That is a good trade for sens.
Assuming DeBrincat signs with them long term.
Just now, North Buffalo said:Does this change Sabres choices at 9?
I don't think so as Chicago is in rebuild mode and like Ottawa could draft anything.

#7 and #39 this year and a 3rd in 2024. Senators did well.

Wish the Sabres made that deal.
Agreed.

Dodged a bullet here, thank you Matt.
And Kevyn......what in tarnation are you doing?
Maybe Adams was trying to get Murray and pick 7 in the draft for pick 16. Hard to say but either way glad we didn't get Murray as not sure he's starting caliber.

So it's in KA's interest to either sign him now or trade him for a pick better than the 62nd or 63rd.
Move him and Portillo and a 1st and Olofsson for a proven goalie.

Erik Rasmussen, I thought we were getting a steal because he was very hyped coming out of Minnesota. I thought he be a dynamic two way center. Instead we got meh.

If we want a big cap hit and young guy to fit in with the rest of our guys I say give a prospect (or two) and a few picks for Alex DeBrincat.

I wonder if Minnesota is interested in Ryan Johnson?
They would have the most views of him and they could use guys on their ELCs.
Maybe Dumba is available as a “cap casualty” and the Sabres do them a favour.
I would like to see Johnson sign and develop in Rochester but a top 4 RHD would be a nice add.
Dumba's got a no movement clause of 10 teams, most likely we're on it. Yet it's a nice thought as I don't think Ryan's signing here because of Power/Dahlin.

Malcolm Subban is still looking for a job.
If we re-sign Subban than he's an emergency Sabres goalie aka playing in Rochester most of the season.

Would throw a late round pick at that
I'm not sure Toronto be willing to help us, they'd probably ask for higher pick just because.

Given the choice I think I'm happier with Tuch.
I agree, granted I wanted more than just Fiala but so far Tuch, Krebs etc. is looking like a good get.

I wanted Fiala in a trade of Eichel but alas we didn't get him and it would have been nice if the Sabres offered the rights to Ryan Johnson and one of our 1sts for Fiala but have a feeling we didn't even look to try and get him.

Kuemper is the big UFA goalie prize this off-season. He was pretty average, at best, in the playoffs, but whoever gets him is getting a true top 10 NHL goalie in my view.
After Kuemper, the next big 3 are Husso, Fleury and Campbell. Husso was awful two years ago. Fleury was objectively bad last year and Campbell had a good 1st half to last season and a poor 2nd half. It will not be shocking if Reimer is as good or better than any of Campbell, Husso and Fleury this coming season. The Sabres could and likely will do worse than James Reimer.
Jack Campbell might cash in as he was a highly touted guy when drafted and finally put all things together to have a good season for the Leafs last season. I personally don't want him but feel some team could try to get him.

Has KA identified another Tuch like player that would love to be closer to home and play for Buffalo?
Iafallo from Eden won't be moved by LA.
Joel Farabee from Syracuse just re upped with Flyers.
Sean Kuraly with Columbus hat NTC with Columbus.
Dustin Brown set to retire. Would have loved him in Sabres uni for one year to help mentor kids.
Nick Foligno has NMC with Boston.
Andrew Poturalski is an UFA from Williamsville. Had a great year in AHL. Could be a nice depth signing for Amerks, and always a chance to get called up to your home town.
Justin Bailey is from Buffalo and could also be a nice depth signing for Amerks as well.
Miles Wood is an RFA and would look great in a Sabres uni. I would trade Olofsson, R2and Fitzgerald to NJ for Wood and McCloud.
Justin Bailey? If he's smart he hangs them up, I didn't think he was an NHLer when we had him and for his sake I wouldn't bring him back.

I'd offer FLA's 2022 first pick which we own... rights to Ryan Johnson... and Portillo for Kane... perhaps Philly's 2023 2nd round as a sweetner... Toews contract 10.5 million is unmovable... Kane is off the books at 10.5 million which would give the Hawks extra cap space after spending stupid money on Jones along with giving up picks in that belied the rebuild that is coming... does Kane fit culture and would he stay on a new contract... don't know, but the Sabres have thrown cash (spaghetti) against the wall many times... it may worth trying it with Kane
We don't need a Kane, we need help on D and between the pipes.

Interesting that the only other time we drafted 9OA was along with a 16OA. And exactly 40 years ago.
And we had 3 first rounders in 1982 too yet the other one was higher in the draft and was some guy named Phil Housley.

How long does anyone figure before he comes up to Buffalo for good?
Late this year or maybe early next season, it depends how he performs and how healthy the rest of the team can stay.

what will we do now with all our spare time now that the Eichel trade has happened?
Talk about what goalie we should trade for since we still don't have a starting one.

That's not what I said. It is very clearly not what I said.
I'm just saying if we're looking towards the 2023 draft those kids might be in the NHL by 2025. I'm glad the saga is over but man this year isn't looking good after the bright start. As so far for Eichel and Reinhart we've gotten no NHL players back which to me maddening but maybe there is hope.

The 2023 draft could be absurd. There will be at least 2 extremely high end talents in that draft plus it should feature plenty of high end depth into round 3.
So we're playing for 2025 now? just enough time when we sour on Cozens and Dahlin.
