Sabres recall Noah Östlund and return Trevor Kuntar to Rochester
pastajoe replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It’s ridiculous to have these guys fly all the way to the west coast just for one game. They could have given Kuntar another game then make the move when they get home. -
I’m not even holding out hope for an outright firing. My top hope right now is: ”relieved of GM duties, reassigned to another spot in the organization (ie the old future considerations)”. Failing that it’s: ”relieved of GM duties, reassigned to an advisor/senior advisor role within the organization.” After that is: ”Adams promoted to POHO, so and so takes over as GM.” …which, yes, I’ll still accept as a win because it’s a made up title and aside from the owner things clearly run through the GM, here.

I don’t consider Hughes a Dman even though he won a Norris. It’s the Art Ross trophy for Dmen. I don’t think we’ll ever see a Rod Langway type win it again but I prefer an all round Dman to a rover. An example is Doughty in his prime. He would lead the offense, hit, block shots and take on the opponents’ toughest matchups. Hughes puts up excellent offensive numbers and is a PP QB you dream of. He looks like Bryson, in his own end without the puck.

There is no JR. Jarmo last name is Kekalainen, not Routsaleinen. I don’t know who Ruff reports to. No one does apparently. It almost like Adams announced a coach search for an experienced NHL coach and Ruff just showed up so they hired him. Makes a great sit com skit. Adams interviewed him and it went kind of like the Costanza job interview … “ Lindy, I want you to have this job, of course… oh wait, I’ve got to take this call now, good seeing you Lindy. … “. So Lindy just shows up and both Terry and Kevyn think the other person hired him. Lindy takes the small office, he gets the Cozens file, and he is off and running.

Sabres recall Noah Östlund and return Trevor Kuntar to Rochester

Do you know what Norris and Tuch's status are for the next game? -
We'll see. If something like that happens it is more likely to happen in the offseason. And from a Hill perspective, he's currently with a Cup contending team. Why would he want to go to an acknowledged ghetto franchise at this time than be where he is right now?
-
Any non-sober person who followed the Sabres recognized early on that Terry P was a virus that was infecting this plagued franchise. It didn't take much talent to come to that obvious conclusion early on. It's like saying that crap stinks. You may not be aware of it but most of us were aware of it as soon as he started acting like a drunken fool once he took over.
-
You never know what shakes loose. Hart shining in Vegas could push Hill to want out. There could be a few scenarios like that.
-
It would be a big mistake. With a Dahlin trade you are essentially signaling that you will be going through another rebuild. That will likely mean that Tuch and Tage will also make it clear that they will also want out. And it wouldn't be a surprise if Tuch is in that category already.
-
I know, right? I was on shrooms when I imagined one day in February 2011 that Terry was a numbskull. The rest of you didn't stop licking his boots for 10 years. Just a wrinkle. Just for fun. The timing of all this will be interesting if the Sabres keep winning. Not likely, but it's sports, and strange things happen. Terry doesn't seem like someone who would fire a guy right before xmas.

It’s Minnesota, don’t care if they ever do anything.

We have an experienced goalie in Lyon. He's certainly not an elite goalie but is as good as any goalie that could be acquired on the market right now. There's no question that an elite goalie is a difference maker. That caliber of goalie is usually kept by most well-run franchises. The problem for the hometown club is the roster and the way it is constructed. The GM needed to add another top six forward to the roster. He didn't. The Sabres have three goalies on the roster and Levi in Rochester. In my view, one of them has to go. I'm not fretting over which one is dispatched.
-
That's how I see it. UPL is just so unpredictable. But so are so many other goalies, look at Skinner, a really good goalie a lot of the time, other times, not so much. Lyon seems like a slightly above average goaltender. Sabres biggest problem is they give up too many goals 5v5. Is that the goaltending? Partly, and they need better play from that position. I'd go with Ellis more and hope he grows into the job, but I guess the brass thinks UPL can be that guy again. Hope they are correct

Colorado, Dallas and Minnesota will beat upeach other in the first two rounds for at least the next two years.
