I keep hearing about Marner. I watch very little hockey outside of the Sabres. He's apparently quite something, eh? He's a winger, yes? But it sounds almost like he drives play like a centre. I scrolled through a Twitter debate over who you'd rather have -- Eichel or Marner. And it was a real debate with reasoned opinions.

It's a multi-use building, though. The same Aud acoustics that allowed fans in the reds to hear some loudmouth start a cheer in the oranges are the acoustics that made that place a terrible place to see a concert. Just brutal, in my experience, from an acoustics standpoint. Those cigarette butts hanging from the rafters were there just for show, maybe. OTOH, I went to see the Dave Matthews band at the arena a few years ago. Sat in the 200s. The acoustics were so good, I felt a bit like we were at a listening party in someone's living room -- i.e., it was a fairly lame live music scene.

Kim Pegula let slip as much at one point prior to the mid-terms. It's pretty obvious that Cuomo made some promises to PSE that he said he'd fulfill after the 2018 election. It was a very good arena when it was built, but, the development urges ($$) of pro sports franchises being what they are, it quickly fell off the pace of being best in class. Also, I don't think the arena being ho-hum in design and layout has much to do with it being quiet and lifeless. The most pain I ever experienced from sound was at game 6 of the 2006 ECF -- Briere's OT winner, sitting in the upper 300s -- eee gads was that loud.

Here we go: http://www.psentertainment.com/newsX/62?utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral Also: I realize that KBC is part of the study. I tend to think that's not the focus.

Ehhhh. The Bills were doing a much better job against the run by the time the tussle happened. OTOH, they would have had a better chance of scoring from the 1 with Fournette in the game.

Beyond Blue and Gold: Sabres.com series

@PASabreFan: Scrolling through Instagram tonight, and I noticed that the Sabres’ #hockeyfightscancer post is designated as a “paid partnership” ad with Roswell Park. That seems new. And I wonder if it’s a level of transparency that Instagram (owned by Facebook) now requires following the 2016 election. -
^ Good take. Also, I am fairly flabbergasted that the team's stated preference to keep Thompson up with the big club -- rather than giving him minutes in Roch -- has apparently worked (to a point, so far). Tip of the hat to that approach. I was sure it was dead wrong to go about things that way.

Slow your roll. That was not the best framing on my part. More accurately stated, I had meant to say they looked old and acted confused and overwhelmed. So, taken together, they appeared to be a crew for whom the toll of time had come. "Addled" might have been another word I could have used. (A word that is frequently associated with old folks who appear confused.) It's entirely possible for a crew of 70 year-olds to have been sharp as tacks and in control of that game. That was definitely not the case yesterday. Um, yes?

This is a good point. Sal from WGR pointed out this morning that 2 of Allen's best throws were erased by penalties (on consecutive plays, no less). Which reminds me: The officiating crew looked and acted old, confused, and overwhelmed.

The Buffalo Sabres: Ghosts of Christmas Past & Future

That video is a lot of fun. Really nice choices of footage - and the slowing the clips down gives me a new appreciation for what happened in those moments. The craftsmanship is noticeable, too. That little bump that 6 and 29 do at the very end happens on a down beat. Again: Fun.
