Fair point, although what I did say was if this continues thru December.... but it would be certain to have a bad effect on Dahlin even if it was December... maybe it wouldnt. Well, I am not in favor of trading Dahlin but lol you are right, he probably goes on to win a cup if we do... with regards to Captain and assistants, yes we have them, yes all teams do... but titles do not make leaders... others willingness to follow their example do. If you are satisfied with what you are seeing this year and the past 13 (cause this year looks alot like the past 13) then power to you... but seeing the same effort, output, lack of aggression, and ultimately results as we have year after year after year leads one (or at least myself) to 1 conclusion, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck... its probably a duck. As you clearly value consistency I am fairly certain that they are the most consistent performing team over the past 14 years. Consistently losing, under performing and unwatchable.... I do admire your optimism, in the end I hope you are correct and that somehow this team magically transforms itself into a hockey team from a team that looks like it is best constructed to play in the Ryder Cup not the Stanley cup...

Probably unpopular, probably doesnt fix fundamental composition problems... but it may send a message. If this type of play continues... say till December we are clearly out of a playoff spot. I am not against Lindy taking the C away leaving no Captain under the auspice of whom ever leads the team and steps forward gets the C. Happy to hear thoughts.. maybe too soon for this... but I am just thinking what does a coach do to send a message that the play is unacceptable and that performance will determine ice time and real leadership that exemplifies the "way we want to play" will be earned and not anointed.

Well, I am not talking exclusively about prospects... prospects, potential and perhaps if, encompass the entire team. The construction of the team in my opinion has been atrocious. The moves that have been made, the contracts that have been entered into, and yes by an large the players drafted and acquired have been a failure... an abysmal failure. I personally do not want the person that orchestrated this current version of abject dysfuction to preside over the construction of the team and the use of its assets.... I struggle to look at a move or a signing he has made that really made me say well done, let alone actually show he is competent. In fact, he has dropped our ability to bargain and trade to only those players who do not have an NMC. That alone should tell you something. From my perspective he knows he is on the hot seat and the last thing I want is to throw a hail mary to save his job with our players, young, old, future, current, none. And I agree, its really not hard to make a decent cake, in fact with half the teams making the playoffs its literallly like a follow the instructions easy bake oven... yet.... this organization and front office havent even come close... so as easy as baking a cake might be this Front offices track record is "oops we forgot it in the oven" as the fire engines come blaring down the street.

I think we are all over prospects, potential and perhaps if, I think looking at the track record of how this team has been assembled, the question is, is this the guy you actually want making your trades... again 3 Sabres top 15 in scoring... none of them with the team... Need a top 6 center... but we traded him for a bottom 6 Dman and now he is in the top 15 in scoring... the lists go on... I dont want him to set us back farther than he already has..

Then we also have the issue of, the failure has been so epic and consistent, the dysfunction has been so profound and entrenched, the resurgence and emergence of players that leave this cesspool has been so frequent that no one that is respectable and impactful will want to come here... Which is exactly why the FO must be eradicated and notable and competent people must be installed.

Especially with a team like this... we have goal tending issues... almost average goal play is not sending this team to the next level.
