Speaking of 80s Bills greats, I was watching a non-Bills NFL broadcast at some point this season and Jerry Butler’s name came up as a holder of some WR record (or maybe a top-3 placeholder). It was cool to see that.
-
I remain confused. I wasn’t aware of the Bills making highlight videos back then. Regardless, if someone says “name the premier Bills running back from the early and mid 80s,” fans are going to say Cribbs (not Hooks or Riddick).
-
I get the sense no one’s really in on OBJ to play this season. If Beasley can generate that “passing as running game” element, it will mask some of the line’s deficiencies.
-
Huh? Cribbs was a premier RB1 in his (brief) heyday. And an excellent pass catcher to boot.
-
Checks out. Hence trying to sign that Washington third down back (I forget his name), then drafting Cook, then signing Hines. As for Hines: We are still waiting on that guy to make a play. Hasn't happened yet. But I think it will!
-
If Beasley can get the team 3 or 4 first downs per game when it's 3rd and 6 (or less), I will purchase and listen to his sh1tty rap music.
-
He used to, anyway. (I'll keep saying it.) Maybe the training staff can get him injected with some TB12 magic juice or something. I am all in on hoping Beasley can deliver that 6 catches for 34 yards type line.
-
Possibly? There was an early (the first?) play of the game for the Bills where Allen *had* Diggs (for a big gain or maybe even a YAC score) and just missed him by a bunch. So there's probably something to the idea that the elbow is affecting accuracy/timing. But for the drops I have in mind? Those are not on the QB. Those are eliciting "CATCH THE EFFING BALL" cries from our area of the 300s. Nobody used to move the chains like Beasley, anyway. He was incredible. Was. God willing, he can find the magic for a few months. Agreed 100% that McKenzie cannot be the team's first choice at slot receiver.
-
Nah, man. The fault with the drops lies overwhelmingly with our skill position players. Knox and Singletary each had at least one groaner against the Jets. And McKenzie had 2 crucial drops (of eminently catchable balls (in one case, he just lacked the footwork and body control to make what should be a simple catch at that level)) - hence the Beasley signing. Crowder's injury looms large for the Bills. McKenzie is not a playoff team's slot receiver. Sorry, Lil' Dirty. You're just not reliable.

Beasley liked the Tweet.

The Bills sorely miss what Beasley used to do. I don’t think Beasley can do that anymore.
-
I can't disagree with any of this - except for the fact that we stuck it out and stayed for the 2nd half. The Bills desperately need to upgrade that O-line. Among other things, Knox's production is suffering as a result of its inadequacy.

I don't think that style of call will ever be found in modern hockey PBP people. Rick was a master of course - and Ted Darling did it nicely as well - because they cut their teeth doing radio calls. IMO, Dunleavy's okay. And frankly, I'm okay with that so long as the hockey team improves. As posted here multiple times, I still can't stand his inexplicable aversion to announcing that someone has scored. The making of a goal does not call for the continuation of a narrative. It calls for an exclamation. An ***** one. Edited: The filter struck the word ej.aculated. I meant it in its secondary (?) meaning. As in: "'He SCORES!' ej.aculated the announcer."

Yeah - I now appreciate the nuance involved here. Not all ACL repairs are created equal, obviously (except it was not obvious to me initially).
-
-
Me neither. I just heard ACL tear repair. That’s usually a year or so.
-
Based on my experience as a sports fan: No. For what that's worth. Rapaport/Schefter each have detailed Tweets out there describing how and why it took this long to discover it. They went in to realign something in the knee that was out of wack (something about a part being in the wrong "channel") and, in so doing, saw (*saw*) that the ACL was sufficiently torn to require repair (and I believe they repaired it on the spot (?)). What also hurts: Miller being shelved until early 2024 makes his contract a problem. And then who knows how effective he'll be when he returns. This is a second tear of the same ACL.
-
Ooof. Without Miller's presence off the edge, I have a hard time seeing the Bills winning the Super Bowl. Sucks.

No game is a given W in the NFL. That's just a fact. That said: The Bills have tougher sledding generally over the remainder of the season' schedule than the Chiefs do. I'm not sure how Cinci's schedule is looking. Then again, my sense is that every team is playing more divisional games over the next 5 weeks or whatever. Divisional games are always unpredictable. This weekend is a big test. The Jets D is nasty.
