  1. It really is hard to figure. I should hope that it wasn't something as simple as not wanting to admit that they squandered what they paid to acquire him.
  2. PTL. That guy has been so clearly disinterested. Given his attitude and track record, I half wonder whether he'll even catch on anywhere else in the league.
  3. Well there's your first mistake. Seriously. There's part of me that can't stand how condescending Schopp is to many callers. There's another part of me that's like, "I get it, man. I get it."
  4. His long-ball to Foster a couple weeks ago was the picture of composure in a crowded pocket. This past week: And:
  5. I've been noticing this for a few days now - the site just seems gummy and delayed. I had thought maybe the issue was more general to my CPU or server. But it seems specific to this site. Anything I can do to improve speed?
  6. Lord have mercy. I had not really focused on the fact that he bailed early. Hopefully, he'll get that sorted out. Also agreed on the deep vertical nature of all those routes.
  7. Oh, man - it's taking will power not to circumvent the swear filter. BEAT THE GOSH DARN LEAFS. Please. Let's go, Buffalo.
  8. I mostly saw the second, where they looked quite good. Real-time SAT data indicated that the Predators fairly controlled the 3rd though (?).
  9. Fwiw: What I’ve been harping on is the suggestion that Allen’s and Clay’s errors in that play were essentially equivalent. Allen’s error came in failing to flawlessly pull off a spectacular play. Clay’s errors were more fundamental, imo. (If Clay comes back to his QB more and moves his feet better, he makes that catch look easy.)
  10. This is ill-wrought and comes off as condescending. Correct on all counts.
  11. As if the seconds within which he actually threw the ball could exist in abstracted isolation from the rest of the play that led up to it. The takery that views Allen as making a really bad (even pitiful!) throw is utterly perplexing to me. It was a wobbly throw that could have been better. But it was good enough. You know what wasn't good enough? Clay's footwork. #stumbletrip
  12. It was an imperfect throw made in connection with a remarkable effort. It was good enough. And it was catchable, which, under the circumstances, was impressive.
  13. Really good post. I especially like this excerpted bit. Along those lines: The field-angle clip of Daboll collapsing to the ground when Clay failed to haul in that long ball was really something. Yep.
  14. Do agree with this. It's pretty remarkable. McCoy says it all the time, and I credit: The guy is just a baller. I'm still very much unsure whether he can be a good NFL quarterback over time. If it does not come together for him, it will not be for lack of effort. Interesting. He's certainly absurdly competitive and inherently self-confident like Flutie.
  15. Over in Europe, a Swedish prosecutor has charged the player who obliterated Paille with a blindside hit. https://deadspin.com/sweden-will-prosecute-hockey-player-for-blind-side-hit-1830738327
  16. I think I’m done with the ROR debates, too. But sometimes lively tangential debates arise, and need to play out, in an unrelated thread. Telling people to take it to a dedicated thread isn’t always practicable. It’s not unlike the difference between an honest fight erupting from the flow of play between 2 welterweights and a staged fight between 2 enforcers (not that those happen anymore).
  17. Man. Moments before the winner, I posted (in surprise and astonishment): He's a low-event, low-risk sort of player, but he's been surprisingly good most of the time.
  18. Agreed with this. Berglund is obviously somewhat limited, but I recall him being pretty effective a lot of the time in a supporting role. What's his situation now? Injured? (Or just hurt?) I know I could look it up. But why bother when someone here just knows off the top of their head?
  19. I think a lot of it has to do with the angle from which he watches, and then the fact that he's watching a tiny replay screen. But there's part of it that also seems to be just an inability to quickly process what's happening on the replay. I mean, I saw it at home.
  20. I understand what you're saying. There's value nonetheless in parents saying "that's off limits because the language is so foul [or insert other reason]." There's a message being conveyed and reinforced. Also, FTFY.
