On Nov 2nd last season they were 4-7-1. They would proceed to win 7 of the next 9 games to climb to 3rd place in the Atlantic with a record of 11-9-1. If history is a guide, good times are ahead 🙂

My take is that for the first time in a long time we are fielding what looks like a professional NHL hockey team. Albeit a team that is lacking talent. I know Ruff is a whipping boy, but he is a real life, acredited NHL coach. He gets a lot of credit for managing this team the last year and getting it to where it is right now. Does that mean he is amazing? Or the best hire? No, not at all. But he may have been the only realistic/possible hire that could manage PegAdams and field what looks to be a professional hockey team. I have no faith in Appert next year and I think we go back to whatever the fork the last 13 years were. Hoping we keep Jarmo and Ruff in house in some way going forward so there are at least hockey professionals in the room with Pegula, Adams, and Forton.

In order to be something other than what they've been, in order to be different, this Sabres team needs to start stacking some wins. Two of three, here. Two of three, there. This game is one they need to have, one they must have. Let's Go, Buffalo!

My quick $0.02 is that the thinking is that we desperately need to close out a win in regulation so they are playing their best goaltender while they are short handed with their forward group. Not saying I agree or disagreem, but that is likely the thinking.

True. But he came to mind because he showed up at 25, never played in the NHL, and leads his team to a Cup. Binnington is even more volatile than UPL, with higher highs and lower lows. Wins a Stanley Cup as a rookie, selected to NHL All Star first team, wins a Gold in 4 Nations tournament. Currently he has a 3.34 GAA and a 0.859 SV%. He is not looking like an Olympic team goalie for Canada.

Well, Finland is roughly 925 miles from the Czech Republic. Seems about the gap between UPL and Hasek talent wise

Based on historical data.... we can expect UPL to fall somewhere between Tiim Thomas and Dominik Hasek 👍

Peak Hasek didn't appear until a playoff game in his age 28 season. (Not that he wasn't good earlier, but at that point he went ascended saiyan goalie.)

Maybe its because everyone on the internet hates power for some reason. Levi has no leverage and probably has a better path to the NHL here than anywhere else, and wouldn't be moved unless they were given a real offer. I'm not saying fans have a major effect on things, but when fans outright say that these guys suck on social media regarding guys like Power and Coleman for the Bills, it doesn't really make you want to play for the team. I think its fair to be critical and talk about players, but when you just trash your team why are you shocked when people don't want to play here. Do we root for the team, or root for this need to be "right" about a pick you didn't like?

The increasing trend of society to focus on the 1% of negativity versus the 99% of neutral to positive. Every GD meeting at work is this way. It happens here too. Hell it happens everywhere. Yeah, sorry I missed an edit to go back and update Quinn to 3 times. You use the word funny, but not sure why. Even if I didn't single out the others Quinn is the only player who has been on the ice for 3 of the goals. So yes, I focused on the player with the 75% failure rate versus 50%. Did you know who was on the ice and how many times before I posted that? If so, great, then you knew Quinn was on the ice 3 times and that I got it right in my details but missed in the summary. If not, then maybe not complain about a mistake that was made. I could go on about the others. I blamed Tuch in one of the games because he left the slot guy open, which then opened the center of the ice. Power lost his guy on the boards who eventually scored. Thompson pinched on a play when they were changing the third player and he should have made a better decision. All in all Tuch is not good at man coverage, Thompson and Quinn are not good at any coverage. Power is not good and Dahlin, while good, needs to cover for the rest of the defensively inept players who are put on the ice. Were you aware of the goal visualizer? I also added that value. I suppose if you knew then great, but I tried to point out something cool about how we all could watch the players on the ice and clearly see where they made mistakes. I'm glad your point was to focus on a simple mistake though. That really raises the conversation bar doesn't it? I view this game as a litmus test. In recent years the Sabres would come out flat against inferior opponents, only to wake up in the final 10 minutes of the game falling just short of a comeback. Either we see more of the same, or they come out with their hair on fire and try to grab an early lead.

I just can’t wait to see some more three on three hockey tonight. I feel like if we can just get another four or five cracks at it we can figure it out.
