"It could be a long season for the Sabres, who lost Miroslav Satan and Alexei Zhitnik to free agency. But at least the club re-signed restricted free agents Daniel Briere, Maxim Afinogenov and J.P. Dumont. But the pressure of being the go-to goal scorer now falls on 21-year-old rookie Thomas Vanek, who had eight points this preseason. "He's [Vanek] probably the most all-around gifted player I've been around," said coach Lindy Ruff."

I guess by "long season", he meant Eastern Conference finals. ;)

That's the same guy who thought the real goalie that got robbed by not getting selected by USA for Turin was Bruins goalie Tim Taylor...

This guy is a bonehead with his predictions. NYR and Carolina ranked below Buffalo. Both were/are playoff teams. Eff this guy and SI's hockey dept.

Granted Carolina isn't there yet, but preseason, THN had Buffalo and Carolina in the bottom 4 in the conference. Ooops. (I only had Carolina there. (Where's the d'oh smiley when you need it!))
