Heavens to Mergatroyd. I didn't intend anything by the images above other than to demonstrate that my aversion to the phrase "getting your bell rung" wasn't a "personal problem," as had been stated.
-
Right? So *******. (Edited to remove use of the "R-word" slur. Hat tip to @LTS.)

I think the use of that phrase - and others - is problematic. They date to a time when concussions weren't acknowledged and player safety was an afterthought. Wrt this being a "personal problem" of mine: https://concussionfoundation.org/sites/default/files/2021-01/CLF_Media_Project_22_Dos_013121.pdf https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5384814/

Getting cap relief from a player like McGovern seems like a no-brainer. Beane deserves a solid passing grade for that FA acquisition.

And here's how Sal M. with the Rochester newspaper frames the low-hanging fruit of salary cap management. This will be happening imminently, given that the new season starts in a couple of weeks. The Bills will gain a huge chunk of relief by re-working Allen’s contract. His cap hit will be cut in half - down to about $24 million - by converting almost all of his $23.5 million base salary into a bonus which can then be spread out in the coming years. They could also do restructures with Dawkins, White, Morse, and Johnson to free up space. The most difficult decisions will be the inevitable cutting of players and among those who would provide the most space are Morse ($8.4 million), White ($6 million), Jordan Poyer ($5.4 million), Deonte Harty ($4.2 million), Nyheim Hines ($4.9 million), Siran Neal ($2.9 million), Reggie Gilliam ($1.9 million), and Sam Martin ($1.2 million). https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2024/02/26/buffalo-bills-salary-cap-situation-2024-worst-in-nfl-heres-why/72743634007/

Fwiw - here's the FantasyPros site's aggregation of how the mock drafts, taken as a whole, are leaning for the Bills' first round selection (they provide three possible choices, with the big WR from LSU being deemed the most likely).

These GIFs are dissents from the use of the phrase bolded above.

He is going to get hurt, if he isn't already.

I have come to conclude that this is the essential and correct take on the Sabres’ current roster. I love the idea of having a player like Brady Tkachuk on the Sabres. But something seems off with the player right now. The Sabres would not be a good landing spot for him. Has it been mentioned upthread that Brady Tkachuk would need an Eichel:Knights scenario?
-
That was just bad luck!! ALL THE THINGS!!
-
Evans would make the Bills a lot better next season, which is all I care about. He will probably be out of the Bills’ price range anyway.
-
Salary cap ballooning. Is Mike Evans a possibility?
-
Yeah - that’d be good. @nfreeman: Please merge this one into the first Bills 2024 thread? 🥺

He’s an oilman, a speculator. He was far, far more likely to go broke than become a billionaire. Fortune smiled on him. -

He seems like a genuinely nice guy. And yes, it’s time for (new) leadership from the player wearing the C. -

Fans and mods should strive for coherence alike. Your post 🆙 thread made no sense (to me). -

Well, fans too. I still have no idea what you were trying to say. -

It’s possible that the losing is a symptom of an underlying problem. This thread is generally directed to discussing that underlying problem — or at least aspects of it. -

That was quite a tangent. Mods should strive for more coherence. -

You’re getting at a fundamental disagreement on the dynamic at play here. Are the fans and players on substantially equal footing such that booing from the fans justifies the players reacting in kind? Or do the players owe a higher duty to their fans such that they are obligated to take a high road when a segment of the attendees boo the team and chant for the coach’s firing? I’m in the camp of the higher duty being owed by the players. Also: For the committed core who are still showing up, it’s more than a product. Lol at the few hundred rejoinder. -

I’ve inferred it’s KO. There are fairly lengthy quotes in the article. They sound every bit like things he’d say.
