  1. Past hour
  2. So it's not so that it's easier to hang out at Karmanos' place? (Honestly don't know if it's quicker to C-Bus or Buf'lo from the 'Burgh. If Buf'lo is closer, well, as Emily Lutella used to say, "nevermind.")
  3. "Open to [moving the pick] more than maybe I've been in past years," Adams said. "I think we had to really kind of try to build this organization up the appropriate way. And I do believe in building through the draft and developing players and making sure you have depth in your organization, which I think we've done a really solid job of. …" "But I don't think you want to go into it saying, 'Hey, I'm just moving this pick, no matter what.' These are valuable picks, but you're open to everything. And trust me, the League knows that I'm absolutely open to moving [No. 9] if it's the right deal for us." Kevyn Adams https://www.nhl.com/news/sabres-gm-kevyn-adams-says-team-is-open-to-trading-9th-overall-pick-in-2025-nhl-draft
  4. Not sure that he's definitely asked for a trade directly. Indirectly, very likely, in that a statement such as "this is what I want in a LT deal, this is what i'd take in a bridge, if you won't get there I'm sure there are other teams that will give me that, maybe you'd be better off trading me" could very well have been made (through the agent at a minimum). And with Adams having said "we only want players that WANT to be here" then the onus goes on him to either keep his word and trade him because he's only ok with being here not living and dying with that opinion or to keep the good player that is still improving but get called a liar by all the local media and all the people on X and BS. Pretty sure it's easier (definitely more expedient) to simply say "I'm not going to divulge the content of private conversations", after divulging content of the exit interview which also would seem to be a priviate conversation and leave it at that. He still gets flack and gets to reinforce that bunker mentality that @dudacek described but at least he's not a "liar." Which, IMHO is something that Adams is very concerned with. Not sure why, but "honesty" is a significant buzzword for him and he does seem to try to follow it though it does put him through some serious contortions to be able to do the job (sort of) and stay true to keeping "honesty" as one of his guiding traits. Guess that, at the end of the day, it's one of the things that let him (or not) sleep at night. And again, not sure why, but it is probably the most recurring theme of his interviews; even more so than "we only want guys that want to be here."
  5. And that's one of the things that's actually been mentioned for why he's not in already. They didn't want to vote him in and then no-show the induction ceremony because he won't travel. If there's even an ounce of truth to that, shame on those idiots.
  6. It depends who makes the offer, if it's the Rangers I might let him go as don't see them significantly improved with JJP. Yet if it's Tampa mmmm tougher call.
  7. If that's all we get for Byram KA should be fired minutes after.
  8. Hard to say as Scotty Bowman won Cups elsewhere. Granted we didn't have many great Dmen in the 80s after we moved on from Housley.
  9. I think they get a lot more for Byram
  10. I like Smith. His skating is very good and he's a big boy with the ability to smother ppl. 6'4" and 199lbs. With a May bday.
  11. Maybe not when Terry and Penn State are factored in. Personally, I prefer Smith: better toolbox and upside. Love Aitcheson's aggression, just think he might be an upper case Conor Clifton.
  12. I'm kinda expecting it. I had a similar feeling with Jack Quinn in 2020. I was right, but Jack still needs to prove I was right. 😁
  13. Actually, if you pressed me, I think Aitcheson is ranked higher on the Sabres board. Aitcheson is 6'1.5" and 199lbs
  14. My one time favourite player my first favourite player in fact well deserved
  15. I think we are scheduled to “learn to play defence” next year Ruff needed an evaluation year
  16. I think if Jackson Smith is there at 9 they might take him.
  17. At one point the Sabres had Turgeon, Andreychuk, Housley, and Barrasso on the same team. Oldest Housley at 24. Barrasso was traded and Mogilny joined the next year. All are Hall of Famers. I’m not taking anything away from the accomplishments of these men. Great hockey players all. At least 4 cup rings in there. A part of me thinks more patience was needed. But I honestly don’t think they would have sniffed a cup together in Buffalo.
  18. Yep. I was commenting more on what I perceived to be the spirit of the post than anything else.
  19. Today
  20. Strbak, Kleber, McCarthy, Komarov, are all rhds with shutdown styles with size. They've drafted quite a few rhds with some size lately.
  21. Adams mentioned rhd depth specifically when asked about draft stuff and org depth.
  22. Pretty sure you can't. At least not for a year.
  23. I have no idea if Mrtka is good pick at that slot other than it roughly aligns with where most of the usual outlets expect him to be taken. I think it is funny and predictable that after reading for months about the Sabres not paying enough attention to size, handedness and defensive acumen that the idea of them taking a 6'6" RHD with probably the best "shutdown D" resume in the draft class gets a "woof".
  24. Hawerchuck, Andrechuck, Audette, Ledyard, Svoboda. I don’t think we fully appreciated what we had.
  25. There were alot of rumors swirling about Russian mafia shaking down NHL players. I recall Bure being linked to the Russian mob. I always assumed that Mogilny’s fear of flying was related to threats on his life. I know there was speculation it was related to him not wanting to be a Sabre, or not wanting to be under Bowman. I thought fear of the Russian mob was the more likely circumstance.
