  1. Past hour
  2. To a degree. Even Ruff has to acknowledge that Geertsen doesn't gjve them their best chance of winning any given game when he hasn't put him in the lineup in what, 2, 3 weeks? So, this one should've been, and turned out to be a no brainer. The NEXT move is going to be the really interesting one, because don't believe they want to send any of the guys currently in the lineup down to Ra-cha-cha and they don't want to give up on any of the goalies just yet. But something has to give.
  3. Wasn't thrilled with Ellis getting the start either. BUT if he had moved ahead of Lyon in the pecking order, that set him up to get 2 of the 3 games including this weekend's games and also 2 of the 3 games next week. Personally would've given Lyon the start, Ellis the Hawks and Lyon the Canes and then go with whichever one they consider the 1 in the game on Wednesday. But they seemed to think getting Ellis 2 of these 3 starts was the better play. And now here we are once again missing an opportunity to be playing for a chance to get over NHL 0.500. Need to get past that threshold before they can get to NHL 0.600. And yes, if Adams were relieved of his duties in the AM, wouldn't be crying over it.
  4. Playing three in a row was a test of Ellis. Mixed performance against a weak but highly motivated opponent, and playing behind an uncommitted group of poorly coached and undisciplined players. Call it an Incomplete Grade.
  5. Interesting that neither Rosen or Östlund weren’t sent back down instead.
  6. This is exactly how I feel. I think it makes so much sense. We’re not going to get anything back for him if we try to trade him.
  7. Yeah, he let the Flames put a 6-burger on you.
  8. Curious how many of those PK goals against he was on the ice for came with UPL vs the other 2 guys. THAT could significantly factor into the expected goals against; actual too.
  9. And Benson does all that without having actually scored a goal himself. But he has a lot of assists and knows how to get them. Wish we had 2 of him.
  10. They came back and went right back to sleep. I get being cocky to start, but letting them blow you out after you tied the game? Unconscionable.
  11. Our long national nightmare is over.
  12. Today
  13. Thats why I said “maybe”. It’s possible that Lyon is also a vocal leader too. Not absurd, just a hopeful thought. My questioning of Ellis getting 3 straight games remains. I didn’t think it was necessary for a team carrying 3 goalies. BTW - Tage had a goal and an almost assist on an almost goal. Im good with firing Adams too.
  14. Yesterday
  15. I think that's just absurd. Tuch is a veteran. Tage is a veteran. They did nothing all game and Lyon wasn't changing that. Fire Adams.
  16. Wonder if they handed him a case of Molson Golson on the way out.
  17. Ellis is still promising from what I see. Hindsight says asking him for 3 in a row against a desperate veteran team was a lot, play Lyon and maybe he, being a veteran, knows what to say to the slackers in front if him.
  18. Wasn’t intended as a slight on Ellis but more of a rhetorical question for all of those not pumping the brakes after only a handful of games.
  19. He messed up on the first goal. Rebound control is a work in progress. He kept them in the game in the second period. I didn’t study the goals he gave up in the 3rd, the Flames dominated play the entire period. Hardly seems worth it to watch it twice.
  20. Somewhere, @LGR4GMweeps.
  21. So, has the clock struck twelve on Colton Ellis?
  22. If any other hockey market had to deal with the Pegula era Sabres the team would be moved because no one would care or support the Pegula product. But Buffalo is a small market and lives in fear of losing this team. If the team moves the odds of getting another one are not good. Should this continue another 5 years I think that will be enough to break the spirit of this abused fan base. Can you imagine a 20 year drought? Going to games in that facility and losing for this long is torture.
  23. Forton was the source of the story. He told it on Sabres Live one day
  24. Alex Tuch has not been good on the power play in a few years. His production has dropped on the Power Play every year since 2022-23. He went from 20 PP points in 2022-23, to 11 PP points in 2023-24, to 11 PP points in 2024-25 (in more games so less points per game) and this year through 20 games he has 0 points on the PP.
  25. Maybe not. But I’m thinking that this terrible team culture is unique to Buffalo. No NHL team has a worse reputation either. The Blues and Flames came limping into Buffalo and won. Both teams on backs to backs, both teams playing back up goalies, both team have less talent, and both wins were dominate. These teams knew that the Buffalo game could be wins, and they did everything they could to make it happen. The Sabres players lacked the maturity, leadership, and self awareness to be ready and win the obvious games that they should. Home games at that. Culture is important. Culture is defined by what you do.
  26. Some funny comments, but I have nothing against this guy. The problem is not Geertsen, it’s the people who thought he could help.
