabres?  "oldest team in tournament, average age over 23".

A: no - Sabres avg is 25.6 years old or thereabouts.

They’ll have mail waiting for them at home from AARP.

It’s a total fluke. Look at all that space under the bridge. The vast majority of the time, any out of control vessel would miss the support and go right under*.

*I haven’t look closely enough, but on my tiny phone screen it looked like the bridge was taller than the boat.

  13. I just stopped at a place for a sandwich and was immediately greeted on their radio by Megadeth followed up by Iron Maiden. How’s that for a very unexpected surprise?

    edit: And now Dio.

The boat communicated that it lost control. So there was some time to stop cars from getting on the bridge before the crash.

SDS said that earlier. I’m asking how they actually stopped the cars in such a tight time window. You’re definitely not getting cops out there to block it off, so thank god they had whatever they did have there.

There was less than 100 seconds warning time. There was no way to get a vehicle to the middle and back, nor was there time to walk/run/sprint.

Do they have gates? How were they able to stop traffic in such limited time?
