I use lump for my Big Green Egg.. but that's a whole other level of charcoal cooking and completely blows away gas...but they are damn pricey. I admit that I didn't pay for mine, my brother in law got one from a PGA event and gave it to me. Having said that, if it bit the dust I'd buy another immediately without hesitation. They really are that awesome. My other grill is a Weber Performer that is technically part propane grill. I have the version where you can connect those mini camping propane tanks for a gas assisted start of the charcoal, so I don't even need my chimney starter anymore. Again, ready to cook in 10 minutes tops. A lot of you guys sound like a couple of my neighbors a few years ago with the propane. After hanging out with me at my man cave and eating my food they both have kettles and have ditched the gas. I do understand though, ten years ago I was the same way with propane. Yes indeed. There is something so primal and relaxing about building fire with an ice cold ancient intoxicating beverage in hand. On a week night it's a perfect time for a macro lager.

Plus that's an extra 10 minutes of serenity with a beer out back waiting for chimney to do its thing. Agreed with everything except the starter laced briquettes. I may just be extra sensitive, but starter fluid chemical taste ruins the food for me.

Chimney starter $10. 10 minutes to start grilling on charcoal.
-
In that price range, the best option is a Weber kettle charcoal grill and a chimney starter. I got rid of my gas grill years ago and have zero regrets. And you can use the Weber as a smoker using the snake method.

Agreed on wicked weed. But calling SN and NB anything close to swill is total and complete nonsense.

It just opened earlier this year. The New Belgium east coast brewery should be more exciting as it likely signals New Belgium availability in WNY soon. There were already plenty of reasons to visit Asheville with the Biltmore, blue ridge parkway etc. But now with the elite craft beer scene it becomes a no brainer.

Good to know as I'll be vacationing on Chautauqua lake later this summer and have Southern Tier penciled in for a few "sessions". And Deschutes is looking at Asheville for their east coast brewery. Just an embarrassment of craft beer riches in western NC. http://www.citizen-times.com/story/news/local/2015/04/24/craft-brewer-deschutes-eyeing-asheville-area-brewery/26302979/

John Shannon: "The Sabres would be better not making the playoffs"
Claude_Verret replied to beerme1's topic in The Aud Club
By the very definition of tank...a team built by the GM to lose purposely...I don't see how anyone can think this year will be another tank. Now they may very well be too young and not ready to win consistently, but this season in no way, shape or form will resemble a tank job. -
So here's a view of the beer garden behind the Sierra Nevada brewery. The back of the brewery looks down over an amphitheater that backs up to the French Broad river. According to one of our Uber drivers, rumor has it that they will kick off their concerts there soon with a large national act. I love the fact they kept this in the tradition of a true German beer garden with chill music, no TV's and just an awesome place to relax, enjoy nature, friends and great beer. New Belgium has their work cut out for the brewery they will be opening in 2016 near downtown Asheville. And the food...duck fat pommes frites... smoked pig cheeks... awesome.

We won't be icing a 75% AHL roster next year, and a whole roster of guys playing a line or two above their level. Therefore IMO a tank like we witnessed these past two seasons will be next to impossible to achieve. I do however think it would be great if we finish 20th and then proceed to snag a top 3 pick under the new system. THE ZFG smirk-scowl of GMTM would be priceless. -

All are great. At Sierra Nevada brewery in Asheville. This place is beyond words...so awesome. Sitting outside in the beer garden, drinking super fresh SN...plus they have some styles that they only have in their taproom. A nitro Stout, mild, bitter etc. If you love beer then you must come here. You must.

I'd go with unions.

Uber. Awesome. Not in Buffalo why???

Hamburg Brewing is a stones throw from where I grew up. I visited the brewery not long after they opened, its a beautiful space and I'd recommend making the trip to visit. The beers were so-so to below average IMO, but again this was after they just opened so maybe they've improved. Southern Tier is top notch.

No. You will be stationed on the second floor in the pils / pale lager section. There you can take out taps of Miller, Coors and Bud Light. Maybe some Stella, Amstel Light or Yuengling if you want to go crazy.

3/22/16. Sabres @ Canes. Dare I suggest that we take a group of Sabre space pillagers to the Raleigh Beer Garden, take on all 366 taps and then descend upon the surrounding countryside to rape, pillage and baby eat with our bellies full of craft beer goodness....
-
Here is the menu, the first floor is dedicated to strictly local NC beers and currently has 112 taps going.. http://theraleighbeergarden.com/menu/

True, I'd like to think that they have a system in place to prevent that. If you've ever been to a Yard House they have miles of extra long draft lines visible up in the ceiling which always made me think there was a high likelihood of getting a bad beer from it sitting in the line too long.
-
A world record 366 taps! I wanted to take my brother when he was in town this past weekend, but unfortunately they didn't open until this week. It's amazing how far this area has come in the craft beer world considering you couldn't buy beer > 6% abv in this state a decade ago. http://www.forbes.com/sites/larryolmsted/2015/07/22/move-over-munich-world-record-beer-garden-opens-in-usa/

Wilco surprise released a new album last week titled "Star Wars"...for free. You can get it on their website, iTunes, Amazon etc. Listened to some on the way in to the office this morning, and like most recent Wilco records it's going to take some digesting, but so far I like it.

Mr. Isbell has done it once again releasing another fantastic album this week. The single 24 Frames, referring to the number of frames that pass in one second of film, won't get out my head..

Of that specific beer? It seemed like they had maybe 10 bottles, but in general they had a wide selection plus about 8 on draft for growler fills or pints while you shop. It's called the glass jug on hwy 55 in Durham/RTP.
