  1. Past hour
  2. Forget the Sabres future, this Byram trade needs to be knocked out of the park if for nothing else but Thorny’s well being I don’t post or contribute much but I have been scrolling the board since about 2018ish, and this reaction might be the strongest one I’ve ever seen here lol
  3. Wouldn’t be a bad move given the corner we’ve boxed ourselves into. Forwards will be unsalvageable if we can’t deal Byram for a legit top 6 dude so might as well double down on D and try to defend our way to the playoffs. Issue for me there is goaltending - could be a huge handcuff when we can’t outscore our issues
  4. I’m not sure why you get so out of shape when someone disagrees with you? I actually am very frustrated by the Sabres and all of their failures the last 14 years… Is there a rule against presenting intelligently thought out arguments on this message Board? If I recall, you actually insulted me and said that I should post more than 20 times before putting a stronger opinion out there… So I guess do you want me to post more or do you just want to throw out insults to other posters or disagree with you? people who happen to like a trade or entitled to their opinions, whether they’re in line with yours or not… It doesn’t mean that we work for the team, which just means that maybe we have a different opinion.
  5. If it’s gets to 7/1, a short term (1-2 years) extension become more and more likely
  6. He can have all the 2PP minutes he wants as far as I'm concerned.
  7. I would hope that we have a lot of viewings of that team regardless of who we previously drafted. They’re practically in our backyard.
  8. You are literally a sabres employee dude Like I don’t just throw these things out there - I’m not trying to insult you/throw that out as shade i am aware. No interest
  9. Its clear that kesselring is going to be a top 4 D on this team - and a lot of smart analytics folks think that he is going to be very good in that role and already has been good in that role. I’m not sure how that qualifies as a depth piece? We’ve been missing a partner for power for like three years and it’s the number one need on the team. doan will be better than you think and is a very young good third liner… I guess you could argue that more in the depth range but when I think of depth, I think of a fourth liner or an extra and not a person who is going to play 15 to 20 minutes a game and likely a 20/20 hard to play against winger what’s the last top 4 rhd traded that people argued was a “ depth player” - these are primo depth pieces
  10. Bingo!! Bridge him or sign longer term (who wouldn't want to play with Dahlin), heck, even give him some 2nd line PP minutes (it's not like our PP was stellar last year). As for you LWer sign Ehlers or ,,,,,,gasp Marchant
  11. Kevin (smartie pants) of sabres twitter mentioned something I didn’t think of: Byram’s market shrinking over night likely the result of teams seeing the perceived low-ball offers we took in our last 2 trades - teams can see we sell for objectively less value than worth because of $ prioritization Thankfully we know better. And thankful we don’t need a good return for Byram. Can just keep him, pay him, and I’m sure Kulich and Norris and co can hold down what I’m given to understand is an elite offence
  12. This is where I'm at after the Kesselring move. There wasn't a plan when he was acquired, but now, Byram has a valid spot on the roster. "Hey, here's a bridge that takes you to UFA. No, you might not get a bunch of PP time -- sorry. But guess what, you get to play on the top pairing with Rasmus ######' Dahlin and get all the O-zone starts you can stomach and matching against the opposition's best for 23:00 per night. When you get to UFA, you can ask for $10M+. In the meantime, help us end this drought."
  13. Adams is going to be the GM for the foreseeable, for me likely liveable future I mean he’s earned it
  14. Well you may be correct, I would say if he takes positive steps this year ( and that would mean a playoff appearance I would bet he is back... if we stagnate or get worse... who knows he still could be back... I dont get Pegula... but I would say that would be a tough one for him to swallow... but honestly, I dont know if he is on the hot seat... cause I dont know what is in Pegula's brain... I just dont..
  15. Absolutely it is.
  16. I imagine TP’s daughter is getting an earful of “you need a better face to the franchise” at the governors meeting. This could justify kicking KA up to a behind the scenes role (POHO?) and promoting Jarmo to GM and new face to the public. A strong off season could facilitate that.
  17. Sorry, .88 at 23. Was only using “point a game” because it was often the term of choice leading into the deal. 70+ points. Call it the “Josh Norris” points per game pace And he’s actually not very good. Didn’t I say it already? Masterclass You should post about these things before! Not just after the fact depending on the result. People may learn from you
  18. And I don't think he'll be playing with a better talent in Utah than Tage?? Combine that with historically high 14% shooting percentage and.......
  19. This is why i don’t really agree with the Adams hot seat stuff. He’s probably been allotted a mere half the amount of time he needs to right this
  20. Great, except Peterka has never been a point per game winger. Not over his career (0.63), not over last season (0.88), not the season before (0.61). The closest he got in one season was last year's 0.88, but if he plays 82 games over an 82 game season that still causes him to come up 10 short. Now, will he BECOME a point per game winger on Utah? Maybe, Maybe not. But on the Sabres, he isn't, and never has been one....even last year with the most Powerplay ice time on the team among forwards and lots of time on the first line, 18+ minutes per game.
  21. Then our views totally coincide... because a blockbuster with a major player is probably a heavy lift... we need more than one player.. and more than one player is needed to turn this ship... consistent positive steps forward to improvement is the only way to establish credibility... you cannot fake time... nor consistency... getting Ekblad or Mariner doesnt magically rescue all that is wrong... So, I mean if a deal is there big time to help do it... but your problems are not solved with one pen stroke... it took a long time to get into this mess its gonna take effort to get out.
  22. It would certainly be, that’s a great catch. But here’s what you’ve missed: last I checked the sabres have improved year over year under Adams tenure you can correct me on that if I am mistaken
  23. Peterka wanted out. Given that fact pretty much any return is a +, not sure how we can construe it any other way. In that sense the return is found money. when you are trying to recover from the chasm a guy like Botterill left us in, it takes time. Can’t remember who the poster was but someone mentioned when you look at teams like Florida etc it can sometimes take even as long as 10 years or so to rebuild that and get yourself out of that hole. Some players like Peterka who don’t have the maturity to wait are going to be to the casualty
  24. Time will tell. A day gave time to research the two new guys and realize that the "off the ice" Peterka maybe wasn't as good as the "on the ice" Peterka. Tage certainly gave the thumbs up to the guys to Adams - Character sometimes trumps talent.
  25. Ah so Peterka was likely to hold out That’s what I’ve heard too Nah
