War and Treaty's coming to Babeville on June 24th. I have a conflict, but, Lord, I am trying to get there. For those who don't know their story -- especially Mike "War" Trotter's story -- CBS ran this over Memorial Day weekend:

Bruh. C'mon. My point was simply that we've seen Allen do interesting*** promisingand remarkable things in the context of real NFL games. So, the fact that he's looking sharp, crisp, etc. in OTAs means something ... well, different than Peterman having looked like a competent signal caller during training camp and the preseason. I'm not sure if it will end up meaning anything. But, here in late May, I'll take it. *** not the right word, as Peterman definitely did some interesting things in real NFL games.
-
Sal C. definitely has some "fan" in him. I also generally find him astute and thoughtful.
-
Yeah, yeah. Just a good sign is all. Not for nothing, but what had Peterman done prior to that report (or ever) to provide hope that he could be a good NFL QB? Allen looking sharp is encouraging.

It's only May. It. Is. Only. May. But, whatever. Allen's reportedly looking terrific at OTAs. https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/opinion/capaccio-josh-allen-was-terrific-tuesdays-ota

The 2019 Stanley Cup Final. St Louis vs Boston

To borrow a phrase, the Bruins are an absolute wagon. The Blues need to get right, or they're gonna get swept. p.s. I watched a little more than half the game. I guess I didn't see the blatant missed/bad calls. What I know is that the Blues got absolutely trucked starting with the second period. -

I think this is fair. I’m not sure whether RaKru will succeed. But I am more than encouraged by what he’s said, how he conducts himself, etc. -

The way he said the Pegulas’ name was lulzy. -

I think I may end up with this one, after I've had my jollies with RaKru. -

Fair. Names like this always confound my understanding of the hockey naming rules. His name ends in an -er ... so it already is a hockey name. Perhaps even more extreme is that guy Ron Hainsey. Is he Hainer? Also, I'm less looking for a hockey nickname and more looking for a message board shorthand. -

Exactly. Unless and until this team gives me something for which to cheer (outside of magical and unsustainable winning streaks in October and November), I'll be doing dumb sh1t like this. -

There's something very pleasing about RaKru to me. -
I love that this is still a thing.

Re the first piece, I'm open to the idea that Eichel has, or is trying to work through, a fatal flaw in his makeup as an elite player. His tendency to coast at times, lose focus, failing to grind when things aren't going his way or the puck isn't finding him. I used to be more concerned than I am now. I think he's trending in the right direction. The reports from his play in the worlds tourney have been encouraging. And not for nothing: The reason Crosby was/is the best player in the world for a long stretch of time had so much to do with the fact that he was the hardest working player on the ice and at the rink. He had world-class talent, sure. But he matched that talent with the level at which he played. Re the second piece, I'm trying to manage my excitement for what RaKru could bring to the table. I'm a Liverpool supporter, so the Klopp comparisons are quite enticing.

This is an excellent post. Among the best I've seen around here in a dog's age. I prefer @dudacek's nuance on the subject over the rigidity of an over-used aphorism.

Not sure if it's been discussed upthread. RaKru is heralded as a master of communicating with players and then uniting them as a team. Had he been here, could RaKru have eliminated the "need" to trade ROR?

Right. There must be some plausible deniability voodoo they're running. It's been widely reported that it costs a cable company, Sling, etc. $6 per month to provide the various ESPN properties to a subscriber. How can Area51 provide those ESPN channels and hundreds of others for $7 per month? It doesn't wash.

Lol. (And, yes, I know the two posts aren't linked.)

You're consistently thoughtful and articulate (and imaginative!). Your apology's mea culpa's no good here, sir.

Round Three:2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs The Conference Finals
That Aud Smell replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
@... anticipated some of what I was going to say in reply. I guess I'm aware that those big bodied western teams - Kings, Ducks - became notorious as "heavy" teams. But I don't think of the heavy style as being played by big bodied teams. It's really more a style and mentality -- and execution of that style -- that can make a game heavy. I think of ROR as a very heavy player. But he doesn't hit anyone. I think it should be a good series.
