outlaw16511 Posted June 21, 2008 Report Share Posted June 21, 2008 I like what Darcy did with this draft. He went after defense and center. No doubt the Sabres want to be stronger on D and strong at the center position. Hopefully he also starts working on getting rid of our log jam of forwards for some NHL defensemen. This draft says absolutely nothing about the status of Miller. Outside of the first or 2nd round, goalies aren't generally drafted based on need. Teams take them later in the draft to stockpile players that they think may have a chance. Hell, just look at when we drafted Miller. We already had Hasek and two highly regarded first round goalies in Biron and Noronen. Miller was not selected based on need. He was drafted as a "hey, why not" scenario. Hahaha thanks. But the sabres do have the ability to find late round gems. so the fact that Miller was a 5th rounder really doesn't mean that they thought he was a wasted. Only problem with this logic is that Darcy said on GR that he tried to move up from the second round to the end of the first to pick Thomas McCollum.
