I don't know what they charge and how they compare to Sabres prices but I was surprised to read this. Then again Ottawa has a terrible record supporting pro teams. If a city twice the size of Hamilton can't support an NHL team why are they even squawking about adding a 7th Canadian franchise?

I think this is really a smart move by the Sens front office. The fans are still rabid in Ottawa, but a bad economy, packed in games due to the Olympics, vacations to Florida, and the typical holiday expenses that cause household disposable cash to shrink this time of year all create the perfect storm for weak attendance. This is reality, and the Sens are smart enough to get ahead of the problem.

Ottawa is not a typical Canadian city, to many diplomats and cheap bastards that expect everything for free.
