Stanley Cup Playoffs Game Discussion Thread

Could see two series end tonight - Pittsburgh could close out the Rags and the beat-up Avs will be without Wolski (upper body) and likely without Statsny (knee) and Smyth (foot) when they try to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Wings.

Thursday's Games

Pittsburgh at New York, Game 4 (Penguins lead 3-0) 7 p.m. ET, Versus - Preview

Detroit at Colorado, Game 4 (Detroit leads 3-0) 10 p.m. ET, Versus - Preview

I fully expect the Rangers to come out and keep from getting thoroughly embarassed despite losing Avery- Penguins close it out 4-1.

The Avalanche are done- Detroit has made them look silly, and the sweep will be complete tonight, no doubt.

Not me.. I think NY was beaten last game and they get swept off the ice tonight. Pitt gets an early goal to shut the crowd down. Builds it to 3-0 before Rangers get one back. 4-1 is final on an empty netter..

The Rangers are really hurting...we know about Avery, but Blair Betts is also out and Drury is a game-time decision. Not only do they lose their agitator, but also probably their two best faceoff men.

It would be some kind of effort by these guys to extend the series.

This is just a bad game of hockey. Pretty uninspired play by both teams. Wish I had another option. Hey maybe I'll flip over to the Piston's/76'ers game......HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

This sucks. Wish I was watching the Sabers.

I would like to see the Sabres

Even if I had to with Jim Nabors

I'd see them for favors

No matter which one of my neighbors

Yes, yes, YES I would like to see the Sabres!

Well I couldn't have been more wrong about this game. Rangers are playing tough and Pitt aint getting the bounces. We need a smiley eating a crow..

Meh, it's just a prediction... nobody can be right every single time!

Now if you don't like Briere and/or you are glad he's gone, then I DO have a crow in my back pocket!!!

Detroit is just too much for the Avs in this series. Every time the Avs scratch and claw their way back into it or find a way to stay with them for a while, the Wings find a way to add another goal.

Wow. 6-1 Wings. Looking like a bar-league butt-kicking. They're just toying with the Avs now, so I don't think I'll stick around to see the handshakes. Where's that shaking-head smiley when you need it? :wallbash:

Thankfully, Colorado is keeping it close. I'd hate to see such a crappy series end with a crappy game.

Let's face it, this whole second round is a disappointment. (Well, unless you're from Pennsylvania, Michigan, or Mexico.)

Reminds me of the '02 WCF when the Wings bombed the Avs 7-0 in Game 7... :wallbash:

You're no Dr. Seuss,

You're not even Don Luce.

If only Ryan Miller

Was close to being a killer.

Or if Derek Roy

Would just score, not be coy,

And with his teammate Max,

Just get down to brass tacks,

By next May the Sabs could turn loose

A demon nicknamed "Goose."

(I'm no poet, either.)

Well done, sir! I thought silly was the right way to go, for I lost my sanity the end of March. :bag:

Ugh. 7-1, looks like another goal for Franzen. Unreal. 11 goals in 10 games for the Mule.

Unreal.

Serious question: Anybody that watched this series still want JM Liles?

I was trying to keep my eye on him. Can't say I would be too excited or disappointed with getting him. Plays smallish. Decent shot and release. Good skater, not quite as quick as I thought he was.

Can join the rush.

I would still take him, with his main emphasis on his role as PP QB. He hasn't wowed me this series (but then again, no one in an Avs jersey has) but he hasn't been terrible. If he is that much of a liability at ES we can limit his ES minutes and make him a PP specialist, but then you have to look at how much he is worth as just a PP QB and not an all-around defenseman.

It really would depend on the price, and IMO, on nothing else. He's decent, not great, and if the price is right, sure.
