  1. Past hour
  2. Terry's insane loyality to Adams is setting this franchise back horribly.
  3. I like Dudley a lot but I agree he should not be the big boss and he might not fit in at all in Buffalo. He is up there in years and probably doesn’t want a full time gig either but I think he would a very fine exec advisor to the big boss. Zito seems to love him. His style of play is what Buffalo fans want. I saw an internet rumor, could have been from here, that he did not want to work for Adams.
  4. They do. But taking the risk is where the reward typically is. (And maybe they'd've gone that other direction had they not been so displeased with how Murray's tenure went. In hindsight, grabbing a sociopath was a bit more risk than they should actually have been taking. 😉 )
  5. You don't like Victor E. Green?
  6. The Sabres don't even need to look at the NHL for who is their competition. A Lacrosse league in their own CITY is running laps around this NHL organization. If that does not sound off the alarms nothing will.
  7. I would love to get Shanahan. That is instant credibility around the league. He is still young and very well connected. I would trade his successes and shortcomings in Toronto for the misery that is the Sabres past 14 years any day I suspect he would want full reign and that will be a problem for Terry. Probably not gonna happen.
  8. Can't disagree more. Why would buffalo have golf cart parking? That is part of the issue, it really can't. Its not the fault of the area but its something that guys like..park their car outside, have golf cars to take around an entire complex. If you don't see that its not an issue that Buffalo can't have it...but that others DO have features like that and players WANT that, then I can't help you. And yes, more players would come here if the team was winning, but its more than a distraction. For you to say its only a distraction is wishful thinking. If Buffalo was 'winning' and a team like Florida is 'winning' at the same level year after year....and a bunch of player were considering where to sign....when its a close decision, the ammenities that other places have that Buffalo does not can sway that decision. He was ahead of his time, sure, but the necessary follow-through was not there. If he did what he did, and the team was a consistent winner for the next 5-10 years, the momentum would have continued. The fact that they squandered the next 10+ years after allowed other teams to catch-up (and pass) what he did in short order.
  9. I agree, it shouldn’t have been a factor but it often is. It’s rare to leave a series of interviews with a slam dunk candidate and when it’s close, people tend to go with familiarity.
  10. Yes I think about that as well. I am quite sure that Boetrill is well spoken, bright and engaging. Very different than Murray. Terry was smitten with landing a Pittsburgh guy, a former Sabre, and I guess he won a bunch of non-NHL Championships that Terry liked to tout. None of this should have been criteria to me but maybe to Terry it was? Zito would have inherited ROR, Eichel, and Reinhart.
  11. The unknown for me is the relationship between the Senior Advisor and the GM. What is the power balance when there is a difference of opinion on players and other issues such as contracts? Whose voice will be more influential if an issue is brought to the owner, whether he wants to stay engaged or not. There certainly could be a lot of upsides for the GM to have a wise sounding board to discuss issues with. Who has the last say? In general, I would think that the GM would be the final authority, but I'm not sure it would be so in this case because our GM has lost some stature due to his performance in office.
  12. So Pegula was ahead of his time with Harbor Center then? Do teams like Boston, Montreal, Detroit and Toronto have anything even as nice as Harbor Center? Maybe Pegula or Gueli will look at what Florida has and consider a Harbor Center upgrade/expansion since they already have a nice facility downtown and right next to the Arena and they can expand the facilities upward or nearby. I still think showing a real commitment to winning and then actually winning and getting into the tournament is the only way.
  13. I know people hate what if’s, but that was the biggest turning point of TPEGS tenure. If he picks Zito, who was the other finalist, the legacy is so much different. I’m sure the Pittsburgh connection was the deciding factor.
  14. Today
  15. I was screaming for Cossa or Wallstedt.
  16. I mention the bat and it conjures up Eleven (no one fact check the timing; it's 2025 and facts don't matter). I'm tellin' ya, that bat idea will return EVERYTHING Sabres to glory.
  17. I read that as “tax” camps and spent ten minutes of my life wondering why lacrosse players had special insight into tax laws.😔
  18. Sounds you'd want Cole Beaudoin and Matias Maccelli. If Adams could pull it off sure but not sure he could.
  19. Rick Dudley is great at what he does but he is notoriously abrasive and difficult to work with. He would be a great addition to the front office but I don’t think he’d bring a lot of people with him. Florida has been the perfect spot for him because he’s out of the spotlight. His joining the Sabres would also be a sign that Terry is willing to back away because Duds isn’t coming here without those assurances. On a personal note, I’d love it. One of my all time favorites, I still remember the day that Punch admitted letting him go to the WHA was his biggest regret as Sabres’ GM. He was that team’s JP Dumont. They underestimated what his toughness and drive meant to the mid-70’s Sabres in the same way Darcy did with Dumont.
  20. Who are we competing with you say. We have our answer....
  21. Who Y'all got today? Roope Hintz injury lingering, and Marchmant kinda gave the "we won't forget" speech to reporters. I think Dallas comes through today for some odd reason.
  22. Smith is interesting. I don't agree he's a type we don't have. Still, you're trading at worst a 35pt top 4 defender for a lesser defender, and a B level prospect. I think Utah would have to add. I also think offers for Byram might be higher. Recent trades make me think he's worth 3 assets. Decent roster player, good prospect, sweetener.
  23. I agree Byram is better hence looking for a prospect back. I brought up Smith as he one that gives us a type we don't have.
  24. Kesselring really only had 1 good season and only has about 2 seasons of play. I think Byram is worth more. He's younger, way more experience, way more points.
  25. Without a doubt, there are rugged defenders than can be puck carriers. However, their acquisition costs are much higher (if available) than a more conservative defender in his zone. In my view, we need maybe two of those more physical defenders to recast the unit. And those type of players should be more attainable than the more valued rugged defender who can carry the puck. For the most part, we're not disagreeing here. The issue is what more doable. We have a good asset in Byram. I like him a lot but we need to remold the blueline to better balance out the unit. When you have an overlapping asset then use it smartly to fill a need.
  26. Middling forward prospect maybe Gabe Smith?
  27. Really quick, because pet peeve, rugged defenders can be puck carriers.
