  1. "Kane got off to a great start this year, but has slumped and even with goals in Buffalo’s last two games, has just five points (4 G, 1 A) in the past 21 games." might also have something to do with it. Unfortunately, Kane bottomed out when we needed him to peak.
  2. Stupid anecdote from my personal life: I totaled my car in December that had 168k on it. I would have never sold that car for under 10k. Geico offered $5400 and told me I could ask for more if I could justify it. Seems as though not a single sale or online valuation tool backed up my personal value on it. I settled for $5400 because that was the offer I had and it was time to move on.
  3. So, how do you make a team offer more other than by saying "no"? Eventually he has to say yes to someone.
  4. Is that the right question to ask? The most we can ask for is to maximize the return on an asset and that is determined by what others are willing to part with. We may have gotten the worst of this trade. But if this value is so low, if this is essentially the Sabres giving him away - why didn't anyone else offer more? It wouldn't have taken much to beat this deal to say the least.
  5. What do you think the reaction would have been if they didn't trade him today at all? There's a possibility his value could have been higher this summer by trading his negotiating rights, but there is also the possibility he would have gone for nothing. As we saw today - his value on 2/26/2018 was  .
  6. Actually, that wasn't my point. My point was the buyer and the seller determine the true worth of an asset, not a bystander. I'm disappointed in the return. I will never insist he was worth substantially more because the actual buyers and the sellers proved that wasn't the case.
  7. I must have missed the proclamation that the team will abide by the opinions posted here. You got me.
  8. That is in response to fans saying he is worth more. 31 GMs disagreed. That point is neither wrong, nor does it say to stop talking about it.
  9. What do you think happened then? Kane has been on the block for months. Do you think Botterill refused better offers? Do you think he didn't take that offer to other interested parties to beat?
  10. $100 to your favorite charity if you can point out where I said "not to talk about it" in that sentence.
  11. A player is only worth what someone is willing to pay for them (or accept in contract). Fans can bemoan all day long that Kane is worth more, but 29 other GMs had their opportunity to pay more and decided to pass. Those are the only opinions that ultimately count.
  12. FWIW, Robert Plant never understood the fascination with Stairway. He always thought Kashmir reflected what others saw in Stairway and would have been his choice for a Zep "anthem".
  13. That version kills the studio version.
  14. 20) Bruce Springsteen - Thunder road (live) I think the piano version on 75-85 live is the play here. It highlights his live performance, his ability to play a song differently in a live setting, his song writing, etc... I think this is represents him well. 27) U2 - Bad I think this is represents them well. 28) Rush - Tom Sawyer There were two eras of classic Rush - pre and post synthesizers. My fav pre is Temples of Syrinx (captures their mythic side). Post is Subdivisions. Tom Sawyer is never a bad choice. 30) AC/DC - Highway to Hell? Bon Scott or Brian Johnson? Two eras. Bon Scott: The Jack (although HtH is fine). Brian Johnson: Back in Black 33) Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill Slam dunk. One of the greatest songs about the pursuit of one's dreams you will find. 47) Styx - Sail Away or Fooling' Yourself Flip a coin 49) Nirvana - Come as you are Although if it were my list it would be a toss up between All Apologies and their Bowie cover of Man Who Sold the World 52) Goo Goo Dolls - Name It is the song that launched the band 68) Journey: Lovin' Touchin' Feelin' Pre or post Escape? Pre is the only way to go. 81) Metallica: Wherever I may roam I think this is represents them well. 82) Black Sabbath: War Pigs Assuming Ozzy on vocals (whom you should have separately as well). Paranoid and Iron Man were bigger. War Pigs was better. 86) Creed: My Own Prison/What's this Life For They catch some flack, but Stapp wrote a few good songs before he went insane. Flip a coin. Triumph: Fight the Good Fight Gerry Rafferty: Baker's Street No Doubt: Don't Speak Foo Fighters: All My Life America: Sister Golden Hair Cheap Trick: I want you to want me (live)/Surrender Flip a coin Judas Priest: Heading out to the highway Iron Maiden: Run to the hills Stone Temple Pilots: Creep Sammy Hagar: Heavy Metal Whitesnake: Slide it in Pearl Jam: Jeremy (read the backstory about this and you will agree)
  15. Blondie - Call Me No question.
  16. So, being an extreme Zep fan since middle school I recognize the band has many hits and deep cuts. The one song I can put on repeat and play 5x in a row is Battle of Evermore. It isn't their biggest hit be a country mile, but the song has everything you would want to remember the band for.
  17. That was a tough shift to watch.
  18. So in the year 2017 you think garbage collectors can make it to the Hall of Fame?
  19. Might as well pull the keeper on all PP. Take the two man advantage and eliminate the disadvantage in net.
  20. An awful pass by Eichel, but Lehner didn’t do anyone any favors either.
  21. It's something with this older version of the board. Somewhere along the way the character encoding on the "quick moderation actions" got hosed. Happened at TBD too.
  22. Jesus. Thank god I passed on going to this one.
  23. What can I say? I can't prevent people from acting like 13-year-old girls if that's what they want to do. I would like to think that is not the case here. I am not overly concerned with someone else's preconceived notions of what "likes" represent. In the context here, which is all that matters, there are three primary "reactions" that I find useful. Like, thanks, and haha. Having the ability to easily convey those thoughts to the poster help eliminate +1 types posts that have no useful information and waste people's time. If unobtrusively saying thank you to someone who answers a question for you is somehow repulsive then I don't know what to say. On TBD I allow those three reactions to accumulate points in the reputation system. I think that over time this will allow people to recognize good contributors to the community. I am not sure I would turn on that function here because I'm not sure the community is large enough at this moment in time to really make good use of such a system. Regardless, it will be fine. It's not a big deal. Fwiw, currently, the ads only show to administrators and guests. If people are posting a lot of content and other posters are truly recognizing that good content I think I would call that a win.
  24. This has been more typical of the reaction from mobile users:
