  1. Based on where they're at now, unless March & April were complete mirages, this team should be able to top 90 points for the 1st time in over a decade w/ any sort of reasonable health at all. Which isn't good enough, but is close enough that with a break or 2 they'll be in the mix & could sneak in.
  2. The other problem is, unlike in the NFL where cap unspent 1 year can carry over to the next, in the NHL any cap space a team has evaporates the day the playoffs start. (Well, technically on whatever day bonuses earned are calculated, but for the most part it's all in the ether the day the Loafs prepare to face the team that'll send them to the golf course yet again. There's a bunch of kids that'll be due raises right about the time you'd like to see that $10MM or so UFA brought in. So, it'll be tricky fitting that guy in. And if they haven't earned raises that big ticket guy won't want to be here anyway.
  3. Wouldn't be surprised if they do. But 1st, he's going to see if anybody will give him a legit shot at top 6. If he signs in Buffalo would expect it more likely in an August time frame after the agent has beaten all the bushes.
  4. Would agree. He wouldn't be traveling if there was concern her condition was likely to worsen. 🍺
  5. Is the answer because Dubas is throwing anything at a wall to see what'll stick w/ 3/4's of his cap tied up in F's and wasn't fully cognizant that teams ice 6 players regularly & not just 3? (Yeah, yeah, it only SEEMS like 3/4's of the cap.)
  6. He will. It might be Pysyk, but he'll have an 8th NHL defenseman. (Would guess if not Pysyk, Pilut.)
  7. So, Washington can obtain Colorado's goalies. Thought that was a 1 way street.
  8. Which is why he's on an AHL contract. They need to dress 6 D each night. Hopefully he's either improved or falls a pairing by the time October arrives.
  9. Preview to 2 years from now. 😉 Fully expect Johnson & Power as a pair. Surprised Peterka won't be w/ Quinn & Krebs.
  10. Interesting. Somebody expects the cap to rise in 2 years.
  11. Bump. Still sticking w/ the guess from page 1. Well, minus the goalies. 😉
  12. Simply that keeping him at that point is now not a decision for Adams & his bosses to make alone but rather one Olofsson will have a monstrous say in and also that if they DO want to keep him beyond that that it'll cost significantly more when $'s are much tighter to keep him beyond that than it would've been to lock him up for a few $'s more when 1/3-1/2 (depending on length of the deal between 4-6 year) of the total money would be paid in years the Sabres are no where close to the cap. (Paying extra now to pay less later is another way of "weaponizing" cap space.) And if Olofsson would have insisted on a full NMC to sign for 2-4 extra years, well, then nevermind. But don't expect that to be the case.
  13. Better question, will he be a more stabilizing partner for Power than Jokiharju was or Pysyk would've been? Really want him paired with a guy that can let him try the things that will quicken his development w/out getting bit in the arse for it every time. And if Jokiharju can improve in those aspects of his game, then let the competition for 4D be on.
  14. Not sure h-e-double hockey sticks froze over today, but you can hope. 😉
  15. Well, he's no Murray ... 😉 Actually, like this given everything else that's happened in the last week. Would still like 1 more NHL quality keeper as not sure Anderson is still up to 35 or so games & have no faith in either of the Amerks to be useful should Comrie falter. But we all know that ain't happeniyeah. So, yea.
  16. True that the injury made it hard to zero in on a value for him. But this contract really doesn't do the Sabres any favors. Can't see them wanting to move him at this trade deadline and they'd better not be looking to unload anybody at the next trade deadline. Or else Mr. Adams will have "some splainin' to do" and very likely will be at the end of his leash. If the kids really are at the point that Olofsson is expendable, the time to be looking to trade him is 2 or 3 off-seasons from now. The Sabres don't have his rights at that point, so he walks for nothing except maybe a token from somebody for exclusive negotiating rights with him. And, as @Thorny points out, if he's ahead of the kids then, it'll cost them way more to keep him than it would've now.
  17. You aren't high on Olofsson, which is perfectly fine. What do you expect he'll bring back in return should the Sabres offer him this year? A 2nd? Other? They already have 3 2nd rounders in '23 and have added ~21 young players to the pipeline (not including Krebs & Levi) in the last 2 years (at least 8 of which have to be legit to be in the NHL prospects. Does a 4th 2nd rounder appreciably bring any value in February/March? (Apologies if the myriad questions seem to be attacking; that is not the intent.)
  18. Who? Any relation to the Rubik's Cube?
  19. Yes, that was already pointed out. 🍺
  20. Only problem w/ that is, THIS had better be the LAST year in a long while we are even considering the possibility of dumping guys at the deadline. They are in all likelihood going to need him at next year's playoff push so he won't be deadline expendable then. And IMHO he won't be expendable this deadline either. So, they didn't really buy much, again IMHO, w/ the 1 year of his UFA years.
  21. Bummer. Would've fit in well as a 4th liner.
  22. Day-um. No way were the Sabres offering that for a player w/ 1 year left.
