  1. Exactly. Unless and until this team gives me something for which to cheer (outside of magical and unsustainable winning streaks in October and November), I'll be doing dumb sh1t like this.
  2. Dovetailing with the article above: An enormously interesting piece on the future of the pyramid organization in England. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/football-league/premier-league-epl-efl-league-one-two-championship-miguel-delaney-a8926126.html
  3. Thanks for giving me a reason to spell it the way I hear it in my head. #Rahhhhkrooooo
  4. I hear it as a sort of wolf howl. Rahhhh- krooooooo!
  5. There's something very pleasing about RaKru to me.
  6. I love that this is still a thing.
  7. Re the first piece, I'm open to the idea that Eichel has, or is trying to work through, a fatal flaw in his makeup as an elite player. His tendency to coast at times, lose focus, failing to grind when things aren't going his way or the puck isn't finding him. I used to be more concerned than I am now. I think he's trending in the right direction. The reports from his play in the worlds tourney have been encouraging. And not for nothing: The reason Crosby was/is the best player in the world for a long stretch of time had so much to do with the fact that he was the hardest working player on the ice and at the rink. He had world-class talent, sure. But he matched that talent with the level at which he played. Re the second piece, I'm trying to manage my excitement for what RaKru could bring to the table. I'm a Liverpool supporter, so the Klopp comparisons are quite enticing.
  8. This is an excellent post. Among the best I've seen around here in a dog's age. I prefer @dudacek's nuance on the subject over the rigidity of an over-used aphorism.
  9. Not sure if it's been discussed upthread. RaKru is heralded as a master of communicating with players and then uniting them as a team. Had he been here, could RaKru have eliminated the "need" to trade ROR?
  10. Right. There must be some plausible deniability voodoo they're running. It's been widely reported that it costs a cable company, Sling, etc. $6 per month to provide the various ESPN properties to a subscriber. How can Area51 provide those ESPN channels and hundreds of others for $7 per month? It doesn't wash.
  11. Lol. (And, yes, I know the two posts aren't linked.)
  12. You're consistently thoughtful and articulate (and imaginative!). Your apology's mea culpa's no good here, sir.
  13. @... anticipated some of what I was going to say in reply. I guess I'm aware that those big bodied western teams - Kings, Ducks - became notorious as "heavy" teams. But I don't think of the heavy style as being played by big bodied teams. It's really more a style and mentality -- and execution of that style -- that can make a game heavy. I think of ROR as a very heavy player. But he doesn't hit anyone. I think it should be a good series.
  14. There are few teams I hate as much as Boston. Go, Blues.
  15. Given his history, I had wondered why this particular staff signed him. Now that this has happened, I wonder whether they’ll keep him on. Also, broken feet among NFL route runners strikes me as among the most inevitable issues in that game. The way those guys punish their feet with pressure, torque, etc. is insane. I agree: The franchise should have kept the number shelved. Dude. He was absolutely magnetic and electrifying, on and off the field. That’s for sure. As for being like that off the field: Narcissistic sociopaths can be that way, I’m told (as you seem to have acknowledged).
  16. That’s an interesting note: Two “heavy” teams in the finals. The death of heavy hockey was overstated, evidently.
  17. Also this: https://www.comparitech.com/iptv/area-51-iptv/ Hard pass.
  18. ^ I clicked through. The service strongly suggests that you use a VPN that will cloak your identity and disclaims knowledge of whether its content providers have licenses to provide their content. I’m mystified at how that service can operate in the open.
  19. Sorry. I'm totally distracted by the idea/image of RaKru holding out his balls to his players.
  20. Damn. Got it now. I'm in a total fog of late, in case that wasn't evident.
  21. Thanks. My question was directed to the inclusion of that video clip. I felt rick roll'd.
  22. savage and accurate take on Man City https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soccer/english-soccer/ken-early-city-s-domination-has-been-bought-and-they-re-paying-the-price-1.3897613 also - financial fair play is mostly a mystery to me.
  23. This is timely for me as well, as I cut the cord and have no clue how or whether I plan to watch the Sabres next season. What are the cord-cutting options if you're located within the market? My sense is that there are none. Something about cloaking my VPN and getting NHL center ice?
