Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
Flashsabre replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I would love to see a new Blue and Gold where it is just Adams telling Jarmo his trade ideas and the camera just pans in on Jarmo’s facial reactions.😁 -
Shawn Bryson is more likely to get voted over Jacob.

Are there major changes coming this summer and who will make them?
Flashsabre replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
For me it’s a guy making $8 million a year and has only passed 35 points in a season once. Couple that with a guy who can’t stay healthy to save his life and you are “hoping” that he somehow comes around. -

From a roster building standpoint, trading Mitts for Byram didn’t help much. From an asset standpoint, they got a highly moveable, valuable asset for a player that appears to be playing his way out of the league. -

None of those options. I think all coaches stay and they make a few minor defensive tweaks to the roster. -

Why was trading him for Mitts smart? This put everything on Cozens and Cozens didn't deliver. That's a mistake. I'm not a Mitts fan and I was actually laughing today listening to a Marco Sturm interview where he said, about Mitts, "I am going to talk to him and we will see. He has to be better". Byram was not the guy we needed and Mitts removal created a hole. Now it's Norris. It's not improvement, it's just rearranging and staying the same. -
Who else fits the bill as a solid 2 way 1st line forward other than Jason Roberstson who's been rumored to be on the trade block? Because right now Robertson is the only player I'm trading him for. I'd definitely not be dealing him for draft picks, I don't think trading him makes much sense unless it's a player of Robertson's caliber.

Probably but if the rumor of a lower first is a thing Philly has those assets and their D isn't deep. Byram could be their #1 PP guy and take the pressure off Drysdale. I could see the interest from them in any event. -

By fit, I mean Norris health is a high risk, if he is not available he has little value. Is he ever going to be a reliable top 6 center? The two teams swapped high salaried players that they didn't like anymore. With Byram, one year after the trade Adams goes on to say he was sure how to use him. Did he trade Mitts for him because he would win the trade or did he get a defenseman that he needed? I do not get any sense of comfort that he is building an NHL roster that can compete. I think they had a very weak center spline last season and so apparently did Lindy. They gave up on Cozens, moved Kulich from wing to center, and moved Tage from center to wing. One bright spot was McLeod. I like Norris when he is healthy but he is a risky player to carry as your 1C/2C. I just get no semblance of a plan to build a winning team. -
Voted off the island on episode 1.

If JJ is staying, which makes sense, and signing a bridge, which also makes sense, it has to be Quinn out the door, there just isnt room for him Kulich Benson and Peterka, and I do think Quinn could get you a nice defensman like a Hague or Kesserling or the like The bridge deal i like too cause that should open cap space for us to make additions elsewhere

I’m excited to see him and Östlund battle it out for roles on this team.

Slow the F down. Helenius is in the AHL and is 18 (19 now) versus Peterka who's 23 and in the NHL. When Helenius gets to the NHL, you might be able to say this bolded. Suggesting that we have some mythical young piece coming that will be a 30g 60pt player while they're 4 more years out is how you end up in a perpetual rebuild. Yes I see the trade Peterka for Robertson part but we cant count on Helenius for anything yet.

Trading Mitts for Byram was smart. Trading Byram for a first now when you could sign him for two years, then trade him for that same 1st as rental, that would be stupid. -

I almost guarantee Brierre lowballed Adams. -
According to Chad D, the Sabres have no intention of trading Peterka either. He says they have fielded calls but nothing has gained traction and the most likely result is JJ signing a bridge. My question is if they are trading Byram for lesser pieces and not trading Peterka, how are the Sabres intending to get better this off-season? It's very clear that if they intend to add a forward, another forward has to go. It's not likely to be Thompson, Norris, McLeod, Greenway, or Zucker. Krebs, Malenstyn and Lafferty don't move the needle. They don't want to move Tuch and if they did it wouldn't be for an upgrade. That leaves Kulich and Benson (who nobody wants to move) and Quinn (who probably won't get a great return). Are we really running back the forwards?

Correct. I suspect Philly has made this offer. Adams is likely just waiting to see who is available in the draft or if someone else will offer more. San Jose likely wants him as well. It would be another example of Adams failure. Mitts out, a one year D man rental in and then ultimately a low first is all we have to show for it. How would you have felt last year if Mitts was traded for a low first? This was all stupid from the start. -
Perfect. We just increased his value for a now player.

The favored markets are for their tv revenues and future expansion. This is why they tried to prop up Phoenix so long. They definitely wanted exposure there. They will roll out the red carpet for Atlanta. This is also why they will not address the tax issue. They want more hockey in the south and Florida and Texas etc help feed that. They know hockey will not die in Canada so they don't care about any Canadian franchise. I also think teams like Buffalo are just taken for granted and they aren't really concerned about them. Bettman has been all about expansion and growth since day 1 and the owners love it as all their franchise values have skyrocketed and expansion fees are just gravy for them.

Good for you kid! See this is another reason I dont have a problem moving Peterka to get a Robertson or someone else, we have young pieces coming if we need them.

Calgary makes a ton of sense for either Rasmus Anderson or Kevin Bahl, I doubt Weegar, but you never know Rangers make sense too if they can move out Krieder, Schnieder for Byram as the base makes sense, I still think K'andre Miller for Sammy can make sense too
