Which is fine. But it doesn't make your earlier statements about the Sabres throughout their history being one of the worst franchises nor their having the fewest playoff appearances accurate.

In the modern NHL, now that only 50% of teams make the playoffs rather than the historical 66.7% or the 80's 76%+ making the playoffs, the Sabres historical run of ineptitude will be broken. Quite likely in less than a dozen years - looking at you Arizona. And, actually, because the Sabres were a model of regular season success for ~40 years they don't have one of the worst records w/ the least playoff appearances. They're middle of the **** pack now, which should never have happened.

Actually, it wouldn't add cap space for another team, it might even in actuality reduce their capspace. He currently doesn't count against any other team's cap. Adding his salary & then having it immediately go onto BF-LTIR (and going over the cap were he not on BF-LTIR, would set a new effective cap the team couldn't exceed which could very likely be lower than the actual cap. It is very unlikely a team like AZ will make a move requiring them bump up the overall salary, but it is possible. A team on the same boat the Sabres feared being in is the only potential buyer for Bishop's contract/cap hit.

NHLPA isn't going to say boo because this really won't effect the total salary in the NHL. He makes $1.7MM. Roughly $1MM would still count against the cap if he clears & UPL only makes ~$750k. Besides the PA seems to care more about the handful of stars rather than the hundreds of journeymen. Good for Adams finally biting this bullet. Hope he clears, but doubt he does.

His 1st game back was Seattle. That was also when Peterka & Quinn were benched and the 3 headed goalie monster was born. Expect that has more to do w/ the issues than Jokiharju being back. And the really bad game was the night before vs Filly.

Have been desperately hoping fir at least the last 3 games to see Dahlin, Cozens, & the rest on the PP fake the pass to Thompson & follow through w/ a shot that Tuch knows is coming so he can crash for a rebound if the 1st shot doesn't go. As bad as other parts of the game are at present, if the PP even nets 1 per game they've got at least 3 more points in the standings & likely more like 5 from this last rough patch.

But, had San Diego built Spanos a new palace to play in, wasn't the plan to stay there?

Check out the Seals/Barons. You may want to revise that statement. Their high watermark was 69 points in 76 games in their 2nd season. They only lasted 11 years, but in the year they merged w/ the No Stars they still couldn't top that 69. 4 seasons under 50 points w/ the low point being 36. Yes, they made the playoffs twice, but only because 4 of the 6 expansion Western Conference teams got into the playoffs. If only 1/2 the league made the playoffs (like now & when the Aisles entered the league) using the late 70's playoff seedings (top 12 of 18 regardless of conference) their best squad would've missed the playoffs by 8 points. And not quite the same, but definitely similar, the Wings had 15 losing seasons out of 17 & only made the playoffs twice in that span. They had 4 more years of losing records after that, but due to lucking into the Norris actually got into the playoffs 3 of those years.

Back before COVID hit, they were looking into arena upgrades. Could be they expect his background in finance would help them move that forward?

It IS unexpected to have almost 0 F injuries this year (Girgensons is usually good for missing at least 10 games if not 30-40 all by himself) but not completely implausible. Young guys are far more resilient than guys in their 30's and this team is crazy young once Anderson is discounted & the team significantly changed their practices to focus on minimizing injuries & also the duration of them. Really do hope they move on from Hinostroza sooner than later.

Next year is almost definitely the last year before the cap jumps another $4-5MM. Dahlin's deal won't kick in until the cap has jumped. Would really like to see him at $10MM per for 8 years, but expecting $12MM per is far more likely.

Bummer. Realize the team needs the W, but the upside of Comrie getting his head on straight seems significantly bigger than the downside of possibility losing the 2 points if Comrie doesn't come around. Expecting the win if anybody better than PTR is between the pipes. 😉

Not liking that as it's going to drive Cozens deal even further above Thompson's. Would really like to see Cozens inked soon. (Like yesterday, soon.)

Anybody know anything more about this guy? Realize Ted Black was a bit of a goofball but hoping he's more like him than a Doug Moss (or Russ Brandon). Sabres don't have a particularly stellar track record w/ hired COO's/ Team Presidents, do they.

On 1st glance thought the ranking description was at the bottom of each write up like you'd interpreted it; but the huge listing of players at the end were clearly under 1 heading. Went back and saw the heading above Dahlin's write up. Problem w/ pulling text from articles; sometimes without the formatting they can get interpreted strangely.

When Power is out w/ Clague he spends the bulk of the time on the right side. Pretty sure Granato has no issues w/ sliding him over to that side. Right now he stays primarily on the left side because Granato continues to pair him up w/ Jokiharju. If Johnson signs and they decide he'd be a better 2nd pairing guy than Henri, fully expect they won't let handedness interfere w/ the plan. (But Granato LOVES him some Joker, so not expecting that pairing to go away any time soon.)
