  1. I saw that in real time and didnโ€™t get the joke. That is rough. And funny.
  2. Such an under-utilized dis. I award you 50 internet points. I remember hearing this while Eichel was here as well. It may have even been discussed here? Accepting as true that Eichel talked to some of this teammates, and not others (the cool kids club), it just makes sense. He probably did not even see it as holding himself above them, or diminishing them as not worth his time. He's probably not that self-aware. He just does not know what it means to lead, and how true leadership (at least in this setting (sports!)) is rooted in a spirit of service to those you are leading.
  3. @The Ghost of Doohickie i'm just clowning around here - advocating in favour of the fans vociferously booing the sh1t out of eichel because it's FUN TO BOO THE BAD GUY.
  4. Man did he ever answer the bell. Total punk move by the Las Vegas player. I haven't heard an update on Fitzgerald - did he not return to action? I do hope he can carve out a role in the 3rd pairing (on a good team). I love the element of cah-raz-ee that he brings.
  5. These things are so volatile and even delicate (not the right word, but ...?) when they're coming together. If they can start being a @deluca67 .500 team at some point over the next ~50 games (not be Deluca 500 over the next 50), then they're on their way -- because the culture is there. But if they don't become that sort of club by/within next season, then culture is for naught -- you gotta win. I love the guy, and his teammates clearly do as well. Precisely right, though, about being a #1 or even a 1A isn't something he should be doing right now. This is sports, man. Fug that sh1t. Hate* is fun as hell. *Sports hate. This isn't real life.
  6. Bang on. I think itโ€™s better for listenership if theyโ€™re skewing against how listeners are feeling?
  7. Sure. In the meantime, Iโ€™ll take what I can get.
  8. I am actually grateful to Eichel. Itโ€™s great to have a villain.
  9. This is totally unfair on my part, but when I see Matt Ellis behind the bench, my heart sinks a little.
  10. Why does this persist? Please stop. Also, PSA: Please don't feed the trolls. Blocking a poster does not prevent you from seeing those posts when they're quoted by others.
  11. I saw PA call our HC Tony (Granato) in another post. Is this a thing?
  12. Yeah. We may have finally bottomed out. The Sabres need to work up some marketing angles for people arriving from the Middle East as well as southern and southeast Asia.
  13. Perhaps not. Then again, not all opinions are quite as strong as saying that the Sabres don't currently have a legitimate NHL coach. The stronger the opinion, the more apt it is to be an agenda, or, perhaps worse, a narrative. Hailing from a family of hockey royalty should help as well.
  14. You take the position that he's not "an NHL coach." But no agenda. ๐Ÿคจ
  15. That does seem like an area that can be lacking. Biron seemed pretty insistent during the Kings game broadcast that the plan the Sabres had coming in was not working and that they needed to change their approach to gaining the zone.
  16. Paging @PASabreFan ... paging @PASabreFan. Please pick up the nearest blue and gold courtesy phone.
  17. I saw the talk in the Kings GDT about how Granato was a cheap-ass budget option as HC, that no legitimate NHL coach wanted the job anyway, and HC DG is so deficient that he's holding the team back (or will hold them back, maybe?). So I dug around and found this thread. I'm not really objective when it comes to DG. I just like him. I really like him. I like how he carries himself. I like what he says when he's interviewed. I like his "vibe." I like what appears to be his core philosophy as an NHL HC - in terms of how you develop players and how you build a team (positive reinforcement, play to your strengths, don't play scared, develop an open and fast pace of play). I like that he was instrumental in turning around Dahlin's stalled/failing development. I like that he helped turn Tage Thompson into a good top-6 NHL forward. But there are others who think he's not enough. @PASabreFan, for one. So, what gives?
  18. The Panthers are apparently really, really good - but not in the dull way that the Kings are good. Let's go, Buffalo!
